Weird Mind News Room Episode 26: August 21-27th

*The music is strong in this one*

Well hello again to you my very wonderful audience of people to the newest episode of Weird Mind News Room where I am once again as you humbled chin wobbler, take you through the extensive releases of the week from new releases in film, tv and games (and other media when it appeals to me), the trailers and all the other news of media. So let us journey through them and discuss upon them too shall we

The News Releases Awakens

Movies

The Blackening

So in terms wise of the movies that are releasing is not the biggest of most known films but more of a horror comedy known simply as The Blackening. This film will follow the vacation of 7 friends in a remote cabin on the weekend of Juneteenth but all is not as it seems as they have found themselves trapped with a killer with a vendetta and they must soon use their street smarts and their knowledge of Horror movies to survive and live to tell the tale. Now what I have seen on the reception it has been well recieved as it has been released in the states since mid June and while I may not have much of an interest to the whole film, I am sure that it may be better then what I got from the trailers and may be worth a watch down the line

Tv Shows

Ashoka 2 episode premiere

Now for the big sci-fi release of this week we heading to a galaxy far far away with an all new series of Star Wars Based on the popular character of Ahsoka Tano. This new series will take place around the same time as the Mandalorian and will follow Tano as she recruits some of her fellow rebels including Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla as they investigate the emergence of a new rising threat after the fall of the empire and discover the possible survival of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the possible survival of Ezra Bridger. Now the series released earlier then expected this week and to a 2 episode premiere and the reception so far has been pretty good and decently recieved. Now I watched them the other day and they are a decent watch, a little slow now and again at the start but you get that with shows starting off slow and getting better as the series continues and you can watch it unfold overtime as the series releases early Wednesday Mornings at 2am on Disney+

Only Murders in the Building episode 4
If travelling through space is not much your thing and prefer a mystery then you can continue with the ongoing mystery of who killed the leading man in the 3rd season of Only Murders in the Building which will see the continuing tale of Mabel looking for a lead in the case and Charles and Oliver trying the save Olivers Broadway show while both are dealing with their own problems in the process. I have been enjoying the series and when all new aspects of the mystery start to appear it is always of interest and I will continue with great interest as the show goes on.

Futurama Reboot episode 5
But if you want to travel into the future for a bit of time travelling misadventures then take a trip to planet express with the Futurama reboot as this newest episode of the week will see them take a jab at our new sudden major interest in online shopping and poke fun at the company of Amazon with an alternate version run by the global giant of Mom. I am sure there will be misadventures to be had as the series continue to release new stories every week on Disney+

Video Games

Armoured Core 6

and to round out the new releases of this week, we have the release of the sixth entry in the long running series of Armored Core and will see the destruction of mechanized vehicular combat take full center stage with some deep story courtesy of Souls developers FromSoftware. Now the reception for the game I have seen online has been very well recieved and is currently the highest rated game in the series. Now I have not known much about this series but I may at some point down the line learn about the lore and give it a try and if you know and want to play it then it is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC

The Last Trailer

Rebel Moon
Now for the first trailer for this week is coming to us from Netflix and the director who has a die hard fan base that will hate on anything from DC that has nothing to do with his involvement of Zack Snyder as they have officially released the official first trailer to the duology of Rebel Moon. This new film is set in a galaxy controlled by the corrupt government of Mother world and will focus on Kora, a former member of the Imperium forces will seek redemption for her past with gathering and recruiting warriors from across the galaxy to take back control of the universe from the corrupt. Now the trailer does look pretty stylized and interesting, even if a lot of the scenes are showing action and the signature amount of slow motion but I am sure that it will be worth a watch as the 1st part of these films will be releasing on Netflix (and possible limited cinema release) from December 22nd with the 2nd part releasing a few months later on April 19th. (and then also the case that he has a planned directors cut for this that will combine both films and an extra hour of unseen footage that will make it a planned 5 hour film and I think slow the fuck down, we haven't seen the first part yet)

American Horror story Delicate
Now this trailer is brief and I have no idea what I just watched but this follows up a little from the story of last week with an official teaser trailer for the new series of American Horror Story of Delicate that will see the starring roles from Emma Roberts, Cara Delavigne and for some forsaken reason of Kim Kardashian. Now this series is going to be based on the book of Delicate Condition that will see a focus on the character of Anna Alcott wanting to be a baby and things seem to be a possibility but soon she starts suspecting that someone is out to stop that from happening and then the possible unthinkable happens that she has had a miscarriage, but she is still believing that she is still expecting and all form of crazy and questionable things will happen as the series goes on. Now I have not been one that has watched much of the series and I am sure there is that are a big fan but I have not much an interest to watch if a Kardashian is a main lead but if you want to watch the series it is projected to release from September 20th (possibly)

Good Burger 2
Welcome to good burger, home of the good burger, may I take your order. Now many years ago there was a cult classic Nickelodeon film known as Good Burger which was based on a sketch from the Nickelodeon series of All that and that starred the leads of Kenan and Kel as 2 employees of Good Burger when one is forced to get a job their to pay off the damages he caused to his teachers car and soon must save his job from closing when a new restaurant opens up across the street. Now 26 years later a sequel has finally been announced and a small teaser was released that sees the 2 reunite all over again for an all new misadventures at Good Burger. Now not much else is known of the plot currently but I am sure they will release a full trailer for the film before it releases sometime in November of this year.

Little Nightmares 3
Now for an announcement from Gamescon of this week that did make me very happy. Now over the last few years there has been a small series of games known as Little Nightmares and they are some of the most unsettling games I have played and enjoyed from its setting and the inhabitants of the Maw ship, the Nest orphanage or from the large Pale City. Well now earlier this week we have recieved the excellent news that we are getting a 3rd game in this series and while it is not being worked on by the original studio of Tasier, it is in some good hands as it is in conjusction with Supermassive Games, the company behind the horror games of Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology and the Quarry and this new one will see you and even a friend in co-op take on the characters of Low and Alone as you must travel through a place known as the Nowhere in order to escape a looming threat. Now this looks really cool and stylized and while not showing much of some of the creepy creatures we will come across in the game beside a giant creepy porcelain baby doll (I am not prepared) this looks great and you will be able to experience more of these nightmares when it releases for consoles and PC sometime next year

Fraiser Revival
Now I will say one thing but there is a show that is a spin off of another classic show that is actually a really great spin off and that is with the Show of Frasier that follows the adventures of DR. Frasier Crane as he lives his life as a radio host in Seattle. Now after nearly 20 years since he signed off the air, Frasier is back again for an all new reboot to the series that will see him return back to Boston from the same setting as the original series of Cheers for more new misadventures in a new life and chapter for the character. Now I am interested but also a little skeptical cause it is a reboot but I am sure I will give it a look into when the series premieres from October 12th on Paramount Plus

Expend4bles
and for the final trailer for this week we have the official red band trailer for the upcoming 4th entry in the Expendables series that will see then team up with a new crew of familiars and new faces to stop a man known as Rahmat, who is the lead of a terrorist organisation and must stop him from obtaining Nuclear weapons to cause a conflict tension between the US and Russia (so sounds a little too close to modern day). Now I am sure that the series is worth a watch again and this new film is not too long from release as it coming out next month on September 22nd.

The Rise of the News Media

Thank you so much for-a voicing a-Mario
So we start off the news for this week with a little bit of some somber news as it was announced at the beginning of this year that Charles Martinet, the iconic voice behind the Plumber Mario as well as his brother Luigi and the Wario Bros too has announced that he is retiring the voice of the characters after being the voice since while most say Super Mario 64, was actually voiced the character a year earlier with the Mario game gallery where he tells you he is going fishing. Now he has voiced him since then in many games following from Mario Sunshine to Odyssey, from Mario Karts to Mario Party's he has the voice for it all and he was a voice that defined a generation of gaming from the whaas and yahoo's and I would want to personally thank Mr. Martinet for all of those memories of playing the Mario games as a kid to still continuing to play them to this very day. His last known voice for the series was actually in the recent Mario Movie as the voice of Mario's Father as well as the jump man in the pizzeria but it is not the end of him being a part of the universe as he is now confirmed as being a 'Mario Ambassador' for Nintendo and they announced a video in the future with Charles and MR Shigeru Miamoto in a future time. Now I believe what I have heard is that the fist use of the new voice actor for the characters will be making their debut in the Upcoming games of Super Mario Wonder and in the Warioware game releasing a short while afterwards so I am sure they will explain it in the video down the line

But what do you think of this news, are you sad to see Martinet retiring the voice of the iconic plumber and who do you think will take over the voices. Let me know what your thoughts are down in the comments down below

The Future of Playstation has a very similar name
Now for some tech news that is not relating to a man that has caused a lot of problems with a social media giant and instead talk about Playstation. Now a couple weeks back, I made a mention that Sony announced that we were getting a new form of a handheld device for the PlayStation 5 and was known as project Q back then. Well now just earlier this week at the ongoing Gamescon conference we have been officially given some news about the product as well as some other tech mainly in the likes of the wireless PlayStation Buds which are coming out soon as well as a pro version of the 3D Pulse headphones as well. But the main draw is with the new Project Q and they have unveiled the name of the product and its starting price. The product itself will have a similar sounding name to older fans of the handheld Sony products as it is known as the PlayStation Portal or the PSP. This new device is essentially just a more pricier dualsense controller with a Nintendo Switch Tablet stuck in the middle with better power but have around the same limited features to the likes of the Wii U gamepad where you cannot play it on the go and must be connected to WIFI to use it. Now the price of the product is coming in at around 220 euros with a release date not provided as of yet but will be available for purchase before Christmas of this year with a Pre-order available sometime soon. Now I may give it a try and it may be like the PSVita with its remote Play functionality of using that console like the controller but we will see how well it does and as soon as I get word of a release date for the item and pre-order I will lets yous know in a future post.

But what do you think of the item and does the proce point for the product seem reasonable or should it cost more or be slighty cheaper (cause having the console, headset and this will be over 1300 alone before any games and extra accessories are considered) but let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments below.

Sonic has a date to race to
Now these next 2 will be some quick updates of release as one follows on from last week and one is official confirmation. Lets start with the one that we know the full picture of and that is with the upcoming release of Sonic Superstars. Now we got this announced back at the Summer of Gaming event of this new 2.5D style sonic game of the 2d runner with a 3d coat of paint and that the game was coming out sometime by the end of this year. Well this week at Gamescon opening night we were given an official release date for the game as this new Sonic adventure will be releasing to consoles and PC from the 17th of October joining amongst the mass array of other video game juggernauts of that month and coming out 3 days before Spider-man 2 and Mario Wonder. Of course this game does look really good and I a sure I will find the time in amongst all of these new releases to play them all and give my thoughts and opinions of them too cause October is going be a huge month of games (which may help in the possible lack of films that month)

But what are your thought of this game and what are you excited to play this fall with the huge library of games. Lets discuss all your thoughts down below

Rick and Morty are Back soon for more adventures
Now as for the other announcement this is a follow up to a story I mentioned from last week and that was with we were getting an announcement of the release date for the upcoming 7th season of Rick and Morty. Well around Wednesday the official social media of Rick and Morty unveiled this poster of Rick, Morty and Summer parodying the cover for the movie Bad Boys with also providing the official announcement that the 7th season will be releasing from the 15th of October. Now the only thing they didn't provide any word on was who will be voicing the characters of the 2 main leads or even any footage so unless we will get a trailer for the new one at some point in the next few days to clarify that then we will see by then or else we will have to wait until the new season for who is voicing them so there is a bit of mystery to it.

but what are your thoughts on the continuation of Rick and Morty and who will be voicing them do you think? Lets discuss it down in the comments

Welcome to Vault 33
For some other tv news, we are heading over to the land of streaming as we are talking about the release of a new adaptation of a video game from the streaming service of Amazon Prime. (Side Note: I have also just released my first long form video about the History of Video Game Adaptations which you can check out by clicking Here. Now the series in question that is being discussed today is with the adaptation of the popular Bethesda game of Fallout and has been in the works for the last 2 years I believe. Well now just this week we have gotten some information, a setting and a projected release window for the series. Now this series will be following the inhabitants of Vault 33 who will come back up to the surface to explore the remains of the barren lands after the Nuclear War. Now the series has had its share of locations across the US from Boston, California (or new California), Virginia, Washington and Las Vegas but this new series will be focused primarily in sunny Los Angeles for this setting (a staple of most American productions seem to always be LA or New York or maybe Washington) and will be a wasteland but mixed with a 50s aesthetic. Not much else is known at the time but the last thing we know is that the series will be releasing sometime next year in 2024 so once I learn more I will update the info in a future episode

But what do you think, do you see this Fallout series being any good and if you could choose a location for this series besides LA where would you place it? Let me know what you think down below in the comments and lets brainstorm those ideas

The Warner Bros will be banking on 2024 for some of their big films

Now to wrap up the news for this week, it seems we cannot go a week without there being some release date changes and this week it is no exception as following Sony's announcement of some film delays of Kraven, Ghostbusters and Spider-verse, it seems like now we have some delays courtesy of Warner Bros and this is with 3 big releases in particular which I will give a little run down of delays to.

The big one of discussion is the 2nd part to Dune. Now initially this film was projected to be released in about 2 months time on November 3rd of this year but it was just announced that this film will now not be releasing in 2023, instead this film will now be delayed by around 4.5 months and now has a new release date of March 15th of 2024

This first delay has caused the shift of the Warner film that was initially planned for that date and that was Godzilla x Kong: A new Empire, which is now being slightly delayed by a month to April 12th of 2024 from the initial March 14th date.

Lastly and one that I didn't know was releasing but we are getting a new film based on the Lord of the Rings, an animated one known as Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was initally planned for release in April 2024, but will now be releasing around Christmas of December 13th 2024.

Now there is still a small group of 3 films from Warner coming out at the end of this year in December with Wonka, Aquaman and the lost kingdom and the Colour Purple all still releasing within a few days of each other but whether any of those or the ones mentioned are delayed more from these ongoing strikes is anyones guess as we heading into month 4 of the writers strike and halfway through Month 2 for the actors with attempts of a fair negotiation not being met yet but hopefully they are given what they want and not be pushed around with crap deals from the studios.

But what do you think of these delays, are you disappointed and what other films do you feel are going to be delayed next if any, let me know what you think down below in the comments

and with that, this brings us to the end of another episode of Weird Mind news room and I do hope that you have enjoyed listening to my rambling for another week. Let me know your thoughts of all that was discussed down in the comments below and as always I hope you stay being wonderful people and I shall see you in the next episode.

I wish you all a really great day
Signing off,
Sam H
