Weird Mind News Room episode 31: September 25th- October 1st

*I am the creator of my own weapon of destruction and the music is how it goes*

Hello again to you once again to all of you wonderful people to the newest episode of Weird Mind News Room where I will once again go through all that have released in the week from the mixed variety of New Releases, the variety of trailers and from the basis of some of the other news stories that have been unveiled too. So let's not waste too much time on the introductions and lets get to the content of the week

Enrolling New Releases

Movies:
The Creator

So we start off to what I feel would be the final big film from this month and that is with the big epic Sci-fi film of The Creator. This new movie will be a war between Humans and AI (which sounds similar to the reason that the strikes happened for (but we'll talk on them later) and will follow an ex special forces agent as he is tasked with finding and taking out the weapon made by "the creator" and destroy it before it falls into the wrong hands and the consequences the soldier must make in the process. Now initially when I started writing the section, this film had been sitting with a strong reception from critics and since then the score has gone down but it is still well recieved, especially with one part being the fantastic looking visuals. Sure the plot may seem familiar but you will get that with any sci-fi film but I look forward to checking this out and you can too as it is now in cinemas

Saw X

But if you are more of the sadistic and grotesque horror appeal side of things then you do not need to worry as we have an all new entry in the now 20 year series of Saw with Saw X. Now this new film is set in between the 1st and 2nd Saw film and sees John Kramer go off to get some treatment for his cancer from a health clinic in South America, but it turns out it was all a scam (don't you just hate when you tricked into being scammed by something that seems legit) and soon they will face the consequences of their actions as they messed with the wrong sadistic bastard as they become the victims of his cavalcade of deadly traps for his amusement and games. Now surprisingly for the first time ever in the series, a film in the Saw franchise is highly well recieved from critics and audiences and is the best reviewed in the series by a long shot (closest to a positive score was the original around 20 years ago) for the main lead performance and probably the fucked up traps. Now I have not had the stomach to watch this series due to the fact that I have a really bad fear of Hemophobia (Fear of Blood and gore) and will be sitting this one out as they are very f**ked, but if you have a better stomach then me then you can check it out yourself in cinemas.

TV Shows

Gen V: The Boys Spin-off

Well it looks like class is in session as we have an all new spin off to the ever popular series of the Boys with Gen V. This new series will focus on a new group of young adult hormonal, competitive superheroes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test when they are given acceptance to the Goldolkin University for Young adult Supes, all funded by the Voight corporation. Now as similar to the mainline series of the Boys the series has been very well recieved for its take on the Superhero genre with its more fucked up and edgier forms of content and is still a fresh take on this series in general. If you are looking to enroll then you can do so and catch the first 3 episodes now and a new episode is released every Friday up to the start of November on Amazon Prime.

Castlevania: Nocturne

But now it is time to sink your teeth into something beautiful with a new follow up to the excellent Castlevania series of Netflix with technically a sequel series of Castlevania Nocturne. This one focuses on the Belmont family member of Richter and taken inspiration from the games of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, we see Richter and some supernatural allies take on and stop an army of dangerous creatures and vampires and protect the lands of France during the French Revolution in 1792. Now like the previous series this one has also been highly well recieved from the critics for animation and story. Audiences from what I have seen and read so far seem a little more divided as some say the writing is bad (some even saying it was written by AI, but I would doubt that and it would've been a much more heavy debate about that) and poor development of characters and apparently Netflix stereotypes? But I will have to see for myself and of course for your own selves to make your own opinion on it when you can check out the full season now on Netflix.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 9

Speaking of death, we have the reminder that we are on the final stretch of the 3rd season of Only murders in the building and after the revelation of last week, we may have gathered the clues to find out who is the one really responsible for the death of Ben Glenroy in some form. I have watched it and how it ended I am on the edge of my seat to see the outcome in next weeks finale when the whole case has been played out (and hopefully their is a potential tease for a season 4 and we get a season 4 as I have grown a fondness for this series).

Ashoka episode 7

But if a murder mystery is not your thing then you also have the reminder of the penultimate episode of Ashoka is also available for you to check out right now and will continue the story of Ahsoka learning more about the greater new emerging threat and also reuniting and saving sabine and Ezra from the forces of Admiral Thrawn. Now I actually need to catch up on the last episode or 2 before the season wraps up next week and I focus my attention on a different show (but we'll talk on that next week)

Futurama reboot finale

And keeping with the Sci-fi aesthetic, we have reached the final episode of the so far planned reboot of Futurama with this newest episode focuses on the discovery that the Professor has created a simulated world and the question if they are in it now or living outside of it which is either taking a jab at Virtual Reality or the concept we are all part of the Matrix but leave it to the Planet Express crew to figure that out and bring some humour to it along the way.
The Continental Episode 2

And to wrap up the last of the shows for this week and with a bit more of an action focus, then you can check yourself into the continental for the 2nd episode of the limited series and see how the action and drama of the Young Winston shake up the proceedingd and order of the hotel he will one day run. Now I need to get to watching this but I may hold it till next week and watch all 3 at once and then give my thoughts on it as well.

Video Games

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC

Now to get to games we start with DLC for a game that was hyped to hell, released in a very messy state (that was the fault of the higher ups that wanted money for the Holiday seasonal period), had quite the road to recovery and is now at a functional state where it is highly praised and very functional and that was with Cyberpunk 2077 and now we are here with its first major expansion of Phantom Liberty. in this game you will return to playing the character of V as you take on a more spy thriller espionage role and must save the NUS president from his life being taken and this will also be headlined by a big named star, with this time in the form of Ildris Elba. Now the reception for this expansion from what I have seen has been very well recieved for its story and functionality and method of playing and if you want to head back to Night City then you can buy the new expansion (as long as you have the base game) for next gen, last gen and PC.

EA FC 24 (Don't know why but its what came out this week)

And to wrap it all up this week is with a game that is released every year, charged a hefty amount for minimal changes and people still complain but buy it we have the new football game from EA that no longer goes by Fifa (due to the end of their license) and instead of EA FC 24. The game is just football and thats it (besides the ultimate team and all that other online stuff). Now reception has been decently recieved and this is not much of an interest to me, but I need to ask this question of what is the appeal of this game. Most times when I see people play this game it is them staring at a stats screen in ultimate team and very minimally at playing a match and I have to ask what is really new in each game that is warrant a lot of guys from this year (or other no specific genders) playing the game, play for a short while, get bored, say the game sucks and then trade it in after a brief period of time (or the fact you spend a considerate amount for a new console and it is the only game you play for your console which feels a bit of a waste for a console if you only play one series on said console that most times people complain about every year saying last year was better, this year sucks when you said the same thing a year ago about the last one. I would like to know what is different from someone down below and see what I am missing in a hopefully clear, concise and respectful manner to get an idea if I understand why or I feel is a bit pointless. But to those anyway this game is now available on PS4/5, XBox One, Series X/S and Switch and PC now.

I wanna play a trailer

Rick and Morty Season 7

So we start off the new trailers this week with a big discussion piece trailer as we have gotten the official full trailer to the upcoming 7th season of Rick and Morty which of course is showing off more misadventures of super genius Rick Sanchez and his bumbling grandson Morty. Now the big discussion is of course with the sudden change in voices as If you recall earlier this year, Justin Roiland left his projects and groups he was a part of due to allegations of emotional abuse from past partners from a few years ago and it was the big discussion of who will replace the main leads of Rick and Morty since Roiland voiced both of them (and a few others in the show) but we did get our first listen and the one they got sounds really good, yet they are not saying who it is until the end of the first episode (my theory it is a Youtuber or it will be found to be well developed AI and that 2nd option would be ridiculed to hell), but we will find out who it is and go on some more Rick and Morty adventures when the season premieres on October 15th (may be slight delay here but will have to see)

Next Goal Wins

so 2 things this week about the sport of football as we have a new look at the upcoming new release of Taika Waititi's newest film of Next Goal Wins. Now this is a true story about down on his luck coach Thomas Rongen who is tasked with coaching the Samoa team, labelled as the worst team in the world of football and turn them around and get them a place in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. Now early reactions from some of the film festivals have been a little mixed but from what I have seen it looks like something to check out and you can catch the match when it releases here on December 26th

Disney's Wish

Now we head over the major studio of Disney as we are given a new trailer for the newest animated movie with the release of Wish. This new film will focus on the new princess of 17 year old Asha who makes a passionate plea to the stars in a moment of need to save her kingdom of Rosas when she senses a darkness no one else seems to notice. Now this is supposed to be beased on the whole magic star we follow in the opening titles and the theme of making dreams a reality (a staple in most of the Disney films of past) and for this film, I am a little on the fence but It could just be the trailer footage not being the best (and worried that goat will be too annoying), but I think it does look visually appealing as it is going in vain to the mixed medium style of CG and classic Watercolour animation too and I will wish upon the star when it releases on November 24th.

Tomb Raider: The legend of Lara Croft
Announced this week at the Drop 1 of Netflix event, we got the confirmation that we are getting another adaptation of a video game made into an anime style series and this time we are joining the world famous treasure hunter of Lara Croft with the teaser seeming to be showing its focus on the origins of her character and more of the characters from the recent trilogy of games. Now not much is shown but it does look really cool and animation has the style similar to Castlevania (and another show we will talk in a few) but we will hopefully learn more about the show when we get a release date for the series.

Argylle

And now we have another new spy action film courtesy of Matthew Vaughn, the director of the Kingsman movies (which I want to know where is that planned 3rd movie?) but we have the all new film of Argylle. This new film will see an author of a very popular novel series of spy books become mixed into the world of dangerous criminals and espionage as it turns out the stories that she has written have turned out to actually be eerily close to how they all happened (when she never knew that the spy was a real person). Now this looks very interesting and stylized and I like the concept of the film as well as the big name star cast that has been placed in this film. All I know is that I am checking this new spy thriller out when the film releases on February 1st.

Devil May Cry Anime

And as for the 2nd one from the Netflix drop I mentioned to you about, it was the release of the announcement that we are getting a 2nd series based on another game and with the same art style and that is with an anime on Devil May Cry. Now all it shows is the announcement of the project itself and some looks at the visuals of the series but I am sure we will learn more about this project overtime when this series, like the tomb raider one will have a release date announcement.

Big Mouth Season 7
and to wrap up the release of the trailers for this week, we have the official trailer to a show that should ended years ago but for some reason kept getting renewed when other good shows and animated shows get canned when they had more potential and that is with the season 7 trailer for Big Mouth. This will seem to have them graduating from school and dealing with new issues heading into high school or college and some reason Megan Thee Stallion is also now part of the cast but I have no idea. This show has somehow survived when it kind of feels like sexually exploiting kids, but I mean this is the same studio that released a film with this poster and was more supportive of it, but thankfully this is the last of 2 seasons of the show with the new season releasing on October 20th.

The News of varying outcomes

The problematic situation show, starring Jimmy Fallon

So we start the new story that is a slightly late story that has come up about the entertainment industry and that is with Talk shows. Now it seems we will see some of these talk shows come back very soon (which will discuss in the next story) and all is well and good, but one of them may have a bit of a statement and apology to do when it returns. You see, some articles came out a few days ago that apparently working on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has been labelled as a "Toxic" environment. This was made aware in a Rolling Stones article that got the response from 16 employees of the show (2 of them being former members) and a many others that refused to comment that has emphasized that Fallon has a history of outbursts and lashes out at staff when under pressure, previous senior staff had bullied and belittled others and the dressing rooms for guests were known as Crying rooms for the crew working on the show. Now Fallon has apologized for this behaviour and it follows from some other talk shows that have been called out for supposed and alleged toxic behaviour following from Ellen and I think Wendy Williams (although I think the latter was known for being a bit rude in some extent). Now it's unclear how Jimmy will respond when he returns to the talks shows in a short bit of time but I have a feeling he will address the situation directly.

But what do you think of this whole ordeal and do you feel all the other talk shows from past and present have some form of toxic environment we don't know about? Let me know what you think of it in the comments down below

The strikes end for one, continue for others and may start to take its place

Now this relates back a little to the first story as I mentioned that talk shows will be back real soon, and when I mean real soon, I mean next week as it was confirmed at the start of this week after a grand total of 5 months of being on strike, it looks like the strikes for the writers are coming to an end as it has been confirmed that the studios and the writers have reached a fair and positive deal that both can agree on and this deal will be in place for a contract for 3 years with a return to it in 2026 for renewal of keeping similar agreements and some possible increase and it is a very happy day for the working groups. Now it still does not mean that the likes of the other strike has ended just yet and another could be replacing the writers in the process, as currently the actors union are still on strike with them going 2 and a half months right now of being on strike but their has been talks that this could also be ending sometime next week if all goes well as they are planned to meet to discuss better terms on Monday October 2nd. But as for the one that may be replacing them, it seems that it could be the digital front of video game studios may be hitting the picket line instead as they were also supposed to be having some deals and negotiations this week that seem to have dismissed with no clear or agreeable deal and the writers union have backed them in support if they are to strike but their has been no announcement as of this writing/ recording but once we hear something I'll let you know in an update to this story or in another episode.

But what are your thoughts on all of this and do you see the Actors strike ending within the next week or so and do you see the Video game studios and even other departments take their place for a better deal? Let me know your opinions and thoughts down below in the comments.

The Boys are about to give you DEEZ nuts and some tasty Jazz too

And now we have some new music news and news that may not be much of an interest to a lot of you but to some, it may be a positive outcome. So as I have mentioned a little while ago now but I am a big fan of the genre of indie and comedy music with bands like TWRP, Starbomb, Weird Al, Planet Booty, Tenacious D and our focus of the story and my personal favourite one of Ninja Sex Party. Now over the last 10+ years they have at least since 2015 have released a new album in some form each year whether it is an original studio album, a cover album of classics from the 70s to early 90s, a kids album, acoustic album and even album from Danny's 2 other bands of Skyhill and Shadow Academy or both with Starbomb or Twrp, the duo of Danny Sexbang and Sadistic Killer Ninja Brian have been busy. Well now it looks like we have gotten news for 3 albums that have come out with one releasing in 2 weeks, another coming shortly after and another coming early next year.

So first we have after all this time the newest album from Skyhill of Out in the Moonlight, the first in quite a long time and the longest band that Danny has been a member of and I have listened to some from the past and need to give an update to checking out their new songs but more music is a good thing to me.

the 2nd album to come out shortly after is with our boy Ninja Brian is about to drop a tasty ass Jazz album under the pseudonym of Trey Magnifique called Mature situations. Now they have released one song for the album and I have to say I have heard him play bit of Jazz in some NSP songs and this song they did is tasty as fuck and I know I am checking this album out on the 10th of November.

And finally we have the main group themselves of Ninja Sex Party as we have the upcoming release of their 6th Original Album of These Nuts. Now initially they planned for this album to release in late 2023 as most albums they have released were all released around August to October every year and this was the planned released when they dropped the first song from the album early this year of the song "I own a car". Well earlier this week they announced they announced that the album was confirmed out to be releasing early next year and alongside the album cover we have a confirmation it is releasing in March 2024. Now my prediction is that it will release on March 14th given that it is Danny Birthday or the day after but I am sure we will learn with the next song and music video coming in October.

But what are your opinions on this, if you like these bands are you excited for more music from these 2 cause I know I am, but you can let me know down below.

We lost the greatest wizard in the world and he will not be forgotten

And the final story for this week is a sad one unfortunately as we have the announcement of another passing of an iconic actor and that was with the actor of Sir Michael Gambon. Now he was in a lot of classic movies but to many he was the man behind the portrayal of Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter Movies and took over from the original Dumbledore actor of Richard Harris. Now I also learned this week that he was from Ireland himself and in fact was born in a neighbouring district which is not too far from where I Live, but to say he left a legacy is something that is true and he will be remembered for years to come and I hope he rests in peace

And on that note I like to thank you all for joining me on another episode of Weird Mind News and I do hope that you enjoyed coming along on this journey with me to learn all that has released this week from releases to news. Do let me know your thoughts down below in the comments below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and I will wish you all a great day everyday :)

Signing off
