Weird Mind News Room episode 35: October 23rd - 29th

*play the song behind the slaughter*

Hello and welcome to your new weekly job at the new and improved episode of Weird Mind News Room. Now your job is very simple is to make sure that their is power to your picture devices, doors are closed and their is no one coming after you while you make it through the video while discussing New Releases, trailer and News stories, So anyway that's all I have for this call, job should be easy enough and will talk again soon so will let you get straight to the content.

New Nights of releases

Movies
Five Nights at Freddy's

So it be best that of course we start what is essentially the big release film and one that has been development for the better half of a decade and that is of course the film Adaptation to the popular Indie horror game of Five Nights At Freddy's. This new film will follow Mike Schmidt, a young man who is down on his luck trying to make ends meet to care for his young sister Abby and keep her from her mean Auntie. Soon he obtains a job at an old pizzeria known as Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and given the job of security guard for the night to watch over the place. But what he will soon discover is that things are not going to be easy as the animatronics have a mind of their own and our out to get rid of anyone who who may pose as a threat and that threat is the new night guard. Now the anticipation has been very high over this extensive series but it seems that critics seem to not as in favour for this film as some it seems to be a praise for the faithfulness and also its criticism as well for its plot but I am pretty sure this is what is known for the FNAF franchise as it is very convoluted and messy in terms of a coherent plot (and if you have watched Game Theory's series you can see there is over 60 videos dedicated to this series trying to piece the lore). However I have heard from some fans of the series seem to live it and give it praise that it has finally been made. Now I know I will be checking in for my shift at Freddy's and you can too as it is now available to check out in cinemas

South Park enter the Panderverse

So technically this counts as both a tv special and a tv movie but we are head on down to the quiet little mountain town with an all new South Park Special of Joining the Panderverse. This new episode will see the boys being transformed into diverse women that will complain about the Patriarchy and the mix of taking on the mix reception towards Disney, the strikes and AI and all other current day trends. Now the reception on this special has been decently recieved and usually always have something unique and funny to mock on current day trends and if you want to check it out yourself then you can catch it now on Paramount+

Games
Alan Wake 2

Now for the big story based game of the week, we have ourselves making a return to the twisted world of the Famous Author trapped in a small lake town and after starting as a small Xbox exclusive a decade ago that became a cult classic, we now have an official sequel with Alan Wake 2. Now the plot on this new game will have you playing as Thriller Author of Alan Wake who is trying to escape from his twisted alternate universe by creating an all new Horror story that focuses on an FBI agent named Saga Anderson. Now this game like has been very well recieved and currently scoring much higher then the original and remaster (just slightly) for it horror, story, gameplay and continuing world building of the world of Alan Wake. Now I for one will be playing a replay of the original before I give this game a play (only gripe I have personally is that it is a digital release only and would love that it will hopefully have a physical version released soon) but you can experience his next bestseller on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Metal Gear Solid collection Vol.1

Kept you waiting huh. Well you do not need to wait any longer as if you were aware of a classic series of stealth based games made by Konami and the mind of Hideo Kojima then you are in look as we have an all new bundle releasing this week of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1. Now this bundle will consist of the 2 class Megal Gear games from the 80s/90s and as well as the classic Trilogy of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Note its not the remake as that is coming at another time and will talk on that later) as well as some extra little features like visual guides and other sweet features too. Now the reception on this has been good with a lot praising the chance to play all these games in one bundle. However many pundits online have critiqued it as being just a simple port over of the games and have seen a variety of issues like visual and performance issues and not being really scaled up to the level of standard for new hardware. But if you are interested in playing some of the very best games then you can do so on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch.

UFC 5

Now if you are looking for some new Fighting based game then you are in luck as well as we have another new sports game from EA with UFC 5. This is of course a new Mixed Martial arts game of you taking the challenge to the ring and playing as one of the many choices of characters available at your disposal. Now the reception on this game has been very well recieved for it faithfulness to the sport and if you want to check it out yourself it is available on PS5, Series X/S and PC.

Just Dance 2024

And to end the new releases this week it is time to do a little bit of dancing as we have another new yearly release and in the form of Ubisoft's long running series of Just Dance with the 2024 edition. Now of course this will have you moving and grooving to some of the big hit songs of the year as well as some classics through their Just Dance+ Subscription service. Now the reception like the previous few years has also been well recieved and if you are looking for a bit of a dance then you can do so on Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Series X/S.

Trailer Breach

Squid Game the challenge

Now we start the trailers for the week with finding yourself in a new reality show based on a massively popular series from 2 years ago that is getting a 2nd part next year and that is with Squid Game and in particular the Challenge. This is a new reality show that will pit 456 contestants against one another in a series of challenges based on the hit show in order for them to win a major cash prize of 4.56 Million, which is the biggest prize pool ever won on television. Now I think this looks fun and I know this was something that anyone could've taken part in (maybe if a 2nd season rolls around I'll try again for it) but it looks interesting and makes me want to look back into the original series again near the time, but if you want to see how all of this plays out the series I believe is dropping in 3 weeks time on November 17th.

Leave the World behind

Now on the second of the Netflix based trailers is another trailer for a film I think I talked about 2-3 weeks ago but they must be pushing out some marketing for it before it release soon and this is with the upcoming apocalyptic thriller of Leave the World Behind. Now this film that is being made by Sam Esmail, the creator of Mr Robot, sees a family on vacation in Long Island being interrupted by the arrival of two strangers appearing at their door with news of an imminent Blackout and as the threat grows, both families must decide how best to describe the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world. Now it does seem interesting and the reception for it looks to be doing pretty well and if you want to check it out then you can check this new film out when it releases on Netflix on December 8th.

007 Road to a million

Now we are heading over to Amazon Prime for this next trailer and we like this series shaken not stirred as we have an all new series on the world of James Bond with 007 Road to a Million. Now this is a new reality series where normal members of the public are sent on a task of travelling around the world to find and complete 10 different questions and most are based on being like a scene out of James Bond and if they successfully complete it then they will bag themselves £1,000,000, if the mastermind of Brian Cox doesn't stop them in the process. Now I think the concept of this looks very cool and gives a new mix to a travel show and a competition, and if you want to see how they do in the espionage caper then you can check out the series when it drops on Amazon Prime on November 10th.

Lisa Frankenstein

Now we have all heard of the tale of the scientist that created life in a monster but we now have an all new take on this classic tale in a new modern twist as we have been given the first trailer for the all new series of Lisa Frankenstein. Now this will follow the story of a misunderstood teenager and reanimated corpse embarking on a murderous journey to find love, happiness and a few missing body parts along the way. Now this looks like quite the unique take on the classic tale with a modern setting to it and I am sure I may give this a look into when the film drops just in time for Valentines day on February 9th next year.

Maestro

And to end the new trailers for the week, we are heading over and checking out the newest directorial film from Bradley Cooper with his all new Biographical pic of Maestro. Now this new film will follow the life of famous music composer of Leonard Bernstein and mainly focus on his career but more on his marriage with his wife of Felicia Montealegre. Now a lot of Coopers films always seem to turn out really inventive and personal character study and this one seems like no exception and going off the early strong reception it seems to be another success for the actor and director and you can check it out yourself when this film releases on Netflix on December 20th (with a small cinema release sometime next month).

News Help Wanted

Take a trip to Peru for some delicious Marmalade

So most if not all of the news for this week is actually with some new release date announcements and delays and to start off with this list is with the announcement release date for the newest entry into some of the most beloved and well recieved films of recent memory and that is with everyone's Marmalade loving little bear of Paddington. Now we have recieved 2 of the most beloved films over the past decade and it was for the time the 2nd film was the most positively recieved of all time (until one person had to ruin that) and it has been a known thing for a bit of time now that we were getting a 3rd entry in the series and that is coming in the form of Paddington in Peru and thankfully today I have the announcement of a release date for the film. Now the film has 2 different release dates with the first early release being in the UK with its release dropping in just a little over a years time on November 8th 2024 and as for some US viewers they will need to wait an extra 2 months to see it when it drops there on January 17th 2025. Now I a very excited for this film and while I know there is one new cast change and the director of the first 2 is busy working on Wonka, I have good faith that this one will also be another very wholesome adventure and I am very much excited to check this film out.

But what are your thoughts on this announcement and are you excited for this 3rd film and what are your own thoughts of the first 2 films in general. Let me know what your thoughts are down in the comments below.

This mission may take a little longer to complete and need to do it quietly
Now while there was one announcement, the rest of the date ones are all based on the announcement of delays from some big studio and in particular from Paramount and Disney. For this one I am going to start with the announced ones from Paramount as they were announced earlier this week and I will explain the ones that were changed.

So we'll start with the big focus one and that is with the next and possibly final entry in the long running Mission impossible franchise with Mission Impossible 8. Now initially this was planned for release in late June of next year but now it has been confirmed to be delayed by nearly a year to May 23rd 2025 as due to all of the ongoing strikes (which these delays are caused by) that it has stopped the film from being finished even while being made back to back with the most recent film. It has also been confirmed that this film is going to be getting a name change from Dead Reckoning Part 2 but as things are right now it is unclear on what it will be called.

Now this leaves the slot opened for the original date and luckily another film has gotten pushed back from early next year and that is with the new prequel film to the popular horror series of A Quiet Place with Quiet Place Day one which will now be delayed from March 8th to June 28th. Now this one seems fair enough to do and is already near completion on it so I guess it makes sense to push it just a little back.

And the last of the delays relates to a certain absorbant cartoon character and his 4th feature film (they really push them out quicker now when it was a decade in between the 1st and 2nd film) and that is with The Spongebob movie: the search for SquarePants, which was initially supposed to release on May 23rd 2025 but is not getting delayed until December 2025. Now not much else is known on this film but it is a part of an extensive list of Spongebob films coming out (with the other based on other characters from the show like Sandy and Squidward).

there is however one film that has gotten an official release date and that is the upcoming new comedy film from Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski with IF (or Imaginary Friends) which is a film about a young girl that has the power to see other peoples imaginary friends that were abandoned. That will be coming out with a new release of May 24th 2024, so at least there is some form of hope for something still coming out of their calendar sometime next year, but unless these strikes continue on these will also see a bit of a continued delay in the process

But what are your thoughts on all of this and what are you most excited to see from these films in particular, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

The showrunner with the dragon Tattoo and heading to the highlands

Our next story is with the focus of a new adaptations news coming our way and in particular is with the focus of a series of novels that have seen some film adaptations over the last decade I would want to say and that is with specifically the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Now each of the films have its fair share of fans and each of them have had their different popularity with critics and box office but not it looks like these novels are going to get their chance to be explored fully but not in a film but rather a tv series. It was just announced on Thursday that Amazon Prime and Left Bank Pictures (the production company who worked on The Crown and Outlander) are making a new retelling of the series of Swedish Crime novels and giving them a modern day twist that will have something for old fans and to bring in new ones too. Now as things are we have no idea on when this will start production or even has a writer yet but I am sure when I hear anything I will update in a later piece.

Also just a little small update announcement but we have also gotten the announcement a little while ago of a rumoured reboot to the classic film of Highlander and that I can confirm is officially going ahead and will star Henry Cavill in the starring role and this will be directed by Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick so this does seem to be very excited. Now no date has been set for the film yet but they hope to start filming in 2024 so we'll see how that turns out.

But what are your thought on this, are you excited for a new update to the series and what are your thoughts on the novels and films in general. Let me know all of your thoughts down below

When you do not wish upon that start then Delay will become true

Now as I mentioned Paramount was not the only studio announcing delays as it was just announced at the end of Friday evening that Disney has announced a few delays to their projects with mainly in the area of their Live action, Pixar and searchlight film so I am just going to give a quick speed through these delays.

So we'll start with the biggest one that was delayed and that was with the film that has had a bit of a mixed reception (mainly by the comments of the main lead) and that is with the Live Action Snow White as it was announced that the film will be delayed by a whole year now to March 2025. While that was expected given we have seen literally nothing in terms of promotion, it did finally get an official first look with the image above of Snow white with the 7 Dwarfs in the cottage which looks a lot different from what I expected from those behind the scenes images and while they look a little eerie I am sure I will grow to get used to it before the film comes out

As for the other big Disney film planned for release initially in March was from Pixar with Elio which was planned for release on March 1st has now been delayed by well over a year to June 2025. Now it may be the case of it hasn't finished recording the lines or needs more time to be animated but it is hard to tell currently and as of now the only planned Pixar film release of next year is the sequel to Inside Out if that has not also been delayed. If it is then I guess their option is the Baseball series of Win or Lose that is supposedly out this year or in other option the 2nd season to Monsters at Work (Yo Pixar, where that at?)

Now while there is 2 untitled films that have gotten some release delays with no idea of what they are, one film that has been removed from the release calendar for the end of this year is the film of Magazine dreams that was starring Johnathon Majors. Now the film has been removed from the release calendar currently and is fully complete but the reason is due to the legal trouble Majors is in for misdemeanor, harassment and assault charges and is set to stand trial next month so they probably want to hold off until the verdict and they hope their is good news as it seen as an awards contender film, but will see how the verdict comes along

But what are your thoughts on these delays and do you see anything else getting this from other studio. Let me know what you think down below and we'll have a discussion about it all.

The man Without fear may have someone to make him reborn

So to wrap up on the news stories for this week is relating back to a story I talked about 2 weeks ago and that was with the TV shows of the MCU and in particular we are talking on the man without Fear of Daredevil. Now I mentioned in a story 2 weeks ago that the Daredevil Born Again series was being rebooted and the director and writers of the show were fired from the series as it was feeling less like a proper continuation from the very popular Netflix series and was leaning more into of a legal court drama and would've been 4 episodes before we Saw Matt Murdock in costume. So it saw the case of it being rebooted to be focused and made from more of those that would be showrunners that would also make it more then one series with a pilot and show bible made for it all too and it seems they may have found their needed leads for development. It has been confirmed that this new series showrunner will now be done by Dario Scardapane who was a writer on the Netflix Punisher series so it will help make it a focus of the more mature nature of the original series. It has also been confirmed that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead who worked on Moon Knight will be some directors of the series so it does sound like it is in some good hands. Now it remains to be seen who will be writing the series but I am sure we'll hear more of the casting of showrunning in due time and when I do I will update in a later video.

What are your thoughts on these choices and are you still excited for this series? Let me know your thoughts down below

And with that that brings us to the end of Weird Mind News Room shift and I hope that you have enjoyed my rambling for another week and I hope to see you back again for another shift soon l. Let me know your thoughts on all that was discussed down in the comments and as always you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday and like my last post to wish you all a very Happy Halloween :)

Signing off
