Weird Mind News Room Episode 48: Jan 22nd- 28th

*music for a vacation for the Yakuza*

Hello to all of you very wonderful people out there and everywhere and all forms of how you see yourself as you are valid for who you are to the newest episode of Weird Mind News Room where I will be delving into all of the newest releases, some of the trailers and some of the various news stories of all there is to media from the last week so without further ado, lets get into the content from this week.

All of us new Releases

Movies
All of us Strangers
So the 2 films for this week are both in the focus of some award season films and the first movie has some big Irish Talent with the somber film of All of Us Strangers. Now this film will follow Adam who becomes acquainted and entwined with the mysterious Harry and a relationship soon forms between the 2 and must deal with these new emotions while also dealing with the death of his parent who he keeps seeing alive after they passed 30 years ago. Now this film sounds very confusing I will say but it has garnered some really strong positive reception for the lead performances and its plot and story and themes and if you want to check it out yourself and make your own crack at explaining the film then you can check it out now in cinemas.

The Color Purple (2023)
And as for the 2nd film of this week, we are getting an all new retelling of a film that win numerous awards in the 90s coming back with an all new musical adaptation of The Color Purple. This film tells the story of Celie, who has faced many hardships in life from an abusive husband and being torn away from her sister and children, but soon with the help of a sultry singer of Shug Avery and her stepdaughter, she will find extraordinary strength in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Now this version like the original has also garnered some strong reception for it performances, production and musical numbers and if you want to check out this new version with a musical tone then you can check it out now in cinemas.

Tv Shows
Masters of the Air
Now on the TV side of things, we have recieved the first of the shows being based on an all new successor sequel to 2 of the most acclaimed war time miniseries of Band of Brothers and Pacific with the new miniseries of Masters of the Air. This series will follow the 100th Bomb Group (otherwise known as the Bloody Hundredth) as they risk their lives 25,000 feet in the air through their courage, loss and triumph as a brotherhood. Now the series has garnered some very strong praise for its cast, set pieces, story and attention to detail, that is on par with the 2 previous miniseries and if you want to check it out for yourself, the first 2 episodes are available to stream on Apple TV+ with a new episode out every Friday.

Masters of the Universe: Revolution
Now for the series that will provide you the POWER!!!!!! as we have the follow up to the divisive series from 3 years ago based on the popular warrior of Eternia with the all new Masters of the Universe: Revolution. This new season will see Teela joining forces with He-Man and the other Masters on their quest to save Eternia from the grip of Darkness of the evil Skeletor who has garnered a bit of a technological upgrade. Now this series has garnered a better reception by both critics and audiences over Revelations with praise for its visuals, plot and character development, though some critiques stem to its action feeling a little lacking and the episode count feeling too short, but if you want to go on an epic adventure then you can check out this 5 episode season now on Netflix.

Games:
Tekken 8
Now on the game side of things, its looking like its time to fight it out to be the ultimate champion as we have recieved the long awaited 8th installment in the Tekken franchise. This new games plot takes places 6 months after the end of 7 and focuses on the final confrontation between father and son Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama, with the latter wishing to kill the former in order to end the chaos within their family lineage. Now this game has recieved universal acclaim praising it progression, story and aggressive gameplay and many labelling it the best in the series and if you want to battle it out to see who is the very best you can do so now on PS5, Xbox series X/S and PC.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
And to wrap up the games and new releases of the week as we are returning to a series that seems to be releasing full large scale games very quickly with a return to the group of Yakuza with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This game will see you follow on from the 2020 game and its 2023 spin off as you play as Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, as they take a trip to Hawaii to help the former reunite with their mother and the latter finding a way to survive with a terminal illness. Now this game has also garnered some very well received reception from critics for its plot, setting and gameplay and if you want a fun island getaway game then you can get it now on PS5, Series X/S and PC.

Like a Trailer: infinite possibilities

Avatar: The Last Airbender (live action series)
Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Money. Combined together will see the forces of the world come together with an all new look at the all new live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Now the series will follow Aang, an airbender who with the help of siblings of Katara and Sokka, will go on a journey to learn the four elements and become the true Avatar and save the lands after the fire nation attacked and learn some lessons along the way. Now with most series with an Anime inspired inspiration getting a live action series from Netflix does not end well (See Death Note and Cowboy Bebop) with the only exception being One Piece, this new adaptation does not look too bad at all and does look very well made and that their may be some love and respect to the original series (and hopefully won't end up like the terrible movie version) and you can see how this series will play out when it releases onto Netflix on February 22nd.

Road House Remake
Now for the film version that I was think was really not needed of a remake of a late 80s action classic as we have gotten our first look at the new Amazon remake of Road House. Now this follows a former UFC middleweight fighter who is given a job working at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys that are soon going to be discovered that things are not as they seem. Now the reason I am on the fence about this is while the choice of Jake Ghyllenhaal is a great choice, I do wonder why they thought a good casting was with Conor McGreggor as he is not an actor, but he fits the role to some degree and the film honestly doesn't look too bad but we will find out how this will play out when the film releases on Amazon Prime on March 21st.

The Monkey Man
And the last of the trailers came out of nowhere earlier while writing this and this is coming from acclaimed actor Dev Patel in his directorial debut and Comedian turned horror director Jordan Peele with the new action film The Monkey Man. This new film will follow Patel playing an ex-con who emerges from the confines to take on a world enmeshed in corporate greed and eroding spiritual values and will seek revenge that took everything from him years ago. Now I saw this being hyped on socials and then seeing this is a new form of a John Wick style film from the trailer I was immediately hooked and it looks really cool and you can check it out for yourself when this film releases in cinemas on April 5th.

News for your consideration

The big announcements and snubs of the Academy Award nominees
Now we are starting the news stories for the week with of course the big and final part to the nomination or award stories (for about 6 weeks) but now we have the nominations for this years academy awards and I am going to give a little bit of the big nominees, the Best Picture nominations and then a little brief opinion of some complaints I have for this show of nominations (I will delve more in the actual prediction awards) so lets get to discussing the big awards.

So I'll start with the Best Picture nominees as some of these will of course connect to the big nominations of the night and we have 10 films in this category with varying styles (with one film I feel should have been added but that's personal opinion for later). The 10 Nominees are:

1.American Fiction 2. Anatomy of a fall 3.Barbie 4.The Holdovers 5.Killers of the Flower Moon 6.Maestro 7.Oppenheimer 8.Past Lives 9.Poor Things and 10.The Zone of Interest.

As for the biggest nominations of the night, the big nominee is with Nolan's Oppenheimer with 13 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. 2nd biggest nominated is Poor things with 11 nominations including BP, Director for Yorgos Lantimos and Best Actress for Emma Stone. Killers of Flower Moon came in 3rd with 10 nominations including similar to previous 2 and an academy first with Lily Gladstone for best actress, the first indigenous woman for best actress award nominee. 4th spot is with Barbie with 8 and has 2 of the biggest talking points of complaint and lastly in the top 5 is with Maestro with 7 nominations which see Bradley Cooper getting a best director and Actor nomination.

Now the last thing I will delve on is some of my own and some other personal complaints from the internet and the big one in discussion online is the snubbing of Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie for Barbie in best director and Best Actress which I do see was a big snub for if it wasn't for these 2, the big success would never would've happened and if it wasn't we would've ended up with a Barbie movie starring Amy Schumer. Now while I agree with the snubbing on that, the one I am annoyed is one that happens every year and that is the Academy's neglect to Animations as some of the films (in particular Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse and The Boy and The Heron) should have gotten some much better respect and recognition. to me Spider-verse should've gotten a best score and even to the stretch of best picture for its achievement in animation, story and cinema instead of just being stuck to best animated feature, and collective with Boy and the Heron from acclaimed studio Ghibli director of Hayao Miyazaki (as well as a certain Kaiju film) should have gotten a best international feature nomination but again it only really the academy showing more in the films that don't have the biggest of audiences are getting a focus while ones that appeal to large audiences get sidelined. I will delve more into all of this more in the separate piece when I give my predictions for the night.

But what are your thoughts on the Nominations, were you happy in the choices and what ones were you disappointed in general didn't get nominated. Let me know where your own thoughts are down below in the comments.

The perfect Weapon may be voiced by a Jedi and get some of his own spin-off
Now onto a story of some rumoured news and this relates to the last of the video game adaptations that we will be seeing this year and that is of course with the blue blur of Sonic the Hedgehog. Now we are seeing 2 new variations of returning to the live action universe of Sonic with Knuckles coming out sometime soon and the other of course is the 3rd entry in the Sonic film franchise and going off the post credits tease and the behind the scenes photo we recieved recently, we know one of the big new additions is fan favourite character of Shadow the Hedgehog. Now the big question that has been discussed is who will be voicing the Edgier Hog as its been seen 2 of the 3 main characters have gotten a new voice actor for their character and from some of the rumoured new casting news may be the case it is getting a new and familiar voice. Now according to some rumours floating about it seems that actor Hayden Christensen may have been in talks to play Shadow, with the actor many of you's may know was Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars series which I feel makes some decent choice and casting for the character for someone that can play someone that has been troubled and dark and mysterious and I feel it makes sense. Now that is not the only news that has come from this universe as it has also been in the talks that we may even see Shadow getting a spin-off of their own which could be interesting but most case it may end up like the Shadow game which means he will most likely end up with a gun. Now it is all early stages at the moment and simply rumours but once we hear any more word on this film then I will update in a later video.

But what do you think of the rumoured casting for this character and who do you think they will cast as Shadow and would you watch a spin off film or series based on him as well? Let me know your thoughts and choices down below and lets discuss the whole ordeal.

Who's movie gets leaked onto socials you see, SpongeBob SquarePants
Now onto some news that may affect the industry as a whole and some possible concerning news and this comes from the case of leaks, specifically the leak of an entire film on the messiness of social media (one in particular that is a lot worse then others). Now to many you may not have known that their is not one but 2 SpongeBob films releasing over the course of the next 2 years and one of them that was releasing onto streaming was a film that was starring Sandy Cheeks where teaming up with Spongebob will save Bikini Bottom from a new unknown villain. Now it was planned for a release on Netflix sometime this year but now it seems that may have to be moved up and promoted very quickly as earlier this week, the entire new film had been leaked online to the mess that is of Twitter in its entirety and has seen it been shared around and discussed on the social media and it has caused quite the mess and is also one of the 2 Nickelodeon properties that saw something of theirs leaked online with the other being the pilot episode of a new Fairly Odd Parents reboot. Now the method of how this ended up leaking online was that the studio that was doing the animation for this movie had made their servers public and this led to some snoops and internet hackers or something to come along and take the full movie and it has been confirmed to be given that a lot of the uploads of the film have been taken down by Paramount. Now what I see with this is the damn shame similar to when a films BTS images leak or some massive game spoilers similar to Last of Us Part II get leaked online and cause the case of something that people worked hard on and gave a lot of time and effort to get leaked by those that are impatient or ruin things for everybody and I feel it for all of those that put so much time into it for a big release on a streaming service to have to deal with this fallout. Hopefully it can be resolved and that it can go on to have a big launch sometime soon on Netflix cause it is really screwy that this happened. Also just to emphasize, don't go looking for it on Twitter or share it around and wait for its release to see it how it was meant to be seen.

But what are your thoughts on this film being fully leaked online and do you see other films or shows getting this happening to them afterwards or will it see it get more difficult for it to happen? Let me know your whole thoughts and opinions down below in the comments.

Welcome to a new Era of Jurassic Park
Now for some news that seems to be coming 65 Million Years in the making as we are talking about Dinosaurs. Now as you are aware over the last few years we have seen the complete trilogy of films be released based on the beloved Michael Creaton novel and 1993 Spielberg film of Jurassic Park which has seen the release of 6 films over the course of the last 30 years. Now these films vary in appeal and popularity where the original is a timeless classic, the 2nd while not as good has some appealing aspects (like Jeff Goldblum) and the 3rd had a talking dinosaur before it went dormant for years and returned with a beginning trilogy of films of Jurassic World in 2015 that had some appeal from critics and audiences before the following 2 films had been panned a lot by both parties and it seemed from the conclusion of Dominion that was the end of it with some spin offs set in between being made. However it seems like we may be returning again to the park and in the way and its release may be sooner then expected as it seems like a new Jurassic Park film or films may be in the works. This new planned film is being written by David Koepp who wrote the original and its sequel of the Lost World as well as the last 2 entries in the Indiana Jones Franchise, so there may be some case of it returning to form again as a possibility The new project is described as an all new storyline and set in a new Jurassic era which could be separate to the recent trilogy and the original trilogy as well so it is unclear if any of the cast of both trilogies will be back for the project. At the moment no one is attached to direct but the other news is that their has been some rumblings that this film could be released as early as next year, so unless they are working away on the film in production, director and cast is anyone's guess. Now it is hard to see if it will bring the appeal and Wonder of the original that stands as an equal to that one but I am sure we will find out soon if anymore information comes to light.

But what are your thoughts on a new Jurassic Park film and what are your own thoughts on the sextology of films in this series in general? let me know all of your thoughts and opinions in the section down below.

Something seems wrong in the copied world of Pokémon
Now lets talk on some video game and on a game that I actually forgot to mention last week in the new releases as I did not know if it was a full release or not. Now if you have been online over the last little while then you may have heard of this new game taking the internet by storm known simply as Palworld. Essentially this game boils down to being known as Pokémon with Guns where you explore vast lands, find creatures called pals and have them work with you or join in battle against dangerous creatures. Now to many it has been garnering some controversy from fans of the popular pocket monster franchise as many have seen it as a blatant copy of the game and it is this that has seen the company itself start look into the whole ordeal itself. Now according to the Pokémon company, they made an announcement that they have been made aware of the whole Palworld situation and are looking into the whole ordeal and see if there is massive copyright infringement happening with the game and if it will see it cause a massive shut down. Now personally I can see it as a thing looking very similar in tone and that some of the Pals do have similar designs to some of the established characters from the original series that it will affect its outcome, however, what I can't agree with is that this has seen some fans of Pokémon send threats to the developers of the game for this game and copying the designs which is never a good thing to do and shouldn't be allowed at all and it only makes things worse in general. Now whether or not we will see this game being taken off sale is anyone's guess but if there is any updates on this story I will update in a later post.

But what are your thoughts on this whole investigative ordeal and if you have played this game, what are your opinions on the game as a whole and do you see it as a massive copied game? Let me know what you think of it all down in the comments below.

Marvel and Sony are fighting custody over their wallcrawler
Now for the 2nd last story, we are delving into some new news concerning the ever expanding MCU and in particular talking on the famous wall crawler of Spider-Man as we have some news regarding his next upcoming adventure. Now the last time we saw Peter Parker was in the massively popular trilogy conclusion of No Way Home where he had Strange cast a spell to make the world forget his identity and that Peter Parker existed so that the people he loves and cares for don't get themselves caught in his mess and starting out with very little except being a Hero (with the help of 2 other variants of Spider-Man from alternate universes). A short while after the films success we got word that Spider-Man would return in future Marvel films like the next Avengers film but it was also another solo film with a 4th entry being worked on and this one has been seeing a little bit of a dilemma kerfuffle between the 2 studios that work on the film and character. You see Marvel and Sony have 2 different visions for the upcoming release of the next Spidey film where Marvel, Feige and Tom Holland want to have a much more grounded street level Spider-man film where the main antagonist could be a villain from its rogues gallery or even the likes of Kingpin which how Echo ended could see him team up with Daredevil, Echo or Ms Marvel and Kate Bishop and even the likes of reintroducing Jessica Jones or the Punisher into the MCU, whereas Sony is looking to do more of another multiverse level film that would also see them want to bring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back as their respective Spideys. Now my own approach to this is that while I would love to see the 3 Peter's teaming up again, I feel doing it in the 4th film would feel a bit underwhelming, whereas having them return in the massive idea of the Avengers movies makes a lot more sense. It is also the case in this more grounded story that you could implement the Devil's Reign story where Kingpin has become the Mayor of New York and has made it difficult for Superheroes to defend the city as he makes it a law to ban them and it could see some of these more street wise heroes make an appearance to take him down from some of the defenders we have yet to be reintroduced to and even maybe introduce some characters like Gwen Stacy, Black Cat or even the likes of Miles Morales into the MCU and build it up to the big multiverse crossover with Avengers 5 and Secret Wars. Now this is what is causing a little of the delay in the film with the other being Marvel reducing the amount of content released each year which I feel is good thing but at the moment we'll have to wait and see how this next film turns out in the near future.

But what are your thoughts on this new Spider-Man film and do you want to see more of a multiverse story or more grounded street level story with some other familiar faces appearing to some degree? Let me know what you think down in the comments below.

Bob and the gang have a big construction project planned for the big screen

And the final story for this week is coming to us in the form of an announcement of a childhood classic getting an all new big screen adaptation. Now over the last few decades we have seen some forms of classic children's characters get the big screen release treatment including Dora the Explorer, Thomas and Friends, Postman Pat and many more, well now it has been confirmed a certain builder and his talking work vehicles are heading our way to the big screen as it was announced this week that we are getting a full feature length film based on Bob the Builder from the company of Mattel, the studio that owned the rights to the highest grossing film of last year. Now this is getting a little bit of a different setting as this film will see Bob (in this film confirmed to be voiced by Hamilton actor Anthony Ramos) taking a job over in Puerto Rico where he is on a big construction job and where he will take on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build. Now the only other big name attached to this project is with the producer on this film being music superstar Jennifer Lopez which may see some big name talent become involved with this project as it develops. Now it is unclear on who will direct this feature film adaptation and also the case of if any of the other regular characters like Scoop, Muck, Dizzy, Rolley, Lofty, Wendy or Spud and the gang will appear but I guess we will have to see when the project comes along and whether or not if they can fix it from the redesign of recent memory being a "yes we can" or a "no it fucked". If there is one thing I do hope that we hear somewhere in this film that Barbie somewhat failed on due to legal issues is that we hear their version of the Mambo No.5 version they made years ago cause that version is an absolute banger.

But I want to know your opinions on this, are you interested or excited to see a new adaptation of Bob the Builder and who else do you see joining this film and what other properties do you see get a film adaptation from Mattel? Let me know all your thoughts and theories down in the comments below.

And with all of that, this brings us to the end of episode 48 of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you enjoyed listening to all of the rambling once again for another week of content. Let me know your thought on all that was discussed on what you saw, played and listened to and give me your thoughts on all of them in the comments below. As always I do hope that you stay being wonderful people cause you all are wonderful people and have a great day everyday doing many great things cause I believe in you in achieving them and I will see you all in the next blog :)
