Weird Mind News Room Episode 68: June 10th - 16th

*music for feeling all of the emotions*

Good day to all of you wonderful people to the newest weekly edition of Weird Mind News Room where this week I will be as per usual giving the rundown of what you will expect from the new releases for this week, the Trailers that have appeared in the information superhighway and the mixed array of News stories from the past week and this week, so lets not waste much more time and lets get to talking about the content of the week

The new releases that appear outside my head

Movies
Inside Out 2
Starting off the week with the big film release and we are checking in and wondering ow our emotions are doing as after a near decade long gap, it is time to return to the mind of Riley as we have recieved a sequel to Pixar's Inside Out 2. This film will take place a year after the events of the original and see Riley's Emotions of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger deal with the new concerning aspect of Puberty and growing up with many new worries and that worry comes in the form of new emotions of Envy, Ennui, Embarassment and their leader of Anxiety. Soon the original emotions get surpressed and taken over by the new group and will soon see the group make their way back to headquarters before they change Riley for the worst. Reception for this film like the original has been very well recieved with praise for the voice cast, animation, humor and heart, with some small critiques that not all of the new emotions get much of a screen presence and some see it as not much of a tear jerker as the original but still is worth the watch and if you want to get in touch with your emotions again, you can catch this new film out now in cinemas.

TV Shows
House of the Dragon Season 2
Onto TV and a fire will rise and a battle of 2 sides are about to begin as after a near 2 year gap, it is time to return to Westeros for the 2nd season of House of the Dragon. This will follow on from the end of the first season as the civil war rises between Queen Rhaenyra and King Aegon II or more particularly with his mother Queen Alicent as the councils of Green and Black go to war with one another all in the chance to find who will sit upon the Iron Throne. Reception on the 2nd season so far has been well recieved for the series with praise of building on the spectacle and emotional stakes that will lead to an all out war for the throne and knowing that we got the announcement of a 3rd season for the show this week it will most case build up for a while and I hope the season will stick the landing and if you want to check it out yourself it is available to watch on Max in the US and on Sky Atlantic on early Monday Morning (2am to be exact and what I will be staying up for).

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2
Following up in the first half of the season a month ago it is time to return to the 3rd season of Bridgerton for the remaining part of the season and see Lady Penelope continue her love and romance with her love for Colin while also hoping to accept of her secret penned identity of Lady Whistledown. While the first half had a bit more of a mixed reception, Part 2 of the season seems to have faired a little better from the underwhelming first half which has still been bolstered by the strong lead performances of Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton and if you want to see how the season will wrap up then you can catch the full 3rd season now on Netflix.

The Boys Season 4

Its time to bring the pain and things are about to get messy as after a 2 year gap, it is finally time to return to a world where powerful beings live amongst us and it may be wise to take them down by any means necessary as we have now recieved the 4th season of The Boys. This new season is getting political as Victoria Neuman is easing closer and closer to the White House and under the Muscly thumb of Homelander who is trying to deal with control while also coming to terms with morality and for being a father to his estranged son Ryan. Meanwhile Butcher is dealing with his own demons with months to live from the effects of Temp V as him and the Boys must learn to deal with their differences and save the world before it is too late. Reception to this season like the other seasons has been very well recieved for its approach of satire, story, shock value and the performances of the cast with this technically having the lowest reception of the series due to the more political story but thats what happens when the real world and their world combine to make a hodge podge of mess but if you want to see how messy things will get then you can catch the first 3 episodes of the season now on Amazon Prime with a new episode every Thursday.

Trailers that may cause joy, discomfort and anxiety

The Wild Robot
Onto trailers, the first trailer we are finding ourselves lost in the wilderness with an unlikely protector that will learn to become more then they ever will be and this comes in the form of a new trailer for Dreamworks 4th film of this year with The Wild Robot. This plot will follow Roz, a robot that finds itself shipwrecked on a deserted island after the effects of a typhon and will soon have to learn to adapt to their newest surroundings that will lead to Roz to build relationships with some of the native animals and become a parental figure for a young orphaned Gosling. Soon when the company that created Roz tries to take her back and destroy her new home, she must become the protector for everyone on the island. Now I think there is one thing that I can agree upon and that is that this film look visually beautiful of the animation having a style similar to a spider-verse and Puss in Boots 2 animation style and it has a very wholesome and wonderful story coming from this new film from the studio and I for one am excited to check this film when it releases into cinemas on October 18th.

Arcane Season 2
The next trailer is finally giving many the long awaited follow up and conclusion to a surprise adaptation hit from 3 years ago for a game that is know for a divisive fanbase as we have finally gotten our first look at the 2nd season to the League of Legends series of Arcane. Not much is know on the likes of the plot for this upcoming 2nd part but will most case lead on from the end of the first season and see the continued story of 2 well known characters in the League of Legends series of Vi and Jinx. Things on the likes of plot are being kept under wraps for the moment which I can understand and I am sure by the time the series comes out and strikes with so much more brilliant visual animation that we will know how the whole story comes to an end. While no date has been announced as of yet, it has been confirmed that we will see this new season drop onto Netflix sometime this November.

Paddington In Peru
Now where are my manners as it is time for a bit of kindness and be respectful for one another as what this lovable little bear has taught us before in the past as after a bit of silence we have finally recieved the first trailer for the upcoming 3rd film of the marmalade loving bear with Paddington in Peru. This new film will Paddington and the Brown family head off across the globe to Deepest Peru to visit Aunt Lucy at the home of retired Bears, but when they arrive and discover she has gone off on a journey to find something deep in the jungles, The brown family and the little bear will head off on a grand adventure to find Aunt Lucy and discover what secrets the Jungle Holds. I have been very much anticipating this film cause I will not lie, I love the first 2 films as they are sweet, wholesome, charming and will not lie hear, Paddington 2 made me cry and will not be ashamed to say that and I am very much looking forward to checking this film out this Christmas when it releases into cinemas on November 8th.

Sausage Party: Foodtopia
The final trailer for the week is bringing it back to an animated project that for a while I actually forgot about, especially remembering the aspect of this being mature and the ending of this film being quite an experience to watch in a cinema with an audience cause it is something, but it is returning to a world where food is taking over as we have a trailer for the new animated sequel series of Sausage Party: Foodtopia. This follows on from the original film with the food fighting back against the humans and building a society for all food kind but things are not that simple and become more apparent once the rain comes and wipes out a lot of the society. Soon in order for them to fix the mess that has been left behind, Frank, Brenda, Barry and Sammy will go on a quest to find another dumb human to help out their situation. It has come to the case that this series was bound to happen and will of course also have the case that it will still be as crass and crude as the original film but I will give it a look when it releases in just under a months time on July 11th.

News that can provide some mixed emotions

The directors chair of discussion
We start off all of the news stories of the mixed variety with talking about the head honchos for any project and that comes in the form of some directors discussions as we have a bit of an announcement, some drama and some people dropping out of content and I will be giving them all a discussion here.

So we shall start with the first bit of news and it was a story from the end of last week that I did not have the time to put in but this comes into the relation of Bong Joon-Ho's upcoming new film of Mickey 17. So I had mentioned a while ago that the film was initially planned for release in late March of this year but then about 2 months out they delayed it to January 2025. Initially the theory as to why they did so was to avoid any competition with the studio's big tentpole film of Dune Part 2 but now the reason for it has to do with a bit of meddling from the studio of Warner Bros. You see the reported reason now for this film getting a delay is that they are wanting the oscar winning director to make a more "accessible" cut of the film but it seems the director is trying to stand his ground. This is once again showing that Warner Bros just cannot seem to stop themselves from interfering with the film projects (as seen with 2016's Suicide Squad, or Wonder Woman's ending, or Justice League 2017, or Birds of Prey or all the cancelled animated projects, Batgirl and Coyote vs ACME) which seems like a reoccurring theme with this company that said they were the only true storytellers left in the industry. The fact they are trying to interfere with another cut for a film from a director that garnered mass awards for their last film is really scummy and hopefully Bong will get his full vision released and not in a butchered mess.

Speaking of a director that to many seem to have been fucked over by the company of WB, we are now talking on the director with the questionable fanbase and love for slowing things down as we are talking on Zack Snyder. If you are aware, he did release 2 films in the span of the last 6 months of his new sci-fi series of Rebel Moon that were met with a mixed response (where a lot of critics and audiences and even some Snyder fans feeling disappointed in it and other Snyder fans calling it better then Dune Part 2 and the greatest sci-fi of all time) but now you may have some appeal of anticipation for some as it was announced this week that we have the confirmation of titles and release date for his directors cut for his duology and in the month before his new animated Norse god series. So it was confirmed that Rebel Moon Part 1: Chalice of Blood and Part 2: Curse of Forgiveness will both be releasing on the same day on August 2nd. Most case with this is that they will be an hour longer and clocking in around 3 hours and I will say more then half of that extra hour is probably slo-mo. Now I haven't had the energy to watch part 2 yet but I heard it was bad and after being so underwhelmed by part 1, it has taken me some time to do so but I will eventually and maybe do a double feature review and a separate short one for the directors cuts but I will see on that. Also as I mentioned, he has another project coming out known as Twilight of the Gods which will be dropping in late September.

The next director story is just going to be a short one and this is in relation to the somewhat unnecessary sequel from Pixar in the form of Toy Story 5. Now we know that the film is projected for a release in the next 2 years with a release in the Summer of 2026 and since then not much has been announced until this week as there has been some possible confirmation as to who will be directing this entry and it may have been confirmed to be in the form of Andrew Stanton. Stanton is no stranger to Pixar as he has directed some of their finest films including Finding Nemo and its sequel Finding Dory as well as the director of Wall-e and co-director for A Bugs Life, plus he is familiar with this series of films having written the story and scripts for the 4 previous films so he seems more then capable for the job. It is unclear of what the story for this film will entail and whether if one of the films in the series is about to be retconned or set in between one of them but I guess we will have to find out when the film continues deep into development

And the final story for the directors news is coming to us from the expansive universe of the MCU and this comes with the film of Blade. It has been seen that the film has been announced 5 years ago in 2019 and since then the project has been going through a bit of a messy development and it looks like the film may be still having some issues as it was announced on Wednesday that the 2nd Blade director of Yann Demange had left the project. Apparently it has been left from the project for a short while now and it seems that it may have to do with the vision for the film not going anywhere which is what happened with the original director cause the film was apparently barely 100 minutes long and Blade was more of a side character in his own film and had very little action. It has gotten so messy that even Mahershala Ali's agent or Lawyer has said that it has been a mess as to what is going on. This could be the reported rumour as to what the initial meeting of the studio with Oscar Winner Jordan Peele was about from last week as they could be getting him to direct this film but it will have to be seen how it turns out. Most case I can see this film getting delayed from its Late 2025 release into 2026 or later from all of this cause it really seems like everything is a mess for this vampire hunter.

But what are your own thoughts on all of these stories with directors and what are your opinions on each of the stories discussed? Let me know what you think down below.

You got any games on your console

So next on the list of stories for this week is delving into the topic from the end of last week and the start of this week is with the topics of the E3 replacement of Summer games fest and 1 or 2 other conferences from the week and while one I have not much to delve on I will give some of the big announcements of the 2 big ones as there was some big announcements

So I will talk on the one direct that I have really nothing to give on as I felt it was not worth a look was the recent Ubisoft forward as everything in the direct was essentially stuff we already knew was on the way out. A good 3rd of the conference (of about 15ish minutes) of the conferences was made up of the upcoming Star Wars game with a performance from a music band, 10 minutes of new gameplay and a trailer of some things you will experience in the open world. Besides that we got some announcements of new updates and DLC for the 2 Prince of Persia games that had released this year with The Lost Crown getting a DLC expansion in September and The Rogue Prince getting a Temple of Fire update. It was not the last announcement for this series as after being announced about a decade ago, the long awaited Sands of Time Remake was alive and on the way.... in 2026. They showed some new content coming to their new online shooter of Xdefiant, Skull and Bones was getting some new updates for season 2 and 3 and a 5v5 mode coming this summer, the recently released Avatar game will be recieved some story DLC in July with the Sky Breaker, Crew Motorfest hinted at their year 2 content, they announced the newest entry in the popular Anno 117 series with Pax Romana before the conference ended with about 13 minutes of gameplay for the upcoming Assassins Creed Shadows of the character that has caused the mobs of people calling the series woke to come out in droves (when this series had you fight the pope and George Washington who had become corrupted by the piece of Eden). All in all felt disappointed and hoped for some other things like a new Rayman game or even a smallest bit of update to the Beyond Good and Evil sequel but maybe there is a 2nd part to the conference next month or something.

Now we'll move onto the big conference and give a breakdown of the big announcements first from Summer Games Fest.

First off we got the announcement of the next game from the LEGO game developer and it is coming to us in the form of a game based on another popular game with Lego Horizon Adventures. This will see Aloy and co go on a quest to save their home and inhabitants from the Mechanized animals all in a fun Lego form and has been confirmed for a release in the Holiday season for PC, PS5 and even for Switch. (Also I wonder if people will make the whole questionable look points they did about ALoy from Forbidden west saying she was not attractive enough)

Next they announced a sequel to the 8 player co-op zombie shooter of No More Room in Hell 2 which was announced with a reveal trailer and that you can try it out for yourself with an early access play coming later this year at Halloween.

Next is a return to the Wizarding world as if you had felt that last years Hogwarts Legacy was lacking in the sportsmanship of Quidditch then you are in luck as I feel we may have recieved a sequel to the PS2 / Xbox Quidditch game with the new Quidditch champions game with an all new release coming out on September 3rd for PS5, Series X/S, Switch and PC

We then recieved a look at the next game from the creator of the small indie hit of Choo Choo Charles with Cuffbust that will see you play as a small Koala bear like creature and with a group of friends must find a way to bust out of prison. Seems cute and simple and is projected for a release next year on PC.

next on the list was with Star Wars but we already mentioned that game so following that was with the new indie game of Neva that will have you play as a woman who comes across a wolf Cub and goes on a journey across a beautiful colorful world and it does look stunning and will be coming out later this year with PS5, Series X/S, Switch and PC.

Next it was time to don the cowl and become the Knight as we have recieved a official story based trailer for the upcoming VR title of Batman Arkham Shadows that will be set between Arkham Origins and Asylum and set on the 4th of July and see Batman go on a mission to save Jim Gordan, Harvey Dent and other political officials from being executed on what is known as "the day of Wrath" from the new villain known as the Rat King and his cultish devotees and will be released onto the Meta Quest 3 (not sure on the 2) sometime this fall.

What followed from the Dark Knight was with some new look at the next wave of characters that will be making an appearance in the year 2 content for Street Fighter 6 that will be joining the roster overtime.

Next on the list was a new co-op that has the inspiration of Braveheart in mind as we have a new co-op game of Tears of Metal that is set in Scotland and have you fighting dragons and will be releasing onto PC sometime soon.

the next 3 announcements came in the form of the new fighting game of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves releasing next year on PS4/5, Series X/S and PC. Then they showed off a game of Battle Crush which will be releasing in an early access on July 27th on Nintendo Switch and then was followed up with the new Gundam game of MechaBreak and will be releasing in closed beta on PC in August.

We then got a wave of some new games coming to us from Horror film studio of Blumhouse with their selection of games such as Crisol Theatre of idols, Grave Seasons, Sleep Awake, Fear the Spotlight, The Simulation and Project C that will all be coming out sometime soon.

Now for a game based on a series that has been getting a little fucked over by the brand that own the rights to them (fuck Hasbro for cancelling the 2017 film sequel, Netflix reboot and everything else) as they unveiled a New Power rangers games known as Rita's Rewind that will be making its way to consoles and PC sometime soon.

next came this new somber but beautiful looking game known as Deer and Boy of a small Boy looking after a baby deer and escaping from a world of magic and will see the deer grow as the game progresses. It has no release date yet but I am sure may be a true indie darling.

Yes unveiled a new look at the horror game of Slitterhead of you fighting against Parasites and other creatures and will be releasing to consoles and PC on November 8th

The most unexpected thing to find at 3am is a new game based on the character of Killer bean which will be a 3rd person shooter coming out in early access this summer.

They then unveiled a look at the new perilous mountain climbing game of Cairn that show the dangers of the experience and based on the history of one of the developers and will be coming out sometime soon.

There was a few other ones but to end off the big announcements from the game fest was with the announcement of the launch of the first expansion for the Alan Wake sequel of Night Springs which released last Saturday out of nowhere.

Now for the Xbox showcase we saw a lot of excellent announcements which also unveiled the first official look at this years Call of Duty Title with a return to the Black Ops series putting up in the Gulf War of the 90s and will be dropping on October 25th.

It is time to rip and tear as they had announced that we are getting another new entry in the Doom Franchise with The Dark Ages that will have new weapons, now worlds and even a mech and flying sections and looks rad (and props to the modding community of the classic doom for making the new saw shield into the classic game an hour after the announcement) and we have a big game for 2025. Now all we need is a new Animal Crossing game to come out the same day and bring back that little wholesome crossover.

A new look at the upcoming State of Decay 3 was shown to be on the way but no release date has been shown.

We then recieved a return to the world of Dragon Age with the new retitled game of the Veilguard which will be making its way to the consoles and PC coming out in the Fall of this year.

The studio behind We Happy Few (a game I will play on my channel sometime soon) unveiled their new fantasy bayou based game of South of Midnight that looks visually appealing and making its way to consoles and pc next year.

They then showed a cinematic for the next World of Warcraft Expansion of the War within that will be releasing on August 26th.

They then showed off some new gameplay of the remake of Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater and does look pretty great. Currently it has no release date but I have heard either a Fall 2024 release or 2025 at the latest.

The creators of Age of Empires have brought a new retold form of history with a focus on the Gods and legends of old with Age of Mythology that will see a release this year on September 4th.

Joanna Dark is back as after a near 20 year silence for this series, an all new all upgraded entry in the Perfect Dark series made its presence known with some look at some gameplay for the new entry and it does look really great and I for one will give this a try overtime and will be dropping sometime soon.

More new content for the year old entry of Diablo 4 will be getting an all new expansion for the title with Vessel of Hatred that will be bringing some dark and spoopy looking scares when it drops on October 8th this year.

There was an all new look at the next entry in the dormant Fable series that now has a confirmed release for 2025 and it seems a little bit of the internet has stopped giving out about the characters look so thats a positive.

Another new 5v5 shooter that also involves cards with Fragpunk was announced at the event that will be dropping onto the console sometime next year.

Now for another new simple peaceful indie game of Winter Burrow where you play as a smol boi mouse as he must rebuild a new burrow after returning to their home in devastation and in the process of rebuilding must find their lost aunt and it seems like a cute little adventure that will be coming out next year.

Meanwhile after that another game that got a new look was the upcoming sequel in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise showing some more of the game before its release on consoles and PC on September 5th.

and the final game announced after the new all digital Series X and 2TB version coming out later this year they ended everything with the unveiling of a new game in the Gears f War series with a new prequel known as E-Day that is on the way and will probably release late next year or 2026 and after that is everything that was unveiled in a surprisingly interesting and really surprisingly good conferences (for the most part).

So after all of that I will love to know what games out of everything that was announced are you looking forward to the most? Let me know what you think of it all down below in the comments.

From the pages of comics and stories of the past to a return to the screens
Now this next story will be a whole lot shorter as I am just to give some new updates about some new adaptations of any updates or announcements that have come out based on things based on comics as well as some based on a revival or continuation of a classic show

So first is a small update relating to one of the new releases of this week and that is of course with the Boys. Now a few weeks ago I made mention that the series was being renewed for a 5th season but more new info has come to light for that season and that is the case that the next season will be the main series last as just a day before the premiere of the new season one of the showrunners uploaded the image above of a redacted info for the final episode of this season with a tease to say see you next season for the final run. It is expected that it was bound to find a closing point for the show giving some of the big names have been either killed off or retired and depending on how this season will go will lead to probably an all out messy war to a dark final season but I guess we will have to see as the series continues on.

Next is a little update on the side of DC in the realm of the Reevesverse as while we know the Batman sequel is another 2 years out (and has also been confirmed or rumoured now that they will be filming Part 2 and a Part 3 back to back sometime next year) we do have a little update on one part that is on the way this year and that is with the upcoming series on The Penguin as it has been confirmed earlier this week that the series will be premiering sometime this September which will work well given it is after House of the Dragon is all finished for another season and in a prime slot of the Fall season so I for one am excited to find an official date for the series to plan out to watch it with an important person and see what the story will provide.

The last of the announcements is on the side of some animated cartoon adventures as it has been announced that the likes of the shows of The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time and Regular show will all be getting a returning form in either a new film, series or spin-off or a mix of all of those items in one to be releasing sometime over the next few years. While all of this is exciting, it will be seen if Warner will actually release them and not push the animation to the side and give them a chance (like all the other stuff they cancelled) but we will have to see what the outcome is on these project as they get deeper into development.

But what are your thoughts on all of these announcements and are you excited for any of these announcements in particular. Let me know what you think of it all down below

A deer caught in the headlights
Now the final story is based on some drama that has come from the aftermath of a release, was meant to bring this up last week and has all come from the basis of a true story (allegedly). So if you have been on the internet or on the streaming services for the last few weeks then you may remember there was a small limited series that really took off on the internet and that was in the form of the Netflix series of Baby Reindeer, which told the story of the shows creator and lead stars situation of how one simple kind gesture to a sad young woman led to a serious stalker behaviour from the woman known as Martha that consisted of him being bombarded with 41,000 emails, 350 voice messages, 106 letters and a certain amount of tweets over the course of what may have been 2 years or more and was all shown in this limited series. Now the internet being the internet apparently found the real "Martha" and seh soon spole out by going on Piers Morgan's talk show where she denied sending that amount of emails and other stuff (though mentioned she had contacted him by email before). Many flaws in the near hour long interview (which you can find on YouTube) started to pop up, including the questionable logical way that she could send that many emails as she mentioned she had 4 or 6 phones and a lot of other stuff where her story seemed to have changed and since then she has made some responses from what I saw of images of her social media and it looks like she is not backing down from any of this as earlier last week, it was announced that "Martha" was planning to Sue Netflix for a lump sum of £132 Million ($175 Million) for damages. While this seems like a logical thing to approach on the cusp of suing for slander and other means. It does bring the question that they will have to present the 41,000 emails and everything else into court and will be surprised if we see this to be true but in my experience it looks more towards the basis that this may be a thing she did, as around the same time the lawsuit went out, another victim of "Martha" who's husband and herself was harassed by her and she nearly caused child services to take the woman's baby to be taken away for false reports of abuse, went on Piers talk show and gave her input on the matter and it is shocking to hear that this woman's level of harassment is quite messy and scary to deal with. It remains to be seen at the moment if this whole trial will go ahead but I will update if there is any more news about it all.

But what are your opinions of this, do you see this going to trial and which side do you think has the better chance of getting a verdict in their favor? Let me know what you think of it all down below.

And with all of that, this bring me to the end of a very overlong episode of Weird Mind News room and I do hope that you will enjoy all that is presented in this episode. Let me know your thoughts and opinions about everything down below and as always I hope that you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday and I will see you all in the next piece :)
