This episode of Weird Mind news room is written and filmed in front of a non existent studio audience

(New Thumbnail focus as the last one is not working anymore and will change the others again)

Hello again everyone and welcome to the newest episode of the Weird Mind news room and the first that will be made into a video version as well too (try and edit and create the whole thing by early next week). For those new to the series, this is where we will look deep into all that released this week, new trailers for upcoming projects and talk on news from casting, announcements and releases. So lets not waste too much more time and lets get to talking media

In a cinema, streamer or console near you

Movies

Fast X

It's time for the power of family to make sense for more things that defy the laws of physics and common sense with Fast X. Before I get into this, I have one complaint of the title for this movie as they had a perfectly great opportunity to call this one Fast 10 Your Seatbelts and I would've been happy with that but makes this sound like its gonna cross over with XXX or the Xander Cage films. But anyway this newest film will see the fast family team up against their most deadliest enemy yet in the form of Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), the son of Herman Reyes whos fortune and father was taken from him back in Fast Five and he is out for revenge against everyone that is associated with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Now the reviews have been quite mixed as while this being the start of the end of a duology (or now a supposed trilogy) and every film since after 7 getting a bit too cartoonish and goofy, it may be seeing it run out of gas but I will give it a watch in the next few days and give my insight soon after

Beau Is Afraid

Now from an action film to a new horror film from Ari Aster, the acclaimed director behind Hereditary and Midsommar, has brought a new surrealist tragicomedy horror with a plot that is quite very hard to explain but the basis is Beau is a mild-mannered but overly paranoid man who will embark on a surreal Odyssey to get himself home in order to attend his mothers funeral and confronting his greatest fears along the way. Now this film has been out for about a month now in the US and the reviews have been decent but compared to his previous 2 films it is the weakest in the bunch, with great praise to the director and main star of Joaquin Phoenix with most complaints being its overlong runtime at exactly 3 hours and some of the discussion points and themes (which I have heard bits about but will have to see it myself to confirm them) but I am sure I can find a cinema that will show this and give it a watch when I can.

The Outlast Trails (early access)

Now if you are looking for something a little spooky to play on your PC and even get scared with some friends then the newly released early access of the Outlast trials may be the choice for you. You take on the role of a helpless Volunteer for some new experimentation done by the evil in game company of Murkoff during the height of the Cold War and will test the levels of insanity you may reach and where it could be that going mad may be the most sane thing to do. Now reviews have been modest and of course given that this is still in early access, it will of course have its share of technical problems but overtime that will improve and for the content you have for it at the start is a decent amount with more to come, so if you want to have some scares or maybe some laughs then why not give it a try.

LEGO 2K Drive

The last release for this week is a little more lighter in tone, but does involve driving in custom build vehicles with the newest LEGO game of 2k drive. This new open world driving game will have you race around and do mission by land, sea and possibly air in some madcap cars or ones you can create with the only limit is your imagination (and if there is some hidden paywall that limits you as well). I have seen some alright reviews for this game and if you want to take a bit of a rest from exploring Hyrule (which I do not plan to stop doing currently) or other heavy games, then taking a drive in a LEGO world does not sound too bad

Coming soon to observe with your visual or hearing peripherals

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1
Staring this week, after first releasing a trailer a year ago when the film was not out for another 14 months, we finally get a new trailer for the highly anticipated 7th film in the Mission Impossible series with part 1 of Dead Reckoning. In this new film Ethan Hunt and the IMF must track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity if it falls into the wrong hands and with the control of the world at stake, a deadly race across the globe will begin. Lot of interesting actions scenes, some new faces I look forward to seeing have their moments and given this is a 2 part finale to the series I look forward to this when it comes out in July.

Extraction 2
Next we head over to the streaming Giant Netflix where we have gotten a full official trailer to the follow up to 2020's extraction starring Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Ross, who after being presumed dead at the end of the original, has returned to help in another high class mission of saving certain important people or stop some new threat. The first one turned out well from Endgame directors of the Russo Brothers, so it could go down well again when this releases in a few short weeks in June

Haunted Mansion
Now we head over to the house of Mouse with Disney and their new take on the classic theme park attraction of the Haunted Mansion. This time around a Mother and her son enlist the help of a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help to rid their new home of supernatural squatters. This is of course a 2nd attempt at a haunted mansion film after the original one from around 20 years ago starring Eddie murphy, with this one getting some big names like Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Jared Leto, Danny Devito and the scream queen herself Jamie Lee Curtis. Its looks interesting, visually it could turn out great but I will see closer to the release in late July.

Five Night's at Freddy's
Now after nearly 8 years since the film adaptation was announced we finally got the first official teaser to the film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's. This new film will see a troubled security guard beginning to work at his new job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, but while spending his first night on the job, he realizes that the late shift at Freddy's won't be so easy to make it through. Now I mentioned an episode or 2 back that a trailer for this was leaked online, but I have heard that the version was a lot longer and not properly finished, so they probably made this soon after to avoid any more stress. I think that it looks great so far, the animatronics from the Jim Henson studio look great and very accurate to the first games design. The only complaint I have is I think the red eyes look a bit goofy, unless they explain it for security scanning or night vision then sure but I would prefer the likes of the hollow sunken eyes of the game with 2 tiny white dots as more of a better choice. Either way I am much looking forward to its release just in time for Halloween this year.

Killers of the Flower Moon
After getting our one piece of imagery for this film for the longest time, just this week we have finally gotten the first look footage at the newest Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon. This new film is set back in the 1920s where the Osage Native American tribe from Osage county, Oklahoma, is murdered on their land when there is the discovery of Oil, and the FBI is soon brought in to investigate the situation. I believe that this is based on a true story of events that did happen back a century ago, so there is some discussion of keeping it respectful to the source material and going off the early reviews coming from the currently ongoing Cannes Film Festival, it has been collectively agreed that this is one of this years best. I am sure we will get more info on the film and see a little more of the film before its now confirmed release in mid October this year.

Mortal Kombat 1 (Mortal Kombat 12)
Now for the only really big game announcement we got some footage or trailer for, we had learned last week that a Mortal Kombat game was being planned for release this year and that was confirmed this week with the announcement of Mortal Kombat 1. This is seen as a new Reboot to the franchise and will see some of the familiar faces of the franchise including Sub Zero, Scorpion, Mileena, Kitana, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Liu Kang and many more to be announced. I am sure we will get some new gameplay footage during the upcoming Playstation State of Play but we will be seeing more of this overtime before its release this September.

Five Nights at Freddy's Security Breach: Ruin
It was not just the trailer for the Five nights at Freddy's movie this week as we just got the first look trailer for the newest DLC to Security breach with Ruin. It seems you will be taking on the role of a new character named Cassie who enters into the closed off mega pizzaplex in the effort to find and rescue Gregory (the main character from the original game) and discover the mess and secrets hidden amongst the ruins and decaying animatronics of the Pizzaplex. It is hard to tell which of the many endings the game had is the canon one but I am sure we will find out when the DLC will drop in July

Nimona
Now this next film trailer has had quite the development process as this started as a film being made by Blue Sky Studios, who you may know for the Ice age or Rio movies and was their next one after Spies in Disguise. After the acquisition of Fox by Disney, Blue sky would inevitably be shut down in April 2021, getting all their planned projects scrapped and possibly shopped around. Disney was not planning to continue making this one given they seem to have some grudge against having anything with themes relating to the LGBTQIA+ (given they butched a planned same sex relationship for Turning Red, tried to cut out a quick same sex kiss in Lightyear and then Queer bait in most of their live action remakes but never emphasize how they are) it was nearly shelved before it was saved by Netflix who are now releasing it very shortly. As for the plot, it is based on a graphic novel about Nimona, a rebellious teen who has the power to shapeshift and seen as a monster that many of the knights of the kingdom try to kill, especially one of the focus of Ballister Blackheart. When it gets complicated after he gets accused for a crime, he will have to team up with the enemy to help him to exonerate his name. Now I have seen some complaints saying the animation looks bad but I see the vibe of a Spider-verse style mixed with a bit of Arcane and even a bit of the new Zelda game and I really like its vibe and I look forward to checking it out at the end of June.

Futurama

Our last new trailer for the week is one that I am still on the fence about being made, especially when the series ended perfectly years ago and just feels a bit of a cash grab and that is with the trailer for the newest season of Futurama. This will follow on from the previous season and will be delving into some of the payoffs for decades long mysteries such as Fry and Leela's relationship, the mysterious contents of Nibblers litter box, the secret history of Robot Santa and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy's tadpoles. While that does sound interesting it then talks on stuff that will be dated quickly as it will delve into topics of bitcoin, cancel culture, future of vaccines and streaming tv, so it does have a fair bit of concern for me as well. But as of now we only need to wait until mid July to really find out the whole situation.

Now for all the other news

Making a splash very soon
Now for those of you that had waited for the streaming release of one of the highest grossing films of the pandemic era, you will not have to wait too much longer as earlier this week, we have received confirmation that Avatar: The Way of Water will be releasing onto Dinsey+ on June 7th. Now I am not sure if the reason for the delay was formatting it for the likes of the streaming service as I did hear some complaints on the digital release of the film but I am sure they will have it all sorted out and you can watch this very Blue movie in just under a months time.

What do you think? Will you be watching this at home when it releases or what did you think of the film when you saw it back at Christmas? Let me know in the comments below and lets start a discussion on it

What does a trickster God and an adoptive daughter of a Kingpin have in common?
Now we do know that the next Marvel property coming out was going to be Secret Invasion in Late June but we did know that at least 1 more Marvel show was going to be released sometime this year and most were projecting it to be the 2nd season of Loki. Well in a surprising turn of events we have the confirmation of 2 Marvel shows later this year and releasing in 2 different forms. The first of course is Loki season 2 that will be releasing weekly starting October 6th, which is a change to the usual release schedule as normally new content is released on a Wednesday with this airing now on Fridays. The other announcement was we were getting the full season of Echo released all at once on November 29th of this year. Now an all in one release has a positive and a negative. The positive is that it will all be available to watch in your own pace and waiting for the confirmed Cameos of Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio as Daredevil and Kingpin, while a negative could be seen as it not being as good or hyped of a show and could be not well received, a sort of discussion that has been present over the last year or 2 when it came to Marvel (it also comes to affect if they will need to explain a situation with Johnathon Majors as he is facing charges currently if found guilty and may have to be recast and is a major part of Loki season 2). I am sure we will get our first proper look at the shows shortly after or near Secret Invasion has finished airing.

What do you think of this release schedule? are you excited for any of these shows or for any upcoming Marvel content over the next few years or have you stopped watching the content altogether? Let me know what you think in the comments down below

Archer at the ready

In another bit of release news, we have the confirmation that the upcoming season of Archer will be the last in the series after been airing for almost 15 years. The show has garnered over 13 seasons in its run and the 14th season of the series will start airing its final episodes from the 30th of August of this year. I for one need to get to watching the show to catch up on it before the show comes to an end or when it is all released as another option.

Are you sad to see the series come to an end or are you glad that it is ending? Tell me your thoughts below

A new film from Ildris Elba

Now for a new upcoming film that will be starring, produced and being directed by the man himself Ildris Elba. He will be making the film that is known as Infernus, which will see him take on the role of Donovan Kamara, a U.N human rights activist sent to investigate reports of refugees being illegally detained inside a U.S black site prison. This seemly simple task turns deadly when the world's most dangerous inmates break free and must work it out to safely extricate the refugees, all while going head to head with a brilliant criminal mastermind. Now that to me does sound very interesting and may check it out when it releases but what do you think of this film and what would your favourite performance of Ildris Elba be? Let me know your thoughts down below.

From Sorcerer to Symbiote

Now we have heard a little while back that there was going to be a 3rd film made based on Venom being made but since then we have heard very little about the film since then, but now we have some new casting news for the threequel. the news this week is that Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for playing Mordo in the 2 Doctor Strange films, will be joining the cast of this next film alongside Tom Hardy. Now not much right now is known of who he is playing though some rumours have stated that he could be playing the villain but we'll hopefully learn more soon of what he will be offering to the film. Who do you think he will be in this film? Let me know in the comments below.

The gang's all back together in a new universe

Now one upcoming film we know coming from the MCU is the long awaited 3rd film of Deadpool and this one has seen the biggest announcement given that Hugh Jackman is also returning in this film as Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds merc with a mouth. We knew that some from the previous 2 films including Dopinder, Colossus and Vanessa were all confirmed to be making a return (and even Peter from Deadpool 2 is back), but now we have another 2 mutants added to the cast. It was confirmed a few days ago that Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna were set to return as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio for the Threequel. Now this will see the ever-growing list of Mutants joining the MCU after Kamala Khan and Namor have already been established (and if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D becomes canon again then maybe some from there). The only other characters that have yet to be confirmed is weasel and Cable but I feel Cable may appear over Weasel but I guess we will see what happens nearer to the release.
Are you excited for Deadpool 3 and the return of Wolverine and all these other characters? Let me know, down below.

We are Taking the Hobbits to Isengard

In case you are unaware, the license of Tolkien's Middle earth and the Lord of the Rings is currently under the rights at Amazon studios where we had recently seen the release of the first season of the new show of Rings of power (one that I think has had quite the discussion online abut if it is good or not and I cannot say much as I haven't watched all of it yet). But it was not just down to shows or films as the contract also implied in Video games and this is where the announcement of a new MMO set in Middle Earth was announced just this week. there was a planned one announced back in 2019 before it was cancelled 2 years later after a deal fell through with the studio making it but now has been given a deal with a new studio that knows their way with some MMO's. Not much else is known right now but we will overtime when more details emerge of the games output.

Are you excited for a new MMO based on Lord of the Rings or are you indifferent to it? Let me know down below.

Indy brings the destiny to Cannes
So a few posts back we discussed that the world premiere of the newest and final installment in the Indiana Jones Franchise, the dial of destiny, would be taking place at the Cannes Film Festival. Well this past Thursday, some pundits and audiences got to see it in full and some have dropped their reviews already and they are as of now a bit mixed. The area of scores are around the likes of lowest being 2/5 and the highest being 4/5 amongst different critics and reviewers. Most of the praise has been aimed towards Harrison fords performance as Indy as well as Phoebe Waller Bridge as Indy's Goddaughter Helena Shaw, as well as the music performed by John Williams, while some have stated the film is a little dull and some of the de-aging is a bit unsettling (a good bit of the beginning will see Harrison Ford De-aged to how his character looked back with the original trilogy). Now this is not the full amount of reviewers as I am sure there will be more press screenings closer to the release at the end of June and I have seen from the review pages I like to read into giving it mainly decent review scores for the film, but sometimes more and more lately I have been going off my own opinion instead of just going off the critics (I would a good time go with the audience opinion but it can vary) and I will still be checking this out upon release.

Are you excited for the final Indiana Jones or has the previous film and these reviews left you divided? Let me know down in the comments below

Ohana means behind the scenes look

Our last bit of news comes to us in the form of the new Live action remake of the 2002 Disney Film Lilo and Stitch. So besides all of the mixed reactions to some casting (many calling it whitewashing in some degrees), the film seems to have started filming in Hawaii and some behind the scenes footage that was released just a few short days ago may have given our first interpretation of the beloved Alien Stitch. Courtesy of Reel News Hawaii on twitter, a small 10 second clip of some production crew getting on a jetski with a prop stand in for Stitch was spotted and while the footage is not the best, there is a effort to see that the stand in looks very close to the original design. Now we will have to wait and see a much up close version of it to properly confirm what it looks like and the fully rendered version of the character s shown to the masses.

Do you think that Stitch will keep his original design from the animated or will we have a Original sonic movie design? Let me know down below

and with that we come to the end of another episode of Weird Mind news Room and I do hope that you enjoy. For those that will want a video version of this one, I will film and edit it very quickly in the next day or 2 and have it out by mid week going over the content from last week and make it closer to the end of the week for all the other ones afterwards (in amongst other videos). If you liked what you read and know others who may enjoy then share it around and get some new viewers and even comment below and get to some discussions soon with it all . But either way I do hope you stay being wonderful people and until next time good night and good news

Signing off
Sam H
