Weird Mind News Room Episode 18: June 26th-July 2nd 2023
*if we exploring the world we need some adventure music*
Lets start with the biggest release of this week and this is the long awaited 5th and final film in the Indiana Jones Movie with the Dial of Destiny. This new film is set in 1969 and 12 years after the events of Crystal Skull with Indy about to head into retirement is soon revisited by his goddaughter, Helena Shaw who is searching for a powerful dial that could hold the answer to changing the course of history and will soon be a race against time to obtain the item before it falls into the hands of those dastardly Nazi's. Now at first the reception for this film was a little mixed when it was released in Cannes a month and a half ago but now it has seen more and more better received reviews with its release. I for one have seen it courtesy of Geek Ireland for providing me 2 tickets to the Irish Premiere for the film on Monday and I had a really great time and personally don't know what the critics who don't like it see cause I think it was great. I will go more into it in my proper review for the film shortly (but will give a score of around an 7.5 to 8, but will get a proper score when I get to it but looking around there and would recommend it) but I think it is a more better ending for the series and I think they did it well.
Now to some more movie news and on something that has also been in development for the longest time but has been very quiet over the last little while and that is the new version of the film based on the character of Spawn. Now this film had been in discussion for a good while now and the only known info was that it was being produced by the company of Blumhouse (the people that will be bringing us the FNAF movie) and that Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx is in the main role, but since then we have heard nothing until just this week when Jason Blum came out with a statement after talking all things FNAF that Spawn was in active, active development and that they are hoping to have this film made and released in 2 years time at some point in 2025. Now I feel a part of this could end up being further delayed due to the continuous Writers strike that is about to head into its 2nd month (and could also see possible actors strike happen as well) but if they have a clear idea of when they plan to have it released then hopefully all goes well in the process.
and the last story of this week is one that comes to us from Youtube and this was something that I was going to ignore but I had to bring it up cause it involves a YouTuber apologizing and now has taken the crown as the new worst one (even though the worst one is tied with one of an interpreted dance from a girl on Tiktok that had video proof of SA happening on someone that was unconscious and have went out of her way to say a video proof was actually false) and it comes from someone that has been part of the saga for the longest time and that is with Miranda Sings. Now she has been under fire for over 2 years now but only really came up more now as someone that has abused her power and also done some form of sexual exploitation with her fan (with some under age which is a big no no). Now as I said she came back with an "apology" (that in quotes cause I can't tell if it was one) that was done in the form of a song on a Ukulele that didn't even talk on the topics and make this overly long song and was just bad, like real bad. I would put some clips of it here but I have no idea if I can show it and I don't want to be slapped up the ass with some copyright claim this early in the creation field and may just put it down below as well as the link to the whole drama.
Hello again one and all to the 18th episode of Weird Mind News Room where I will take you through all of this weeks new releases, trailers and News stories that have come from the world of media entertainment (including one discussion of a certain Youtube fiasco that has mad an appearance this week). So without further ado lets get to the adventure.
Mediana Jones and the Raiders of the New Releases
Movies
Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny
Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kracken
The next film release of this week is the first of 2 new animated titles dropping and that is on the side of Dreamworks with their newest release of Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken. This new one sees the titular hero trying to fit in as an awkward teenager that soon discovers that she is actually a race of kraken and the next in line to the throne and she soon must save her home and her species from their mortal enemy of the Mermaids. Now the reception has been a little mixed but seems to be more on the positive side. Some see it as a case of being too close to the recent Pixar film of Luca, but I am sure that it is inoffensive and something I will check out in due time.
Nimona
For the last of the new films of this week we have the second animated piece of this week with the long awaited adaptation of the graphic novel of Nimona. This film follows the titular character who is a shapeshifter and ends up teaming with a knight that has been framed for a crime that he did not commit and while they may be enemies she is the only one that may help him to clear his name and to show that she may have been misunderstood more then anything. Now this films has been receiving really strong reception ever since it premiered at the Annecy Animation film festival and after it was in development with another studio, nearly cancelled due to the studio bought out by Disney, studio being closed and Disney just not caring for the films with LGBTQ themes (well Disney mainly, other studios they own would be more open to it) and then was recused by Netflix and I know I will be checking this out and reviewing this once I have seen it and you can check it out now on Netflix.
TV Shows
Witcher Season 3 Part 1
For the first of the 2 shows releasing this week, we have the first part of the 3rd season of the Witcher that will see Henry Cavill returning for the last time as Geralt of Riveria and killing monsters and going on this journey with Yennifer, Ciri and Jaskier. Now the reception from early critics seems a little mixed but from audience it is looking a little more lower then expected and it could be from the poor reception of being non faithful to the books or because Cavill is being replaced as the main lead with Liam Hemsworth, when most reception for this series has been praising his performance for all the seasons. I am sure that they may try and make it work by the end but right now many are divided and you check out the first 5 episode on Netflix now with the last 2 episodes of the season releasing in a months time on July 27th.
Secret Invasion Episode 2
Just a quick summary for the 2nd piece of this week but the 2nd episode of Secret invasion is now available to watch which will follow on from last weeks shocker ending and give us some much more secrets and mysteries to learn and find out as the series continues. Having watched this episode as well it is very interesting, it is a little slow and all but I get that with any series that it starts slow at the beginning but can pick up greatly by the finale and this series is interesting and I will continue to watch it more with interest.
Video Games
Everybody 1-2 Switch!
the last of the new releases and one that was a surprise drop release is a sequel to the Switch launch title of 1-2 Switch with Everybody 1-2 Switch which has the ability of all new party games for now up to 100 players with the use of Joy-cons or their smartphones as the controllers. Now the original is a lot of fun and really used the controllers to their advantage and I am sure this will be fun to play with friends when I have the chance.
Mediana Jones and the Trailers of Doom
Five Nights At Freddy's Movie
Are you ready..... For Freddy? We have gotten the official longer trailer for the newest Five Nights at Freddy's Movie that has has one of the quickest film, development and releases for a film in a long time (even if trying to get this film made has taken nearly a decade at this point) and sees a troubled security guard take on the role as the new Night Guard for Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. While spending the first Night on the job, he soon learns that the night shift at Freddy's may not be so easy to make it through. Now I have seen a lot of people (mainly those that have spent the better part of a decade being hyped for so much FNAF content) say this is the final trailer, but I have a hunch that this is the official one and then we'll get one final one in September or something and this one was supposedly the trailer that was leaked by a focus group tester a week or so before the short teaser one came out I believe but it does look good, the characters look really well designed and I am sure I am in for hopefully a good bit of a spooks when it releases just in time for Halloween on October 27th.
Futurama
The 2nd trailer of this week is taking up forward 1000 years into the future with the all new season and revival to Futurama that will delve into some more new topical things like Viruses and vaccines, Streaming services, Crypto and other aspects as well as old classic things like the ongoing relationship of Fry and Leela, what happened to Amy and Kiff's tadpoles and the dark history of evil robot Santa and much more. Now I was a little skeptical on this from the first teaser with the description for it but I have slowly come around to it and will check this out when it comes out later this month on July 24th.
Dune Part 2
The last of the trailer that came out this week (in a quiet week for trailers) we have the 2nd trailer for the long awaited 2nd part to the Dune movies from Denis Villeneuve which see Paul Artredis uniting with Chani and the Fremen while he seeks seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Now I remember watching the first film a good while ago and thought it looked visually stunning and I am sure I will give that a rewatch before this film drops in early November this year.Mediana Jones and the News crusade
Look up in the sky: its Superman
(meet the new Superman and Lois for the new DCU)
Now we have learned since the beginning of this year that James Gunn and Peter Safran had been working away on being the new heads of DC (similar to fellow creator of Feige with the MCU) and unveiled some of the first part of the timeline plan with the 2024 and 2025 slate of films with one being an all new Superman film slated for 2025. Now we knew the case it was not going to be Henry Cavill and instead was going to be someone younger (a statement that one social media channel has been complaining about every single DC film or film in general that is not directed by Zack Snyder and not played by Cavill and constantly calls anything run by Gunn as a mess and all fans that support him support the orange cheeto sexist racist that was president of a country for a short time and are predators due to some edgy tweets that a lot of people made back in those days) and earlier this week we have officially gotten the casting announcement for the new Superman and Lois. The man of Steel will be played by David Corenswet who has appeared in some drama roles and most recently in the acclaimed Horror thriller Pearl and Lois Lane will be played by Rachel Brosnahan who played the main lead in the Marvelous Ms Maisel. Now I and a lot of people have agreed that the casting choice for this is actually a really great decision made here and I for one think that they will do a great job with the roles and I am sure that David will get in the physique of superman before you know it.But what do you think, do you think this is a good choice for Superman and Lois or who would you have casted in the roles that haven't had the role yet. Do let me know down in the comments below.
A time Traveller will be teaming with a talking echidna
This is one that I actually missed from last week or 2 and I wanted to just quickly throw this in here but we have gotten an all new cast announcement for the new Sonic spin-off series on Knuckles the Echidna and that is with doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd. Now we have no idea of who he will be playing but in my head he will either be a voice of an ancient Echidna from his past or else he could be the performance of Eggman's father who is seen in the Sonic Adventure games. But I think that he will be a great addition to the series nonetheless.
What do you think of the casting and who do you think he is playing. Let me know in the comments below.
Spawn will rise in 2025 (hopefully)
But what do you think, do you feel that this will come out in 2025 or do you even remember that their was a spawn movie coming out at all? Let me know your thoughts down below.
The Boys are back in town (eventually)
Now from one mature superhero property to another, we are heading over to the Prime streaming service and we are talking about the popular series of The Boys. Now the production and film of the 4th season of the show has all been filmed and made and most case is now in post production but it has been hit with some news that could be detrimental for the streamer and to fans as well as the 4th season of this series has been delayed indefinitely. The reason for this ties into again the ongoing writers strike as there would be points where in post that they would add in dialogue or content in post production and since it would go against what the strike is focusing on, they have gone against doing so until the strike is over and a proper fair deal to the writers is done and personally I think these companies need to actually give these writers what they demand and soon cause it will only get worse for them if they don't. Once I get any word on this getting a release date, we will update it as soon as we can.But what do you think of this delay and are you fine or annoyed with it. Do leave your thoughts down below and lets start a discussion.
The Worst apology involves a Ukulele
and the last story of this week is one that comes to us from Youtube and this was something that I was going to ignore but I had to bring it up cause it involves a YouTuber apologizing and now has taken the crown as the new worst one (even though the worst one is tied with one of an interpreted dance from a girl on Tiktok that had video proof of SA happening on someone that was unconscious and have went out of her way to say a video proof was actually false) and it comes from someone that has been part of the saga for the longest time and that is with Miranda Sings.
Now if you have watched the video what do you think of the whole endeavour, do you think she should properly apologize or do you think there is no coming back from all of this. Do let me know in the comments below.
And with that that brings us to the end of another release week of Weird Mind news room and I hope you enjoyed the rambligs again. Do let me know your thoughts on all discussed below and until next time, I have been your lovely host, stay being wonderful people and goodnight, good news and powering down.
