Weird Mind News Room episode 19: July 3rd- 9th 2023
*Play the music of the elements*
Well Hello to you all once again to the 19th episode of the weekly news series blog from yours truly where we will once again go through all of the new releases, the trailers and the News stories from this week. So without further delay lets get right into all the media content of this week.
New releases of elemental prowess
Movies
Elemental
First up on the Film releases of this week is the all new animated movie coming to us of the popular animated studio of Pixar, with Elemental. this new film brings us to the world of element city where the citizens are made up of the 4 elements of Earth, Wind, Water and Fire and introduces us to our 2 main leads of Ember, a fiery young woman and Wade, a go-with the flow water guy. While it is a know rule in that universe that Elements don't mix, it is soon discovered that these 2 have a lot in common with each other and could end up leading to opposites reacting in a possible romance. Now the reception initially a little mixed at first from early reception but it has improved since it released in cinemas nearly a month ago in the US, and while it seems to be having a bit of a box office mixture with all of the other pieces releasing at the same time, I do know there is a lot of love from the audiences that have seen it and as someone that loves Pixar I know I will be checking this out when I can.
Insidious The Red Door
If you are looking for more of a horror fix, then you can check out the final film in the long running Insidious film series with the Red Door. This final installment see's the original film's cast return as Josh Lambert brings his son, Dalton, off to college. However that college dream will soon become a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past have come back to haunt them both. Now the reception..... hasn't been great and to me it is not much of an interest to me but if you want to have some spooks then I would say it is not a bad option to check out for yourself.
TV Shows
Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire
Now for some new released content and in the side of animated cultural aspects, we have an all new series known as Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire. This series was created across 10 different African creators that present some stories featuring new worlds that focused on new advanced technology, spiritual ancestors and much more in 10 unique stories and told in 10 different styles. This is similar to the style that was taken on in the series of Star Wars Visions where many different animators and studios created their own unique story in the mythos and galaxy of Star Wars and from what I have seen so far has been really great and I hope to see more of this from different cultures in the future and would say it is worth a check out.
Secret Invasion Episode 3
As for the last release of this week we have the 3rd episode of the Secret invasion series as we continue on the spy thriller of Nick Fury and Talos trying to stop a worldwide destruction and take over from a rebellious group of alien species of the Skrulls. Now I have yet to watch this weeks episode of of yet but so far I have been enjoying it a lot and I am sure that it will hopefully all build to an exciting end in the 2nd half of the series
Trailers that flow by greatly
Suicide Squad ISAKEI
Killers of the Flower Moon
The next trailer comes to us from the acclaimed director of Martin Scorsese and his long awaited new historical drama thriller of Killers of the Flower Moon. This new film will focus on the senseless murder of the Osage Native American Tribe when oil had been discovered on their sacred land in Osage County in the 1920s which would see the formation and investigation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the FBI. Now it does look great and the reception since its premiere at Cannes has been universal and I am sure this will be an awards contender and worth a check out when it releases on October 20th.
Bob Marley One Love
Now heading over to the side of the Biopic and with another musician following on from Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Elvis and Whitney Houston, we have the new musician to get a biopic treatment and that is with the famous Jamaican of Bob Marley about his career of becoming the most famous Reggae musician in the world and how he made it a mission to bring peace to Jamaica when it was under military unrest. Now it does look interesting and the actor for Bob is really a great choice and I am sure I will give this a checking out when it releases in early January of Next year.
The NUN II
and for the final trailer for this week is for a film that I am surprised is getting a sequel as I do not know how much else they can do with this character (then again they did make 3 movies based on the creepy doll from this franchise) but yes the demon Valek is back again for a sequel to the 2018 film The Nun. This new one takes places 4 years after the original in 1956 France where the sudden death or murder of a priest, sees the case that the evil of this creepy religious figure is spreading and soon sister Irene is called forth once again to go face to face with the demon from all those years ago. Now the first film was alright and the character is creepy and the trailer does have an interesting way of making her appear in this film but I may give it a look and it is not too long for you to confess your sins when she makes an appearance in cinemas from September 8th
News to fire up your curiosity
The Lion, The Cinematic Witch and Netflix gets more rich
But what do you think, are you excited to see these new adaptations of this classic fantasy series and hope to see all of them adapted for future watching. Do let me know your thoughts of it down below.
The Zucc has made a new app for talking
Now we have some new Tech news to share with you and this is with a new form of a social media app that has been released this week. Now if you have been following the news for the last few months you know that Tesla owner Elon Musk had bought the rights to Twitter for a hefty sum of $44 Billion and then you would also know that he has made it even more of a cess pool of Homophobia, Transphobia, and Racism, with no control of illegal streaming, pornography, graphic and gorey material, charging people around 10 euro a month just to be verified and also now being the case of seing more then a few hundred posts before you are cut off for the day and the firing of around half of the world's Twitter staff by the posting of a terrible meme (yes he fired them by a meme) as well as thinking he is a comedian with all of his posts that he say are ironic when a lot of them are very offensive and for someone who calls themselves one of the smartest men in the world, I will say that he acts like a manchild and is also a f**king idiot (pardon my language). Now to say that Facebook is any better is not saying much as they have their problems but at least they are trying some more new innovative stuff and earlier this week the Zucc himself announced and released an all new app known as Threads for Instagram. This new application is seen as a form of a discussion type piece and it does look functional, is actually taking content moneration a bit more serious and seems to have been doing well as in the first 2 or 3 days has already seen over 70 million sign ups for users. This has also caused musk to get all bitchy and try and sue them for copying Twitter when I feel Meta may have more of a better chance given they create new things where musk buys, copys and steals ideas and makes it out he made it but you get the idea. I myself want to give it a try but the product is not available right now in Europe at the moment but I will do so when it does.
But what do you think of all of this, will you try it out yourself and what is your opinions on social media apps right now in the current day and age. Let me know your thoughts down below and lets have a discussion.
This news may shock you with maximum effort
And the final news story from this week was on the same piece of media news but for a different reason and that was to be talking on the upcoming Deadpool 3. Initially it was to show off the first images of Ryan Reynolds was spotted in the full costume with and without his mask on the set for the film in the UK, but that then got sidelined by the sudden announcement that came on Friday night when we have the return of a character from a long time ago and that is right that Jennifer Garner will be returning as her portrayal of Elektra from the Ben Affleck Daredevil and Elektra film. Now this is definitely given a possible idea that this is going to really delve into a Multiverse style film as we already have Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine and also a talk of possible Owen Wilson playing his character of Mobius from the LOKI series but that could be a rumour and I am sure we will learn by the time the film continues to be worked on in the UK and released in May of next year.
Now what do you think of this casting announcement, are you surprised of this new character and what other older characters do you think will also appear (I feel if Affleck is not busy as Batman anymore then he could become the man with no fear again). But do let me know your thoughts down below.
And with that that is the end of another very quiet week for weird Mind news Room. I hope that you have enjoyed my rambling as always and I would like to hear your thoughts as always of the new releases, trailers and the news segments of all things media. I am sure some more new news will really pick up around the end of the month with comic con but when it does I will keep you updated. But for now I hope you enjoyed, you stay being wonderful people and good night, good news and powering down
Signing off
Sam H
