Weird Mind News Room episode 22: July 24th- 30th

*play that music like they used to play it*

Well hello hello hello again one and all to the newest episode of weird mind news room and to delve once again into some more new content that has released this week for the releases, trailers and the News content of the week too so lets not waste much more time and lets get to the large amount of content for this week

New releases of all various styles

Movies

Talk to me

On the first of the new releases of this week, we have a new horror film from the only studio in Hollywood that gives a damn about paying and respecting their actors and writers and that is with A24 and their new horror film of Talk to me that sees a group of teens with forms of fears and traumas of the past become much more of a serious focus from participating in a spiritual possession from the use of a strange porcelain hand. Now while I may not have provided much of an exciting plot summary, the film however has been getting some really great praise and is one of the better reviewed horror film of recent memory and on a very small but modest budget and if you want some scares you can check it out this weekend (if the case you haven't taken up the Barminheimer of last week).

Zoey 102

For the 2nd film of this week is coming to us from the streaming service of Paramount and courtesy of an all new film based on a popular series from Nickelodeon and that is with a sequel film to the show Zoey 101 with Zoey 102. This new film will see the classmates of PCA that we followed in the series as they all get together to attend the wedding of Logan and Quinn and will see pasts brought back and possible romances rekindled. Now the reception has seemed to be mixed from what I have seen but you know with some reboots of old series that go from a children's channel to a more adult form comedy can be very odd and confusing (just ask on my opinion of the Icarly reboot, which I may talk about in its own video) but I am sure that it is harmless and you can check it out now on Paramount+

TV Shows

Futurama / Hulurama

Now let us jump forward 1000 years into the future as we have returned to the services of the Planet Express crew with the all new 2nd rebooted series of Futurama that will see the characters get up to more new hijinks of the romance of Fry and Leela, the outcome of Kif and Amy's Tadpoles and even delve into present day aspects like streaming services, Crypto and the over reliance on online shopping. Now I was initially skeptical and then after the recent trailer and watching the first episode I think I judged it a little too much and enjoyed that first one. you can check out the premiere now and then see a new episode every Monday on Hulu or Disney+

Good Omens season 2

Everyone's favourite angel and demon of Michael Sheen and David Tennent are back once again with the 2nd season of the popular prime series of Good Omens, that will see Aziraphale and Crowley work together to protect the archangel Gabriel who has appeared at Aziraphale's Bookshop and must stop the forces of Heaven and Hell from creating a complete and total Armageddon on earth. Now the reception has been very positive like the original season and if you want to mischief then you can check out the full season on Prime from Friday.

The Witcher Season 3 Vol.2

As for the other side of streaming on Netflix, we have the final 2 episodes of the 3rd season of The Witcher for you to check out that will see Cavill play the role of Geralt of Riveria for the very last time before Liam Hemsworth becomes the new Geralt. Now the reception for these last 2 have been quite mixed and it may see a dip when the new season comes along with the change of the lead but we will have to wait and see how that turns out and you can check out the last performance of Cavill as Geralt now on Netflix.

Secret Invasion finale

The last of the shows of this weekis coming to us from Disney+ and with it is the release of the finale of the very divisive series of Secret invasion with this one seeing the final confrontation of Nick Fury and the rebellious Skrull leader of of Gravik. Now I have watched the series fully and I did enjoy it, sure there is some problem and I may delve into the full series in a separate review but I will see how it goes and you can check out the full series now on Disney+.

Video Games

Five Nights at Freddy's Security Breach Ruin

Now technically this is not a full game but it is part of one and that is with the DLC to the most recent of Five Nights at Freddy's Games of Security Breach with the title of Ruin. In this expansion you return to what remains of the mega Pizzaplex and this time take on the role of the character of Cassie, a friend of the original games story who enters the ginormous building and must rescue Gregory who has found himself trapped deep in the facility and must survive the remaining animatronics and some new powerful forces that have made themselves known. Now I have seen the reception has been well liked for its length, scare factor and polish and I if you own the full game you can download this expansion all for free now.

Disney's Illusion Island

The final release of this week is coming to us from the world of Disney with an all new visual platformer based on the popular mouse and his friends with Disney Illusion Island. In this game you take on the role of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy as you travel across the mysterious Islands of Monoth and recover 3 special items to save the land from total disaster. Now reception for this has been well recieved for its charm and animation and for fun factor of co-op and I am sure I will give this a play at some chance on the go on the switch. I mean the game has a feature of a hug button that gives you health I want to play this game.

Trailers of the weird and wonderful

Gen V ( The Boys Spinoff)
Staring off the trailers for this week we have the first official look at the spin off to the Prime series of the Boys with Gen V, a spin off that focuses on young adult Supes being placed in battle toyale challenges in the Vought funded Godolkin University School of Crime Fighting. Now it does have its basis of a comic line in the main Boys series and will serves as a placement for the main series until the 4th season releases and you can check out the full series when it begins streaming from September 29th

The Exorcist Believer

Following on from his revival trilogy of the Halloween franchise, Director David Gordon Green is bringing a new revival form to another classic horror film with a spiritual sequel (that most likely retcons all the other sequels that followed) of the Exorcist with the Exorcist Trilogy that will see 2 young girls become the target of a demonic possession and soon get the assistance to save them with the aid of the mother and daughter of Chris and Reagan MacNeil. Now this is the planned beginning of a new Trilogy with the sequel confirmed releasing 2 years later in 2025, but to catch this new one will not be too much longer as it releases on Friday the 13th of October and will have a clash with a film I talked about recently (that doesn't look as good)

Strange Planet
Now if you have been on social media at some point in time recently you may have at some point come across some of these images of small blue aliens doing normal human things and now it has been turned into an all new Animated series from Apple TV, The creator of the webcomics and one of those involved with the series of Rick And Morty with Strange Planet. This I am sure will be a nice wholesome watch and will be out shortly with its release on August 9th.

Only Murders in the Building season 3
Now for the last of the Tv show trailers of this week and one that is also coming out very soon, we have finally gotten the full trailer for the upcoming 3rd season of Only Murders in the Building that will see Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez return once again as their characters of Charles, Oliver and Mabel investigate the sudden death of the main lead of Oliver's New Broadway show on Opening Night. Now the reception so far from what I have seen so far has been good and I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons and I will be checking this out when the season premieres on August 8th.

Poppy's Playtime Chapter 3
And for the final trailer for this week, we are heading to the realm of the Mascot horror, as we have recieved a full all new trailer for the 3rd chapter of the "controversial" Poppy Playtime as we head deeper into the Playtime facility and seems to be going up against another strange and powerful creature that is keeping to the shadows. Not much else is known in the cryptic trailer but we will find out more when the game releases sometime in the Winter

News of the world (no phone hacking involved)

Elon murdered an animal (a digital one)

So lets start with this tech news because we are once again have to talk about Twitter and its new owner Elon Musk. Now Twitter has been seeing it get worse and worse with many of the decisions made by Musk (but he doesn't care as a lot of people will kiss his ass with all his questionable choices) but now early this week it was announce that the social media is getting a name change and it is bad and it is no longer Twitter and now just called X. Now this seems to contradict the whole fiasco of Musk suing Meta for making Threads when they are copying from Meta with a social media name change showing that Musk is lazy and just copies and steals other ideas thinking that it will make things work out (say that to paying people for being fired by you with a meme and not paying them dismissal payments or your weird monetization payment scheme needing to post a F**k ton of posts a day and month to pay big money and paying someone that has left negative opinions on being an alpha male and is currently on trail for R**e and Human Trafficking charges). To me this just sounds like less of a social media and more of a porn site and really question why he has named it like this (and why I am still calling it Twitter even if this is a dumb name change)

But what do you think of this name change and all of the sudden attempts of changes from Musk. Let me know what you think down below in the comments.

The Rock making a generous donation

This is only a brief little update on the current strike as we have entered into the 3rd week for the Actors and nearly the 3rd month for the writers strikes and it seems like no change will be happening yet. in the process some aspects have been providing positive outcomes to the strikes like some stores in the area providing free groceries to the members of both groups until the end of the strike and some places offering jobs for the time being as well. There was also a new lawsuit happening with Universal about some trees that were outside the studio lot that had suddenly been cut down and are in a lawsuit now as they were not given a warrant to trim or cut them down. But the only other news I want to give is that they have called out to some of the big named paying actors for the aid in some donation benefits for the group and one that has come along and provided a generous donation is the Rock himself, Dwayne Johnson and from his donation will help greatly in the ongoing strikes for these actors, writers and all other members in the industry to get a fair and promised deal they deserve and have these big named CEOs of these companies actually give a shit and give their huge paychecks to people that do their work while they do nothing.

What do you think of these news stories of the strikes, let me know what you think down below.

Shrek has a car and racing against Kung Fu Panda
Move over Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing and Disney Speedstorm, there is a new Kart Racer coming out this year and it is in the form of Dreamworks All Star Kart Racing. The new game will see you plays as characters from many different Dreamworks properties including Shrek, Puss in Boots, Boss Baby, Kung Fu Panda and many more and tracks based on all of the different universes too. Now it is confirmed of 20 characters for the game but I feel that they will add more in free or paid DLC (and 2 of Oogway and Wolf from the Last Wish as locked to the deluxe edition) then I am sure we will find out more when the releases either later this year or sometime next year.

What do you think of this announcement, are you excited for a new Kart Racer, let me know what you think down below

Ninja turtles new film totally tubular and has helped greenlight a sequel and show

Now for a film that will be talked about in next weeks episode but we are going to briefly talk on the upcoming release of the all new Ninja Turtles film of Mutant Mayhem. Now the reception for the film has started to drop online since Thursday evening and as of writing the reception for the film has been overwhelmingly positive based on the first 40+ reviews for the film. Now this followed from the modest reception it recieved from a near finished cut at the Annecy film festival a month ago and seems to have kept that strong reception all the way through so it looks like another animated winner on our hands. But before the reception starting dropping, it was confirmed from rumours earlier this week that their is already a planned sequel to the film in the works and that we are also getting an all new animated series based on this version of the franchise (and maybe the same style as well too) so if you are a turtles fan then you are in for a good time in the future.

What do you think of all of the new Turtles news and are you excited for Mutant Mayhem, let me know what you think down in the comments below

Slenderman has made a return

Now the likes of the Creepypasta has become a genre of online media that has seen it major popularity back when the Internet was not so wide spread and was seen as being very scary, where now it is seen as a joke, young kids think is cool and use for mods in odd games and even to the point of a few of those characters of horror becoming sex symbol of LGBTQ icons (looking at you Babadook or Jeff the Killer). However besides those 2 there is one other character that many would be more familiar with and has had an affect on the real world and that is with the Slenderman. Now the last time Slenderman was in discussion was back 5 years ago with that really terrible movie and before that was associated with an attempted murder of a young teen by 2 girls. But we are not talking on that but instead that it has been teased for the last little while and just announced this week that Slenderman is coming back in an all new Video game. This is an updated version of the Arrival game from 2013 and with it will be what is known as the lost files providing new content for the game as well too. Not much else is known of if it is a full new game or just a remake of the last full game but we will find out when the project itself releases sometime in October of this year.

Are you excited to return back to playing Slenderman again or has the concept of the character become irrelevant to you. Let me know your discussion points down below

The delays begin again

And the last story for this week was coming in as I was writing this weeks article as we return to the affects of the strikes in the world of media as it has just been announced of some big new delays from the studio of Sony with a few of there films being moved around in release dates as well as some date announcements. First off we will talk on Kraven the Hunter as this was announced to be delayed by nearly a year from its original October 6 release to August 30th 2024. Next up is Madame Web which is not getting delayed but rather moved up by 2 days of release to come out on Valentines day of 2024. Thirdly is The Ghostbusters Afterlife Sequel which was projected to release in Late December of this year and will now instead release on the Easter Weekend of March 29th and take the spot from another film (more on that in a second). As for the 2 films that were announced release dates we have the confirmation that the 4th film in the Bad Boys Franchise with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has gotten a release date of June 14th 2024 and then a month later on July 12th we are getting the 3rd film in the Venom franchise with Tom Hardy back as Eddie Brock. Now the one I skipped is the one I wanted to briefly discuss and expected to be delayed as we talked on it a few episodes ago and that was with the 3rd part of the Spider-verse films of Beyond. This release date was initially March 29th but now it has been removed from the release calendar with no new release date set in stone yet. This was discussed that the series has yet to see much development on the film besides early test content and possibly the script but for the moment I am the most fine with that delay as the first 2 were fantastic films and when it has a date that everyone can agree on it will provide even more hype then ever.

But what do you think of all of these delays from Sony and do you feel these new releases will stick or will it be a pandemic situation where it is constantly delayed and what studios will delay their films next? Let me know what you think down below

And with that that brings us to the end of another episode of weird mind news room and I hope you enjoyed the content for this week. Leave a comment below on all of the topics and discussions made today and as always stay being wonderful people, goodnight, good news and powering down.

Signing off
Sam H
