Weird Mind News Room Episode 28: 4th-10th September

*confess your sins and play the hymns*

Well hello again to you dear viewer to the newest episode of Weird Mind News Room as I bring an all new episode where I will talk on some of the new releases (a lot less then last week), some variety of trailers and a lot of news of Video game rumours so lets not waste much more of the time and lets get right to the discussion.

Give me 3 Hail New releases

Movies

The Nun II

This weeks big release in films will make you want to pray for your sins as we have the sequel to the 2018 film of The Nun and as the 9th overall entry of the Conjuring Universe. This follow up takes place a few years after the events of the original film and will see sister Irene be called back in to investigate a series of deaths happening across Europe and soon finds herself and a new noviciate named Sophie, come across the man she knows as Frenchie in a Girls boarding school that seems to be the target of the powerful demon of Valek. Now reception for the first movie was not that strongly recieved and for this one while it is also got some very mixed reception as of writing and recording, it has been seen as a slightly better film then the first movie. If you want to confess your sins and sing spooky hymns then you can check the film now in cinemas

TV Shows

I am Groot Season 2

Will keep this one brief but we have gotten the release in the shows of this week with a new 2nd season of I am Groot, which is a collection of 4 or 5 shorts that focus on Baby Groot as he gets up to some sort of mischief from caring for a small alien creature, fun on a snow day to finding coins for an intergalactic Ice Cream Truck (and even an appearance of someone that may watch but can't intervene). Now the initial set of shorts were simple and wholesome and I am sure these are just the same as well and you check out the 5 new shorts now on Disney+.

Ashoka Episode 4

Now we head to a galaxy far far away to where we are now at the mid way point of the newest Star Wars Series of Ashoka and we will see how Tano and Sabine will avoid getting found out and captured by the enemy after their ship was nearly blown to smithereens and they must follow the trail to a possible source of the sighting of Admiral Tharwn. Now I have seen the series has gone on and the reception seems to be better and better and would agree it has improved slowly but surely and if you want to continue the journey, the saga continues now on Disney+

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 6

Now for your weekly mystery fix as we head to the 6th episode of Only Murders in the Building as we head back to the scene of the crime where the leading man dropped dead and deal with how things have been changing this season from stage show drama, theatre curses, dealing with heartbreak and new flings and all to hopefully have some element of mystery to them finding out who is it responsible for the death of Ben Glenroy on Opening night?

Futurama Reboot episode 7

The last of the reminders of the week is with the newest episode of futurama which has announced it will be focused on talking about a new virus has hit New New York and of course is taking a jabbing at the recent Pandemic we had all gone through and done in their own futuristic way. Now I am not sure how many more episode of this season there will be but I will still talk more on it when more episodes are made.

Video Games

Starfield

And to end all the really big new release of the week, we are heading over to the gaming juggernaut company of Bethesda as we have blasted off with the first new IP from the company in 25 years with Starfield. The game takes places in the distant year of 2310 in a place known as the settled systems and follows your character set 20 years after the events of the game known as the Colony War between the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective and you are part of a group of space explorers that may help bring more proper peace to the galaxy. Now the reception has been very well praised for a lot of things with most divide being with its plot. Some audiences are more mixed on it (as well as a lot of Playstation Fans saying it looks bad cause the game is exclusive to Xbox and PC) but if you want to play an all new space exploration game then you can blast off to the cosmos now.

Trailers of Trouble

Godzilla Minus One

In the first of 2 trailers involving giant Kaiju creatures, we have the official trailer for the newest Toho film on the famous lizard of Godzilla with Godzilla Minus One, with this film set in a post-war Japan and see the Godzilla cause destruction on a reckless rampage and plunge the land into a negative state. Now the last Godzilla I remember from Toho was the 2016 Shin Godzilla and that one was cool (as well as being a fan of the ones from the last few years) so I will be giving this a watch when it releases on December 1st

Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget

Now for a sequel 23 years in the making as we have gotten the first official trailer for the long awaited sequel to Chicken Run with Dawn of the Nugget. This new film will follow the flock after they have escaped the Tweedy's farm and have found peace in a sancuary off the main land and with Ginger and Rocky welcoming a chick named Molly it seems like a happy ending. But when a new danger emerges from an old foe that threatens all of Chicken kind, they may have to destroy their peace and instead of them breaking out last time, they are now breaking in. Now I always have a soft spot for Aardman animation (and plan to give them their own video at sometime in the near future) and I am very excited for this film. Most concern I have and most others is the voice changes, specifically for Ginger as some shared around the re recording of Julia Sawalha and showing she still sounds a lot like the character 20 years later but apparently she is too old for the role (weird given Disney will get the voice cast back for characters decades afterwards and still sound like the character with no problem), but I am sure I will give my full opinion on it when the film releases just in time for Christmas on December 15th.

The Exorcist Believer

Now we already talked about demons already, but what the hey lets talk another as we have gotten the 2nd and most likely final trailer for the Exorcist Believer. Now this film will see the sudden disappearance and reappearance of 2 young girls who return and seem to have become possessed by demons and soon the parent of the girls go in search of someone who had similar experiences and survived and that is Chris MacNeil. Now I know this is going to be a proper rework of the series that retcons the other sequels and is a proper sequel to the original film. Hopefully this will turn out to be something scary and like its all time classic when the film release a week early on October 6th (a date push due to the film originally releasing on the same date as a film based on Taylor Swift current concert tour in the US)

Gen V: The Boys Spinoff

Now while the 4th season of the Prime series of the Boys is still a ways out, we do have some good news for you as we have a new trailer for Gen V, the spin off to the boys that will focus on young adult supes being tested in a battle royale style challenged at the Godolkin University School of crimefighting that is funded by Voight International. Now it does look really cool, the series has been popular and this is based on an arc from the comics themselves, but you will not have to wait long to enroll as school is in session from September 29th.

Castlevania Nocturne

Now for a trailer for a show I talked about in my long form video of game adaptations (which you can check out below if you want to watch again or haven't seen it yet), we have recieved an all new trailer for the upcoming series of Castlevania Nocturne. Loosely based on Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, this will see Richter Belmont and a group of supernatural individuals, joining forces to stop Dracula and his army from Vampires from causing an apocalypse during the French Revolution in 1792. Now the original Castlevania anime was so so good and this looks like it seems to be in good hands and giving its taken inspiration from the games (including the most beloved game in the series) then I am all for more Vampire hunting when this series rises from the dead from September 29th.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

Yes I did mention that their was a 2nd trailer focused on Kaiju as just on Friday, we got the official first trailer for the new Apple Tv+ series based on the ongoing Monsterverse with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Now this series will focus on the events after 2014s Godzilla and will see two siblings learning about the past of their father and leads them to a rabbit hole to the company of Monarch and the research of one Army Officer of Lee Shaw and delves over the last 50 years about the emerges of titans that are among civilization and how they may affect the future of Humanity. Now I do love this Monsterverse and seeing this being expanded to a full budget series looks cool and the titans will rise when the series premieres from November 17th.

The Bike Riders?

Now one for the blog but when was the last time we saw a film or show based on a biker gang? Well that is about to be answered as we have gotten the official trailer for the new movie of the Bikeriders. This tells a fictional story set in 1967 about the evolutionary growth of the Biker group of the Vandals with the perspective told from Kathy, the wife of reckless bikerider Benny and tells his journey as well as the gangs leader Johnny. Now it does look very cool and I have heard really good things about this film so far from the recent Telluride film festival and you can hitch a ride when the film releases on December 1st.

The Nuns of News

Return to the city of vice and soon to the wild west

So we have a lot rumours this news cycle but let us start with one that may interest a lot of you and that is coming to us from Rockstar Games and with 2 of their popular franchises. Now the company hit with a lot of complaints recently as they seem to milk the online game and release terrible or lazy ports of their most popular games but this news rumour may help lighten the hate. According to sources there is a rumbling that the official unveiling of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto Franchise of GTA6 will be announced near the end of Next month on the 24th of October. Now I have seen some articles say this is the day the game is actually releasing but I feel if a game has no marketing done for it then it would be too much of a risk (even if I heard the budget makes it the most expensive media production ever). The only time we have seen anything relating to GTA was when their was a massive data breach and someone leaked clips of work n progress of the game that we learn of a new make and female protagonist and we are returning to Vice City to some degree, so we will see how the results turn out for that.

As for the other side of things we have the wild west with the series of Red Dead. Now we recently got a port of the original game for PS4 and Switch and the Fantastic Red Dead Redemption 2 is turning 5 years old next month and has gotten no love from Rockstar when it deserves it more then GTA online at this point (yet they seem oblivious to their social media comments sections) but it seems that the series of the western genre may not be fully dead as they have mentioned earlier in the week or the end of last week that a 3rd Red Dead Redemption is a planned thing in the making according to the head of Take Two Interactive, though I will say a good while before that is released. Now the speculation that I have is will this be another prequel as 2 was a prequel to the original and have us play as a Young Dutch forming the group or will it follow other members from the gang like Sadie  or Charles as I would be all for one of those games (and also for the likes of someone's cool concept for the world map for the 3rd game as well. Now as these are both speculation, I must say to take these with a huge grain of salt as they have not been officially confirmed by Rockstar (Besides T2 on Red Dead) and we will have to see if this rumour ends up being true.

But what are your thoughts on this, do you think that GTA announcement will happen next month or is this just speculation and when do you see these 2 games releasing as I am thinking at least another year or 2 for GTA 6 and then by around 2030 for Red Dead 3. But let me know your own thought and concepts down below in the comments.

The many rumours of Nintendo involve a space bounty Hunter, A mute elfling, Fast space cars and Monke

Now from one major game studio to the next, we are heading over to the world of Nintendo for the next few stories. First we will start on the basis about the one thing that happens at least every 3 months and that is with a Nintendo Direct. Now we do not know when to expect it but some are pointing to one near the end of this month or by the end of October as the last direct of the year as expected. But we have been getting some rumours of some of the games being unveiled. According to the Twitter user of Pyoro, who is quite reliable to insiders on Directs, he has made mention that we will be seeing a return to the long dormant F-zero series with an all new game, whether its own standalone title or similar to Tetris 99 and Pac Man 99, a 99-100 player F-zero battle game (could be wrong but we will start with that). Now another one that was rumoured was we are getting a new game starring Donkey Kong that initially all we had but then it has come out that their is more to it and will supposedly be a new entry in the Mario vs Donkey Kong game and see the return of the Mini's but it could also be a new Country game or a proper open world DK game as well. They have also got word that Pac Man 99 may become obsolete in the next month and that a DS game and Wii game are being remastered for the console but doesn't specify what. One other thing that he does mention is that we will get more info about the Princess Peach game that was teased in the last direct as well so we will have to see when we do. One that always gets talked about is if we will see a port of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess to the Switch or more info on the release of Luigi's Mansion 2 but nothing has been said on them yet or at all (as of this writing)

Now my own speculation is focused with one other game that we know is still coming out. This is talking on Metroid Prime 4 as we have not heard much about the game since it was announced it was starting development over back in 2019. Now some news that has come up and feel may be unveiled in the next direct is that the game is projected for release just before the Switch successor in the summer of Next year and they are in a near complete form of the game and ready to unveil and give people their proper first look. Now why I bring it up is that Nintendo needs a big game to close out their directs and they always do that in some way from the last one being Mario Wonder and a few before hand being Zelda Tears of the Kingdom so it is my own opinion (take all with grain of salt) that they may show it off at the end of the next one.

But what are your thoughts of these direct rumours and are you excited for them and when do you see the next direct happening and what do you hope is announced. Let me know down in the comments section below.

The Legend of Zelda: The Mysteries beyond the Horizon?

Now this is just a small point that I want to talk about the Legend of Zelda series as we did just get what may be the game of the year this year with Tears of the Kingdom (depends if Baldurs gate 3 is not the winner and Spider-man 2 is not excellent) and they confirmed that there is no plans of DLC for that game as they have already started plans and work on the next game in the series. Now it is unknown at this time if this is going to be a follow up in the story to TOTK or if it will be an all new separate story set in Hyrule that will have Link and Zelda and all new characters in some capacity show up as they have kept it very vague, bit whatever it is I am very excited and I am still so immersed in finding everything and finishing everything in that game so I can wait.

What are your opinions on this, is it a follow up to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom or a new storyline with the mute hero of Hyrule? Tell me your thought on it down below.

A successful successors specs to speculate

Now the 3rd story of the Nintendo rumours and news comes to us about the successor of the Switch itself. Now according to rumours coming out of Gamescon and from some studios with the development kits, they were shown some of the development and power of the new Nintendo console behind close doors and shown that their is some power behind the console with some saying it may be as powerful as a PS4 and some even saying the PS5 but this is of course some rumours going about from the developers. There is also a projected price point of around 400 euros which I can see a bit but I feel it may be more slightly cheaper and go for the 320 or 350 mark similar to the price of the last console, but until we get some proper details from Nintendo all we can do right now is speculate.

But what do you think of this rumours, do you feel it will be this level of power or do you think it will be innovative, affordable and focus more on entertainment then power? Let me know what you think of it down below

Thank you Mario and his "Papa"

Now this will be brief and a callback to a previous weeks news story but we learned about 2 weeks ago that Charles Martinet would be stepping down as the voice of the Mario and Wario Bros and we would get a special video of him becoming a Mario Ambassador. Well earlier this week we got just that video with Charles and Miamoto thanking the fans and everyone for being a part of the journey and Miamoto thanking Charles for all of the memories voicing the popular plumbler. The video itself may not be overly long but I did feel very emotional watching this and he truly left a lasting legacy to gamers and what I have heard of the new voice for the Bros is pretty great, I will always remember Martinet's iconic voice as the famous Plumber.

But what are your thoughts on this and what has been your favourite Mario game with his voice? Let me know your opinions in the comments down below and let-sa go.

David Zaslav sees the word underused as "having overused this yet"

So to end this news section we are talking some movies and in particular we are talking about Warner Bros IP's. Now as we know there is still an ongoing strike right now in Hollywood and all this uncertainty but thats besides the point on this article as we are talking about the comments of the head of the company of David Zaslav and how he specifies that some ips like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and the DC universe have gone underused and I think that statement is Bullshit, it is not overused but more used to death and should've been left as it is and I'll explain why for each.

Starting with LOTR, it all happened when they decided to stretch the Hobbit to 3 films when it could've been done in 1 or 2 films at best. they seem to be constantly making more films and content based on Middle earth but it has been more divided as of late with the heavily debated rings of power and labelled worst game of 2023 with LOTR Gollum. Most case they want all that money and award recognition that the classic trilogy got but I doubt it will ever happen.

Now Harry Potter, a series mired right now in controversy due to the transphobic comments of the author. Now this is something that you cannot go into some shops without seeing something with the wizarding world in them as it is everywhere and now they are deciding that we will milk this series for more money by remaking the books into a tv series when the films were perfectly fine enough as they were. I know they see it as a possibility of success due to the recent Hogwarts Legacy game that came out this year, but they need to see that most see it as a cash grab and that they seem to not learn from the problems the Fantastic Beast films had where it was extended upon when it was only one book of it and most probably don't want to give the author more money because of her hurtful views

And lastly with DC, this is really their own fault for it as they were the ones that didn't have faith in it cause they got concerned from poor reception that started with Batman Vs Superman Dawn of Justice. This was with the studio Meddling that they said things like cutting out important scenes from BVS to reduce it by 30 mins, the whole mess of 2016s Suicide Squad (something I will talk on in my rewatch of the DCEU or focus on just this film), the criticized 3rd act of Wonder Woman was their decision, the inconsistency of 2017s Josstice League, their meddling with Birds of Prey and then their whole cancelling of Batgirl, Aquaman 2 reshoots and not giving Snyder's Justice League a chance that it really seems more then underused the DCEU and more of messed it up

I think Zaslav needs to better mince his words cause it seems to think use IPS that will see more success when it could be a major failure, but what are your thoughts on all of this discussion by Zaslav and does his words seem right at all. Let me know what you think if you can down below or else I may be just rambling.

Oh Bother

And for the final news for this week is talking about bears, in particular bears that kill children. We have 2 quick announcements relating to 2 films involving some sort of Bears and we will start With Five Nights at Freddy's. Now we have been speculating on how long the film will be in particular as the running rumour for the last while that it was coming in at 3 hours. Now just this week we have officially gotten a runtime confirmation that it will be 1 hour and 50-55 minutes, which is around the average length for most horror films (and is the same length as the new Exorcist film) so our trip to Freddy's may be quite the packed 2 hours

and for the 2nd film discussion, you may remember somepoint last year of images that circulated around of a Winnie the Pooh slasher film was coming out. Well apparently that film did come out this year even though I didn't see any cinemas here showing it but I also heard it was really bad. Well it has been confirmed from images that we are getting a sequel to this film and may be coming out to us next year from the looks of things. The process seems to be going for a much bigger budget this time around and will be more bloodier and gruesome then the first film was (and I heard that was quite the attempt at a slasher fest). There is no release date yet but hopefully they actually release it here this time  and at a wide release as well (cause this man is also making F**ked up version of Bambi and Peter Pan from what I heard)

But what do you think of these announcements, does it seem like a solid film length and would you watch a Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey Sequel and to to some that have seen the first movie, is it worth a watch to see how bad it is? Let me know down below in the comments

And with that, this brings us to the end of another lengthy episode of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you enjoy and Let me know your thoughts and opinions on all that is discussed and I would love to start a discussion on all there is to talk on. As always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and I wish you's all a really great day :)

Signing off
Sam H
