Weird Mind News Room Episode 29: 11-17th September

* someone has been murdered to get this music*

Well hello again to you one and all with some mystery-fied new episode of Weird Mind News Room where we will be delving into a lot more of all of the new content that has released over the week from the Suspects of New Releases, the Clues of the Trailers and the mystery of the news, so lets not waste time for death and lets get to the Content of the week past

Our usual suspects of New Releases (Murder on the New Release express)

Movies
A Haunting in Venice

To start off this week with the releases is the all new film from Kenneth Branagh who is back again with the really thick stylish moustache of Herecule Poirot with A haunting in Venice, which is based on the Agatha Christie Novel of Hallowe'en Party this time revolves around him trying to solve a series of murders while attending a séance in central Venice an find out if one of the attendee is the murderer or if there is some supernatural elements at play. Now this one has gotten a lot more stronger reception compared to the previous 2 films and is the best reviewed one as it seems to be more of a horror thriller then solely focusing on a murder mystery, so if you want to solve a case and see some spooky face then I am sure you can check this one out in cinemas (which I know I will be doing so)

TV Shows
Welcome To Wrexham Season 2

Now on the new shows release and one that you would not expect me to place here but we have the 2nd season to Welcome to Wrexham, which if you are unaware, is a documentary series about the story of how Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought a football team and stadium in England and will help it to become one of the biggest success stories in sporting history. Now the reception has been well recieved and while I may not give too much of an interest in Football, I may give this a watch (same thing with Ted Lasso cause I heard it is really good) and you can catch the 2 full season right now on Disney+.

Ashoka Episode 5

Now for the weekly reminder to head to a galaxy far far away for the 5th episode of Star Wars Ashoka that will see Tano go on a journey of discovery with some assistance of an old acquaintance and Hera Syndulla is off on a rescue mission to save Sabine. Now I have heard so many say this is the best episode of the series and the best bit of Star Wars in a long while and I will agree it is amazing and you can check it out now for yourself on Disney+

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 episode 7

Speaking of Murder, we have the next episode of Only murders in the Building that sees the aftermath of the previous episode that has the trio fall estranged as the mystery has taken a bit of a backseat this season in more focus of Oliver's play, Charles dilemma with his relationship and Mabel's search for answers while dealing with moving from the Arconia. While it may be taking a back seat I have still been enjoying the season so far and as we head into the final few episodes of the season, hopefully it starts to get a focus (which the ending of this ones seems to be doing) and we will hopefully find out who really killed Ben Glenroy?

Futurama Reboot episode 8

And the last of the new episode reminders, we have the next episode of the Futurama reboot for you to check out which will see this week tackle the concept of Cancel culture when Zapp Brannigan is cancelled for crude behavior and the Nimbus is given control to Leela. Now I need to do a little catch up on this series but I am sure that I will get to them but the series has been good from what I watched so far and you can check it out yourself now too.

Video Games
Super Bomberman R2

This one will be very brief but we have a sequel to one of the original Switch Launch titles with the classic character of Bomberman with a new party game of bombing bombardment multiplayer fun. Now the reception has been modest at best and seems to be perfectly fine for a simple party game but if you are in the mood for explosive fun then you can play it on all consoles and PC now (I believe)

Crew Motorfest

And to round out the new releases of the week we have an all new game based in the Crew series from Ubisoft, with The Crew: Motorfest that will see you and friend locally and online race across a scaled version of the Hawaiian city of O'ahu. Now the reception on this game has also been modestly recieved for control and visuals but their is probably some problems and issues with it but I am sure it can be a fun time to race across the vast landscape with friends and you can play it yourself on all next gen consoles and PC now.

The Trailers are the clues (Death on the Trailer Nile)

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

To start this week off with the trailers is with the one we learned we were getting this week and that we have finally recieved the trailer for the 2nd film in the Aquaman series with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Now the plot for this one takes place a few years after the events of the original that sees Arthur take responsibilities as a father and the king of Atlantis and so he must use his status and power to save the kingdom from Black Mantra who is out for revenge against Arthur for the death of his father with the aid of the Dark Trident in his possession and soon he will get the assistance from his brother and unite the 7 seas against a common enemy. Now this film has been mired in uncertainty from its poor test screenings a few months back before another wave of reshoots to the concern that a certain actress was still in this film (as over 4 million people signed a petition for her removal yet she is still in this film and in a very quick second of it) but I think the trailer looks good and cool, It may be affected by it not being as much excited for given the change in the DCU continuity but I am sure I will check this out when it releases on December 20th.

Killers of the Flower Moon
Now for what I would say is the final look at the next big historical drama film from director Martin Scorsese with Killers of the Flower Moon. Now this film is based on the true story of the murder of the Osage county Indigenous people back in the 1920s after it was discovered that their was oil on their sacred land and this would also lead to the formation of the FBI. Now I always think that Martin Scorsese makes some really cool and stylized trailers and films and from the early reception of the film this looks great and you can check this one out yourself when it releases in cinemas on October 20th.

Pet Sementary: Bloodlines
Now sometimes the moral of something is that sometimes dead is better and that is what is brought to the forefront in this new trailer for the upcoming prequel to Stephen King's Pet Semetery with Pet Semetery: Bloodlines. This new film will be set in 1969, 50 years before the recent adaptation and follows a young Jud Crandall as he discover the local cemetery where the dead can live again and discovering the horrors that can affect their lives. Now I may not have seen all of the recent new film but I have heard a few say that the film is decent at best but I am sure this one will not be too bad and you can see this rise from the dead when it releases on Paramount+ on October 6th.

The Creator

Now for what I would see as the big movie of this month is with the newest sci-fi epic from Director Gareth Edwards with The Creator. This new film is set in a future impacted by a war between humans and AI (or the present day with Hollywood film) and will see a ex-special forces operative hunt down and kill "The Creator" who has created a weapon that has the power to wipe out humanity. Now its not the most original of plots but the concept does look cool and stylized and I am sure it will be something to check out when the film releases on September 29th

Paper Mario 1000 year Door remake? (may keep to news)

Now these I will talk on more in the news section but the last big announcement from this weeks Direct was that we are getting a remake of the popular Paper Mario game of the Thousand Year Door which sees Mario travelling to Rogue Port after being invited by Princess and soon realize that something may not be right here after all. Now I played the original and loved it (and you try and buy a copy of this cause it is mad expensive online or in 2nd hand) so you can soon play this on the go when this releases sometime in 2024.

Princess Peach: Showtime (May also keep for News)
Now in the last direct, we got the confirmation that we were getting an all new game focusing on the royalty of the Mushroom Kingdom of Princess Peach. Well now we got the confirmation and better explanation of what this new game is about with Princess Peach Showtime, where she will save the Showtime theatre and all of the stage plays from the evil Queen Grape with the help of her companion Stella and through the use of transformations for each different stage play. Now I do like this new concept and I like a callback to the original 3rd Mario Bros game and it will soon be curtains up when the game releases on March 22nd next year.

Trolls Band Together
Now for some animation trailer and it is coming to us from Dreamworks as we have recieved the 2nd trailer for the newest entry in the Troll franchise with Trolls Band Together. This sees the couple of Poppy and Branch team up with Branch's long lost brother to go and rescue his family from 2 nefarious enemies and use the perfect family harmony to save the day and avoid them from falling into pop culture obscurity. Now these films are quite hit or miss so to say where the first one was decent, 2nd one was a bit overly weird and this one looks ok and seems to be blending a lot of animations in this (and as well this is a whole ruse for N-sync to reunite for a new song) but I am sure they'll get the band back together when the film releases on October 20th.

Totally Killer?
And to wrap up the trailers for this week, we have an all new slasher horror film from Blumhouse that's a blast from the past with Totally Killer. This films will see a killer return after 35 years after they murdered 3 teens and comes after our main protagonist of 17 year old Jamie. However she suddenly is teleported back to 1987 just before the masked maniac first drew blood and she must team up with her teenaged mom to stop the killer and change the future. Now I like this concept and seems like a cool thing to do for a slasher film with a bit of a time travel twist and you can check it out yourself when this new film releases on Amazon Prime on September 28th.

The Mystery of the News Stories

Captain America has found Mrs America
Now we'll start with some surprise but positive news as it was announced that Captain America himself of Chris Evans has gotten himself Married last Saturday to his partner of Alba Baptista. Now the 2 of them have been together for just about 2 years when they have secretly started dating in late 2021, they were public in November 2022 and had gotten married in a private at home ceremony last weekend. Now it is nice to see such a happy couple and I wish them all the best in a long and happy relationship.

I would like to know what are your thoughts on them getting married and are you happy for them? Let me know what you think of it in the comments down below.

The wonderful thing about Tigger's is that Tigger's are murderous things

Now to talk on something that was mentioned briefly at the end of last weeks video as it was announced that we were getting an all new sequel to this years Winnie The Pooh Blood and Honey that is going bigger in budget and graphic material. Well now we know that the creatures of the 100 Acre Wood are about to get a little bit bigger as another iconic character from the series is making their debut as they enter public domain in the new year. It was announced that the bouncing Tiger of Tigger will be becoming part of the hunt as it was unveiled earlier this week of what the character looks like and I will say I will give it one thing, I do like the concept of these characters by design and Tigger does look really menacing and someone that will murder you without remorse. I do wonder if we will see a lot of the other characters will show up in this as well like Rabbit, Kanga Roo and even the Heffalump but I guess we will have to see how it turns out.

But what are your thoughts on this version of Tigger and do you see other characters from that universe make an appearance? Let me know what you think down below and let me know.

What are you doing in my Crocs
Now for the first in the rare merch clothing news that also came from the end of last week (A few had to be delayed as the news and everything was getting a little overlong last week) but we are talking about Crocs, specifically the wearable kind, not the ones you find in the Bayous. Now they are the simple house shoes or summer sandal's type shoe and some of the most famous pair was with the Lightning McQueen pair (so much so some petitions were made to have them in adult sizes too), well know we have an all new pair to enter the competition and that is with everyone's favourite Ogre of Shrek as it was announced that the Ogre is getting his own form of Crocs that will come with his signature ears, a large nose and with a brown furry back strap and all in the signature light lime green like colour. now they do look like some really weird looking form of croc but I have seen weirder looking shoes and I am sure they will sell and then their will be a demand for them in a short while afterwards and high prices on eBay soon after.

But what do you think of these crocs in particular and if given the chance, would you buy a pair of these yourself? Let me know if you would or not down below in the comments.

Apple announces the same thing again for another year

Now for some tech news that I feel I will get some backlash on and that is with a new announcement that with every September Apple comes along and announces an all new range of their products and I do question why when there is very little change across the last few versions besides maybe the colour. Most new features I have seen is some new updates to the camera, it is slightly lighter by 1 ounce and now the new iPhone will work with USB-C cables only (I think). My only reason I bring it up is that they look the exact same every year, there is always a complaint with the device when something is changed or removed or added that was already on other phone brands a few years later. Now I am not saying that Android is better or other phone brands are but I just prefer them because they try with new designs and more noticeable design changes and concepts with each new version (one known being the Samsung Flip or Fold which is one I do want to get). Either way I know many will get one when the phones start releasing from Next Friday and it will be the same concept again next year.

But what are your thoughts on this and explain to me in depth if anyone of what really is different with these phones every year? do let me know what they are down in the comments.

Direct Plays and all the thangs
So lets talk some gaming, in particular from both Nintendo and Sony as it was suddenly announced this week that both of them were having the release of a new Nintendo Direct and a Playstation State of Play on Thursday and each provided updates for some games and announcements for others which I will one down some of them for both presentations here:

Starting with Nintendo, they provided some variety with a new look at the 2nd piece of DLC for Splatoon 3, a new Mario Vs Donkey Kong game coming out in February (which I think is a remake of the original from what I am hearing online), a new racing game, a lot of different styles of RPG's from pixelated to the fantasy settings, some new look at the Mario RPG remake, Prince of Persia 2.5D gameplay footage, the unveiling of the title and footage of the new Princess Peach game, the original Trilogy of Tomb Raider releasing on Valentines day next year, Mario Kart 8s Booster Course final wave uveiled one of the tracks and showed that Diddy Kong, Pauline, Peachette and Funky Kong are characters added to the next wave (and a physical version coming out in early October), Trombone Champ is getting a switch release, Among Us gets a new map, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD getting a summer release, F-Zero is coming back as a 99 player Battle Royale and then the direct ended with a reveal of a remake of Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door coming out next year. Now it is quite a mixed bag of options with a lot of RPG's coming out but for some of the other announcements I think they were some good ones and I am looking forward to them (of course some of my predictions like Metroid Prime 4 reveal or the Zelda HD ports didn't happen but I will take what I can get with the announcements).

And on Sony's side of thing we got the release date for the next part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake coming out on Feb 29th next year, they give a look at the power of the PS5 with a new look at the open world of Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4 remake is getting a VR port in the winter and its DLC starring Ava Wong coming out next week, the recent Tales of Arise is getting DLC expansion in November, Helldivers 2 got some boss battle gameplay, Avatar Frontier of Pandora recieved a new story and gameplay trailer, Foamstars announced a Beta coming early next month, a game from the QWOP developers know as Baby steps recieved gameplay footage, Honkai Star Rail RPG will be releasing on Oct 11th and they announced 3 new colour shells and dualsenses for the PS5 with Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue and Sterling Silver. So while it showed off some more big company titles, it is all stuff that we have seen already before

Now both had their issues but I want to know your opinions on both of these directs and which announcements were you the most excited about the most in general. Let me know what you think of it all down in the comments below and lets have a discussion about them.

The One Piece is real 2
This one is going to be a short one but we all know that a little over 2 weeks ago, we recieved the newest Netflix Anime adaptation with One Piece. Now the reception for this one was well recieved by both critics and audiences and it was just announced earlier this week that this adventure is about to continue as we have a 2nd season confirmed for the show coming out soon. Most case we have no idea when this will come out but will be a bit of time given the continued strikes but once I learn the date I will let you know in a future video.

But what are your thoughts with this, are you excited for a 2nd season of One Piece and just ask as well if someone hasn't gotten into the original series does the first season help those understand the series as a starting point. Let me know what you think it all down below.

2 Different names for a journey in the apocalypse

And for the final story for this week is a bit of a news discussion from a story I talked about a little while ago and it relates to the Last of Us Tv series. Now I mentioned back in that post that one of the frontrunners for the role of Abby in the 2nd season was with Australian Actress of Shannon Woodley and some went with it but now there was news there is another well known name that was also approached about the role for the character and that was with the actress of Florence Pugh who you may know as Yelena in Black Widow, Paige from Fighting with my Family and most recently as Jean Tatlock in Oppenheimer. Now this was all news before the strikes happened so unless one of them was casted in the role before it happened is anyones guess (unless it is a case of they are both playing the role with Shannon as the Body actor and Pugh as the face and voice role similar to the game where Laura Bailey voiced and mocapped her character and the athlete of Colleen Fotsch was the body model for the game) so we will have to see when the strikes end (writer, actors, VFX and every other part of the studios actually get a fair and decent wage) and we learn of the casting for the next season soon.

But what doe you think of these castings and can you see either of them taking on the role of Abby? Let me know your thoughts on these rumoured castings down below in the comments

And with this all that brings it to the end of another episode of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you have enjoyed hearing about all of the new things from this week and I would love to hear your thoughts on all discussed and what are you checking out from this news as well too. But as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and I hope everyone has a really great day everyday:)

Signing off
Sam H
