Weird Mind News Room episode 32: October 2nd-8th
*This song creates a nexus event*
Hello again to you all once again to the 32nd episode of Weird Mind News room where I will be delving into all of the new content that have come out from this weeks New releases, Trailers and the news from the week, so lets not waste all the time and we can get right into the new content released from the week.
The New Release Sacred Timeline
Movies
The exorcist Believer
So we start off this week with the biggest film release of this week and that is with the all new spiritual sequel to one of the most famous horror films of all time and we have another possession on our hands as we have The Exorcist Believer. This new film follows widowed father of Victor Fielding who must deal with some serious supernatural affects when his daughter Angela and her best friend Katherine go missing in a woods for 3 days and come back and things seem to have turned sinister and soon he must seek out the one person who has witnessed something like this and survived and that is with Chris Macneil. Now this film was very much anticipated since they released the trailers and some had faith but unfortunately the critics seem to think otherwise and the reviews for this have not been kind that while they praise a sense of emotional heart to the film and having some connections to the original, the likes of the Horror and exorcism aspect seemed to be a little all over the place (then again this is the same guy who had made the recent trilogy of Halloween films that started strong and then the last 2 were not that much liked) and it will be seen if audiences agree or not as time goes on and if the planned trilogy will save it from complete disaster but I guess you can say your prayer and see this for yourself in cinemas now.
Totally Killer
But if an exorcism is not your thing and you prefer a slasher with a sci-fi twist then I would suggest the newest offering from Amazon Prime of Totally Killer. This new film will tell of a legend of a serial killer that first murdered 3 teenagers around 35 years before the events of this film take place and will soon see 17 year old Jamie become the next target but she is suddenly transported back to 1987 just before the killer first drew blood and must team up with her teenaged mother to stop the masked killer once and for all. Now the reception on this one has been much better recieved for its unique new spin on a slasher and for not going to easy and being much more graphic and if you want a horror that provides a blast to the past, then I don't see this as being a bad option to check out yourself on Amazon Prime.
Pet Semetary Bloodlines
But if want something more of creepy goings on in a small town with some ties to a classic horror story then I would suggest the last new film of this week with a prequel film of a Stephen King novel with Pet Semetary: Bloodlines. Now this film is set 50 years before the events of the 2019 film and follow a younger version of Jud Crandall would want to leave his hoe behind but soon discovers dark secrets buried within and must confront a dark family that will forever keep him connected to this small town. Now similar to the Exorcist this film has also been panned by critics who have criticized the half assed attempts at expanding the world of the original story and just it is not scary and replaced with too much graphic material. But if you have the sense of wondering why dead is better then I would suggest you can check this out on Paramount+
TV Shows
LOKI Season 2 premiere
Now for what I feel is the 2nd big thing released this week is the return of everyone's favourite god of mischief as we have finally gotten the release of season 2 of LOKI. Now this will follow on from the events of the finale of the first season and see Loki teaming up with Mobius to discover that everything is not what it seems in the TVA and must stop the Sacred Timeline from falling to pieces while also dealing with the trickster god being pulled through time at random points out of nowhere as well as dealing with the whole issue of variants (like don't we all have that issue). Now reception so far on the series first 4 episodes seem to be very well recieved from most outlets that still feel this is the best show to come out of the MCU and up there with the first season and I for one am excited for this and as similar to Ashoka, this series has also been getting a slightly earlier releases and will be available from every Friday Morning from 2am on Disney+
Ashoka Finale
speaking of the Jedi warrior, this is just a reminder that the finale to the season has released this week and it seem from what I have heard has a very positive finale for the most part and seems to be the outcome of Tano and Sabine reuniting with Ezra and I guess they are going to go stop Admiral Thrawn I think, I need to give a catch up on this myself for the last episode and will say that I think this is the better Star Wars show then Mando (even if I still very much enjoyed that new season).
Continental Finale
But if it is action that you are after I will also remind that the last part of the 3 part series on the John Wick Spin off of The Continental has also been released this week and what I heard it is just an all out gang war in this episode from what I have heard which does sound very enticing and you can wrap up this mini series now on Amazon Prime.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 finale
But if it more of a mystery with a touch of pazas then look no further then with the Finale to Only Murders in the Building Season 3 that will see Oliver put on his Murder mystery turned musical on stage for opening night and the trio will finally solve the case of who was the one responsible for the death of Ben Glenroy. Now I have seen it, enjoyed it very much (been listening to the songs on loop as much as I can) and am excited to see how they will lead into a mystery with an eventual 4th season (more on that later).
Gen V Episode 4
But its not the only superhero based show out at this time as we also have the newest episode of Gen V for you to check out that will continue the story of the cast of upcoming supes and the mysterious goings on at the Goldolkin School for young adult Supes. Now it seems the episodes have been well praised and I am sure this one will continue that winning streak.
Video Games:
Assassins Creed Mirage
And for the first of the 2 big game releases of the week, we have returned to the long running series of becoming one with the Creed of the Brotherhood as yes the series is back with Assassins Creed Mirage. Now this game is set in the 9th Century in Baghdad (I believe this puts it before the original and Valhalla on the timeline) during the anarchy of Samarra and you take on the new assassin of Basim who goes from street thief to an Assassins for the Brotherhood and must fight for peace and liberty from the Templar Order. Now reception for this one has been well recieved and a good bit of hype is that it is going back to the roots of the series with the classic parkour form and less in the devisive RPG form elements the last 3 games had been a complaint by many, but if you are looking to return to the world of the Assassins then you can do son now on PS4/5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (and soon apparently on IOS).
Detective Pikachu Returns
and for the last of the new releases, we are returning in some form to the wonderful world of Pokémon as we are back with everyone's favourite wise cracking, caffeine loving Pokémon with Detective Pikachu Returns. This new game will follow on from the original 3ds game and see Tim Goodman teaming up with Pikachu in solving the case of what happened to Pikachu's partner and your father Harry as well as the suspicious goings on in Ryme city with the aid of some of the other Pokémon to solve the case. Now the reception I have seen is a little mix with some praising the writing and bits of the story but some critiquing the visuals looking too outdated as most of the other games for the last decade and possibly a difficulty factor but I am sure this is a fun little mystery to delve into and you can check it out yourself now on Nintendo Switch.
trailers for a greater Purpose
Silent Night
So we start a week of very mixed option of trailers with an all new addition to a more action oriented or violent film based around the period of Christmas and this is from legendary Action Director John Woo and from the producer of John Wick we have the all new film of Silent Night. Now this film will see Joel Kinnamon's character deal with the death of his son and presumably the loss of his voice by the hands of some local gang warfare and will go on a killing spree to get his revenge as tis the season to be bloody. Now I have got an interest in some of these recent Christmas based action films and this one does look cool (some CG from the trailer looks janky but I guess that is not the main focus for this at all) but this is something I may check out nearer to Christmas when this releases on December 1st.Priscilla
Now if you remember last year we recieved the acclaimed and award winning biopic on the King of Rock'n'Roll which was of course Elvis Presley, well we are going to be seeing a slightly different perspective on him in this next movie as instead of focusing more on his career and music side, we are seeing it through the eyes of his very young wife in the new film of Priscilla. Now this will focus on the couples relationship, her thoughts on the life of the musician and how it was not always a glitz and glamorous life. Now this does look very stylized (as you would expect from an A24 film) and the reception for this movie from some of the recent film festivals has been very strong and I am sure you can learn about the life of Priscilla Presley when this film hits cinemas on November 3rd.
Leave the World Behind
Now onto a film from Netflix that to me feel somewhat familiar to another film that released this year and this is with the upcoming film of Leave the World Behind. This new film will see a family's vacation be interrupted by two strangers that appear at their door with warnings of an imminent mysterious Blackout and as the threat grows larger, both of these families must decide with how to survive this crisis as well as grappling with their own place in the collapsing world. Now to me it does sound a little similar to the M.Night Shyamalan film of Knock at the Cabin as both involve a holiday home, some strangers arriving and something similar to an apocalypse happening, but I feel their is more to this one and given this is being directed by the creator of Mr Robot of Sam Esmail. this could be something that turns out great and you can check this out when the film drops supposedly in cinemas in late november before hitting Netflix on December 8th.
Lego Jurassic Park Retold
Now for a story that was built up for 65 million years in the making and a new way of talking on a cinematic classic but we have a trailer for a retelling of the 1993 classic of Jurassic Park.... but done in Lego. Now this is not to the visual level of the films released by Warner from over the last decade and will see some of the cast (in particular Jeff Goldblum's Dr Ian Malcolm) essentially retell the story of Jurassic Park all in the form of Lego. Now I see this as being a harmless and nice anniversary piece given the film is celebrating its 30th anniversary and you can enter the park very soon as this special is dropping supposedly next week on October 10th.
The Beekeeper
and now we have an all new action film from the man who gave the excellent movie of Fury and the one who's original vision was f**ked over by the studio that released it with 2016 Suicide Squad of David Ayer who is about to bring us his new action film of The Beekeeper. This new film will see Jason Statham play Mr Clay, a former operative of a clandestine group known as the Beekeeper's who goes on the hunt to take down a corrupt and messy system when his neighbour dies by suicide after she scammed of everything that she owns (which side note here I want to say fuck those call center places who do that to vulnerable people). Now its a common thing for Statham to do a lot of these action films but this one does not look too bad and I feel Ayer may be able to pull it off and you can check this film out yourself when this releases early next year on January 12th.
Hauntingly good news
Netflix to raise prices to stiff the actors again (seems to have learned nothing)
so we start the news with some annoying prospects. Now as you know we are in quite the rough times with the economy and it is not helping the case when a lot of the entertainment industry of the streaming services keep announcing a price increase within a few short months after the last one when people question why depending on the quality of content released from the streamers, and this is no exception to the likes of this stories focus which is with Netflix. So we know that their is still a strike continuing with the actors currently and apparently they have it planned that they are going to increase the prices of their services once again once the actors strike has ended and they return to working. Now I see this as a very insulting thing to do as these actors and for the last 5 months of the writers have been striking for the sole reason of them going against the ordeal that they have been underpaid and have the fear of being replaced by AI and other concerns and them to just think that if we give them both better deals (which they deserve to have of course) that we should raise the prices for the common people which makes no sense. I would be a case of a little more understanding if they released some decent content but personally Netflix will release something good once every couple of months and then will just push the generic teen rom com series or movie (with some exceptions) and then cancel the good stuff in favour for a 3rd Tall Girl film or the never ending series of Big mouth. But this is the common logic that they say they never cancel anything that is popular, which is a lie cause their is one that they did that was popular and it was called Inside Job and many other like it, but we'll have to see how that turns out when it does come to it
But what are your thoughts on this and do you think Netflix is in the right mind to do this once these actors get a proper good deal? Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments.
Announcement, delays, Cancellations
So while I was researching some stuff for this week, I noticed a fair mix of different announcements, Delays and even a cancellation or 2 (one that I missed from a few weeks ago that I will briefly mention) and I will delve into all of them in this one section instead of some separate pieces (one I want to give a little context to in this section and their is also one other announcement that I am saving for its own story segment)
now for the one delay from this week and this was supposed to be planned for release next week but it was announced a little earlier this week that the planned Batman Arkham Trilogy has been delayed by about 6 weeks from initial planned release of October 13th and instead will now be released still in time for Christmas on December 1st. Now my guess is probably from the port of Arkham Knight as it is similar to the release of the PC port back in 2015 and want to make it run perfectly so I can understand that but as long as I can still buy it before the end of the year is fine with me
But what are your thoughts on the announcements, delays and cancellations in particular and do you think any are reasonable or dumb? Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments.
Now I did mention their was one other announcement from this week that I wanted to keep separate and that is with the short teaser above as on Thursday in a big surprise reveal, we have gotten the announcement Nintendo and Lego have teamed up again with a new wave of sets based on Animal Crossing. Now when I saw this announcement I literally was in shock and in excitement and felt my wallet get lighter from wanting to but all the sets but yes there is a wave of sets and minifigures coming based on what looks like the most recent game of New Horizons. Now what I know currently is that there are 5 sets currently confirmed, these sets are coming in at 15, 20, 30, 40/50 and the most priciest is 75 euros currently and for the moment it is project for release either in January or in March of Next year. Now we also got some characters confirmed including Isabelle, Tom Nook, Kappa, Marshal, Rosie, Bunnie, Fauna and Julian. I am sure we will get some unveiled looks at the sets in due time and if other characters will becomes minifigures as well (including the likes of the main villager character).
Merc with the mouth blabbing the rumours
And for our last story is coming to us from Marvel and from the guy in Red, the merc with a mouth Deadpool. Now currently as things stand Deadpool is still projected for release in May of next year (but could change if the strikes have not found an agreement) and we have not seen much in terms of the plot or anything besides the famous pic of Deadpool and Wolverine in full costume and that Carmen Elektra from the 2005 film is going to be in this film. But now their has been some rumours floating around the websphere that may connect it to something that has just recently come out and another based on someone who is the big name in the music industry right now and who I will be talking about next week. So the basis that I have mentioned in this episode is that Loki has just premiered its 2nd season and one of the big aspects of this show is the setting which is in the contents of the TVA and some rumours have been floating around that the TVA and Mobius will be the connection that brings Deadpool and the Fox universe of characters to the MCU. There has been some leaked set photos of the 20 century fox logo left in disarray in a barren wasteland which could be the place that LOKI was sent to when they are pruned and given that Deadpool messed with the timeline in the post credits of his 2nd film like saving his fiancé, saving Bob and other means that it may cause some form of nexus event that they will want to stop so we'll have to see about that if it becomes true (or even if he has a surprise cameo in the new season).
Does Lego take payment in Bell Loans?
But what are your thoughts on this, did you expect it? Are you excited for this and what other Nintendo Porperties do you see making a transition to the buildable brick form? Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below.

The other one is the rumour surrounding the Music superstar of Taylor Swift. Now we all know she is a big name right now with her Eras tour making her way across the globe, the film version out next week, countless albums out in a single year and all dating rumours, one of the big focuses that people are pointing too was that she has been spending a fair bit of time with some big names, in particular Ryan Reynolds, his wife Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy (Deadpool 3's director) and many have begun to speculate that she will be in the new film as the superhero of Dazzler, an x-men who converts sound vibration in light and energy beams and I feel that does make sense for her to take on the role but we will have to see how this turns out as both of these discussion are currently rumours and until we see any confirmation or leaked images we will only speculate for now.
But what are your thoughts on this and are you excited for the New Deadpool and do you feel he may appear in the new season of LOKI? Let me know down in the comments below.
And with that, that brings us to the end of another episode of weird mind news room and I do hope that you enjoyed my rambling for another week. Let me know all your thoughts and opinions of things down below and until the next blog, I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday :)
Signing off
