Weird Mind News Room Episode 44: Dec 25th - 31st

*theme songs, fast cars and great bars*

T'was the blog after Christmas and all was- yeah I'm not repeating that for this week. Hello again one and all for yet another new episode of Weird Mind News Room and possibly the last blog of the year (unless I pull a multitude of Blogs out of thin air by Sunday at Midnight). In another short-ish blog this week we will delve into all of the new releases trailers and news that has come out of this week so without further ado lets get right to it then shall we.

New Releases of legend

Movies
Ferrari

So the first of the new releases for the week is bringing us a biopic with a fair bit of speed as the first film will be of course talking about the new Michael Mann directed film of Ferrari. This film will be delving into the story of Enzo Ferrari, the godfather of the famous sportscar brand and how he brought this car from a simple concept to a massive car designed for speed and luxury, while also delving into his personal life with his estranged marriage and family. Now the reception on this film has been very modestly recieved for its performances and of its scenes with high speed racing, though some criticisms aimed towards the more slow dramatic moments but I am sure it'll appeal to different groups and if you you want some high speed entertainment then you can check it out in cinemas now.

Next Goal Wins

Now for a feel good movie based on a sport in general I would not really have much of an interest in at all as Kiwi director of Taika Waititi is back again with an all new true story film of Next Goal Wins. This new film will tell the true story of Coach Thomas Rongen who on the verge of being sacked is given the opportunity to prove his worth when he is tasked to coach the Samoa football team, labelled the worst team in the world and known for the dreaded 31-0 game, and give them a fighting chance to make it to the 2014 world cup qualifiers. Now the reception on this film has not been the most glowing of reviews with while the charm and some humour is there, it does feel a little flat compared to his other work, but if you want a feel good sports film to check out then I am sure you could do worse then check this out in cinemas too.

TV Shows
Pokémon Concierge

The holiday season got you feeling blue and would rather be somewhere more warm sunny and relaxing, then look no further then taking a trip to a little paradise getaway with a new series based on the worldwide phenomenon with Pokémon Concierge. This new stop motion series will follow Haru, a concierge at a new resort for the adorable Pokémon's and their owners and will make it their effort to make it the best stay possible. Now the series has been receiving some very strong reception at the moment for its look and charm and if you want to check in to this new resort you can do so now on Netflix.

What If Season 2 Episodes 4-9
And to round up all that is out this week we are bringing up the reminder that the last 2/3rds of the 2nd season of Marvel's What if will be dropping a new episode each day this week up till Saturday with the episodes focusing on Tony Stark finding himself trapped on Sakaar with the Grandmaster and must team up with Valkyrie, Gamora and Korg to beat him in a death race 3000 style match, a continuing story for Captain Carter as she confronts the Hydra Stomper in present day as well as dealing with the Red Room, the introduction to a new native superhero known as Kahhori, an Alternate take on Hela being banished to Midgard and discovering the power of the 10 rings and a new take on the Avengers set in the distant Past of 1602 with the finale seeing Sinister Strange appearing to be assembling the Guardians of the Multiverse again to solve another major threat in the finale. Now I have quite enjoyed this new season and may give a quickfire reviews when I can in the new year for the 9 episode and will give my thoughts on them all when I do so but I would check them out on Disney+.

Trailers of Infinite possibilities

Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver
On the one of the 2 trailers for this week is actually a first look at the upcoming 2nd part for a film that only released less then 3 days before this trailer dropped and that is with Zack Snyder new sci-fi Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver. Now this will follow on from the end of the first film that will see Kora and her newfound army of adversaries build a proper army to fight against the imperium and save their home and the universe from the Motherworld. Now as of writing this I have watched the first part and I am a little mixed on the original and I will give it a review in due time (like my score off my head at the moment is looking around a 5-6 maybe) but I hope that it will lead to a decent 2nd part (or else the case of they shot themselves in the foot with making 2 normal ones and then announcing they'll have some directors cut versions in the future) but I guess we'll have to wait until this releasing around Easter (weird to be thinking that when it is barely over Christmas) on April 19th.

What If..... Season 3
Now for a surprise drop with an announcement as while I talked on another series from last week that was releasing new episode each day for 9 days since last Friday, we have gotten an all new announcement of a 3rd season for Marvel anthology series of What If. Now its not a sizzle reel of what to expect in the 3rd season but we got a full 3 minute clip of an upcoming episode which focuses on Bucky and Red Guardian having a little run in with the law that maybe like a parody of the Fugitive, Sugarland Express or Thelma and Louise but I am sure we will learn more about the whole ordeal when this new season be dropping sometime soon (could be late next year but I'll give it early 2025 at the latest).

News to  amuse those post holiday Blues

The Smash Bros Cinematic Universe
Now the first of some news in a very quiet slow week that was technically from last week but only saw it after writing up last week, we are delving into some animation news and in particular animation based on a video game. Now if you may remember this year if you followed in terms of film box office we have only seen 2 (and a close 3rd) films crossing a billion Dollar threshold in release with one being Barbie and the other of course being the Super Mario Bros Movie from Illumination. Now the film was very popular and while it had its share of mixed reception from critics it was a fun time at the films (also I did a review that you can find on this blog channel). Now the reason I bring this up and the studio is because their has been some rumblings and discussions that the studio has been in talks with Nintendo to create a Cinematic Universe (or the NCU) of their ips and characters to where they want to lead it all the way up to a film based on the popular fighting game of Super Smash Bros. Now while this does sound like an interesting idea, it does come with a few concerning aspects and questions, particularly with the first being what was announced a few weeks back which was that Nintendo was teaming up with Sony to create a Live Action film based on the Legend of Zelda as well as the case we have already seen a form of Pikachu in film form with the live action Detective Pikachu from 2019. It also comes into affect about what IP's they own as if they are going to based the first film on the original game then the likely cast would be Mario, Luigi, DK, Link, Samus from Metroid, Captain Falcon from F-zero, Ness from Earthbound, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox from Star Fox, Pikachu and Jigglypuff and of those in the fighter roster the Pokémon and Kirby could also create an issue, as well as the case if they want to start adding characters from the later games like Solid Snake, Zora, Bayonetta, Pit, Mega Man and many others that it may cause a bit of an issue. Now it will be intriguing to see if they can pull it off and release a planned cinematic universe that will see an animated Pokémon, Metroid and Zelda film among others as well as a Mario Movie sequel but I am sure we'll learn more overtime and if there is any updates I will let you know in a future update.

But what are your thoughts on the idea of a NCU and possible Smash Bros Movie and what films would you want to see from this planned cinematic universe? Let me know what your thoughts are down below and lets discuss an ideal roadmap with it.

This movie will be needing a lot of ink
And now another piece of news concerning video games and movies, but this time we are delving more on the focus of a indie developer based game series and that is with the House of Mouse inspired horror game of Bendy and the Ink Machine. Now this series was another surprise fan favourite horror that followed in the footsteps of a popular franchise that started 3 years prior and has seen 2 massive games released over the last few years as well as top down games and books as well too and now it seem they are following the main bear and his friends metal footsteps as they are heading to the big screen. It was announced on Christmas Day that Joey Drew Studios in collaboration with Radar Pictures are in the process of developing a full length movie on the horror games that will see you the main character of a past employee of the company returning to the studio he was once a part of (or founder of) and discover that things have taken quite a drastic and dark turn. Now I am wondering the concept of 2 questions. The first will be if this will be based on the original game of Bendy and the Ink Machine, its sequel of The Dark Revival or an entirely new story that is loosely based on the books. As for my 2nd question I am wondering if this will be in Live action or if it will keep it to the inspiration and stay as an animated feature as it could go one of 2 ways. Now not much else is known about the project yet and I am sure its in the early stages but once any word of when we can expect its release I will keep you in the loop.

But what are your thoughts on a film based on Bendy and if you have played the games tell me your opinions of them as well and everything else down in the comments sections below.

The director exits a Horror show of a production

Now for the final story that came out of a quiet week, we are returning to a story that I brought up about a month ago which about some developments of a new entry of a 20 year horror series and that is with the Scream franchise. Now as I mentioned back then it was that the main story was that the newest entry of Scream 7 was finding itself in a bit of a rough situation as it was announced that the actress of Melissa Barrera had been fired from the film due to her posts about the ongoing and vile war in Israel and Palestine where she condemned the actions done by Israel, the company dropped her due to it be labelled as Anti-sematic (and something I am not going to get into deeply as I do not want to get overly political at all on this page). Following that Jenna Ortega also dropped out which may have been in solidarity with her co-stars firing but also due to her scheduling conflicts at the time with the 2nd season of Wednesday. Well now it looks like another person has seen them leave this mess of a production as it was announced early this week the director of Christopher Landon has stepped down as the director of the film as he described the production as a "Dream Job that turned into a Nightmare". Now it has been the case that the film has been falling apart even before all of this with the actress that played final girl Sydney Prescott of Neve Campbell didn't return for the 6th entry due to some unfair pay amounts and they seemed to be trying to get her back for this film as a last cause effort. Now its hard to say if this will see the light of day at this point or whether it may be time to put this series to bed or hiatus is really unknown but I guess we will find out down the line if anything changes or happens and if it does I will update you all in a later piece.

But what's your thoughts on this announced departure and do you still see this 7th film happening or is this series done for? Let me know what your thoughts on all of this down below in the comments.

And with all of that, that bring us to the end of another edition of Weird Mind News Room and I hope that you have enjoyed listening to my shorter ramblings this week and of all of my ramblings of this year. I appreciate everyone for even giving my content a chance and checking me out as it has been quite a very weird and sometimes overwhelming and tough year but I appreciate any form of support you give on this or the video versions. I hope to hear your thoughts on all that was discussed this week and love to hear your thoughts on stuff and will raise a figurative glass to you all and wish you a very Happy New Year and hope to see you all in 2024 and hopefully some good news in the process too for next year and as always stay being wonderful people and have a great day every day and I will catch you all in the next one.

Signing Off
