Weird Mind News Room Episode 54: March 4th-10th

*Some music with a hot serving of these nuts*

Hello there everyone to what is essentially the 54th episode of Weird Mind News Room and the new episode before I become much older then I already am (but still the nervous anxiety induced self). Well Anyway, I am here to delve into the mix variety of New Releases, Some trailers that all mostly all have a distinct pattern and some news stories with one relating to a new release, so lets not waste our time and lets get to talking all things media.

New Releases of the rocking type

Movies
Imaginary

So we have all had forms of some Imaginary friends in the past or even still do in the older ages (these are the voices I talk to most times) but this week we have an all new horror film known as Imaginary. This film finds a woman named Jessica moving her family to her childhood home where soon her youngest stepdaughter Alice finds a small stuffed bear named Chauncey but when her behavior becomes more and more disturbing, she soon discovers that the stuffed bear may be a lot more sinister then it seems to be. Now the reception for this film has not been that great that while the concept is interesting, the basis of the film has been seen many times with a lack of scares or fright. But if you want to see the fear a small bear could cause then you can check out this new film in Cinemas.

Damsel

Now we have all heard of the basis of the Damsel in Destress from plenty of stories in the past, we now are taking the latter part of that quote out as we have the all new film of Damsel. Now this film will follow Elodie, a headstrong woman from a distant kingdom who is invited in an engagement to be married to a prince of a nearby kingdom that could help their nations struggles and while all sounds good at first it is discovered it was all a ruse and that she has been used as a sacrifice to appease a fire breathing dragon that resides over the kingdom that was once theirs and use her wit must find a way to escape the creature and exact her revenge against the kingdom that wronged her. Now reception on this film has been quite mixed that while with some praise to the performances, the visuals and narrative have been a bit of a mixed opinion whereas the basis of this being a strong feminist leading film may have been initially great in theory, it feels it may have been best to release it a few years prior to really bring stronger appeal to the audience. But if you want some form of a new strong female led fantasy then you can check this film out now on Netflix.

Soul Re-Release?

Now this is just a bit of  a announcement but I have made mentions possibly in the past about the basis of some of the films from Pixar were released straight onto Disney+ with no extra charge as some released during the pandemic (even though the 2 released in mid 2021 and early 2022 had a chance for a release but was annoyed they went straight to streaming) we now are finally seeing them on the big screen where they deserve. Last month we got Turning Red (which I did enjoy watching again on the big screen), this months one is with Oscar winner Soul coming out this month and then next month seeing the last one of Luca get a release and I for one think it is great to see them where they were meant to be seen and you can check them out for yourself in cinemas.

TV Shows
Guy Ritchies The Gentlemen

Now onto shows we have a follow up to a small 2019 hidden gem from popular British filmmaker of Guy Ritchie that is technically a follow up with just a small bit of a change of cast and this is with the series of the Gentlemen. Now this will follow the story of Eddie Halstead who suddenly becomes the sole inheriting of a 15,000 acre land and have become a duke of Halstead, but soon learns his land has a secret weed growing business run by the man known as Bobby Glass and as long as he keep it quiet, he may be cut in a little on the action. Now the reception on this series has been decently well recieved for its writing, cast and connection to the original film from a few years ago with a bit of some fun flair and if you are interested in checking it out you can catch the full season available now on Netflix.

Extraordinary Season 2

Now we live in a world where we get a ton of new content based on Superheroes every year but what if there is a twist and that we all have some power of our own (well mostly) as we have recieved a 2nd season to the series of Extraordinary. Now in this world, when a person turns 18 they will gain their own superpower, well that is except for Jen, a 25 year old costume shop worker who seems to have been forgotten and must deal with the fears of just being a normal human in a world of superpowered beings and this season will continue the chaos with new drama and new powers to boot. Now this season like the first season has been very well recieved for its concept, humour and character and if you want to check it out for yourself you can catch the full 2 seasons now on Disney+.

Video Games
The Outlast Trials

Now I may have mentioned this game a long while back in may of last year but I felt since it is now an official release as of this week, we are heading back into the dark walls of the experiments of the Murkoff Corporation as we have the new game of The Outlast Trials. This new single play / co-op adventure will see you become a test subject for Murkoff as you travel across some vast different locations to complete tasks and objectives while avoiding certain death from some of the freakes guarding the areas like an unhinged Police chief and a deranged Nanny with a kooky Hand Puppet. Now reception on this title has been well recieved for its scares, visuals and for the co-op aspect with some critiques on the lack of content but most case will see some updates with new stuff overtime probably but if you want to try it alone or with friends, then you can play it now on PS5, Series X/S and PC.

Music
Ninja Sex Party: These Nuts

Now I know that their is an album by a certain much bigger musician that also came out this week and has caused drama as she has used it supposedly to stir drama about her husband possibly cheating on her (when she has done the same in the past with past relastionships), I am not getting into that at all and instead talking about some more comical and tastier ass jams as the boys of Danny and Ninja Brian have returned with their new album of These Nuts. Now this will hear some great tunes such as prepping for a concert while preparing to sort other things, a perfect song to describe what I experience internally a lot more lately with social settings, what I will blare once I start to learn to drive this year when I pass and get a vehicle of my own, a song about the environment and many many more great tunes. Now I have listened to the full album a few times and I can say is that they have another great selection on their hands and you can listen to their new album on all music sharing platforms, youtube or what I will be doing is getting it in a physical album at some point soon.

Trailers of Pure Imagination

The Garfield Movie
Now most of the trailers have a theme of them mainly being animation trailers and the first of the week conveniently released on a day this certain character hates the most of the week and this is of course everyone's favourite fat orange Lasagna loving cat as we have recieved a new trailer for the Garfield Movie. Now this will see Garfield tell the tale of how he was adopted by John and Odie and how life seems great but suddenly when him and Odie get kidnapped by a sadistic powerful Cat, they will team up with Vic, Garfield's long lost father to escape from their captor's, complete a daring heist and get back home. Now I think that this looks like the form and style of the original comic strips from Jim Davies and while the likes of Chris Pratt doing his normal voice again, I still think that this film does look like it could be very entertaining and you can check out this new film when it releases in cinemas on May 24th.

Dreamworks The Wild Robot
Now we go from Sony to the creative mind of Dreamworks and while the US will be receiving the latest entry in the Kung Fu Panda series this week (a release another 2-3 weeks from now here) and a..... not so great sequel to a popular film from 14 years ago (and I can concur of the first half I watch it is a drag to get through), we have recieved a look at their next project and that is in the form of a film known as the Wild Robot. Now this film is based on a popular book series and will follow a robot of Rozzum unit 7134 or Roz for short is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and will soon learn to survive against the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships to the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned Gosling. Now I have to say one thing and that is this trailer was so beautiful from the simple lack of dialogue and focus on the visuals which seem to be going in the style of Puss in Boots 2 and I have to say that this trailer did make me tear up from how it will made and shown and I am for one looking very much forward to this film and it will heading into cinemas from the 18th of October.

Monsters at Work Season 2
And now for the last of the 2 animated trailers are both coming from the animation studio I care a lot about and that is with Pixar and the first trailer is coming to us with after announcing to be releasing this last year but no word we have finally gotten a trailer for season 2 of Monsters at Work. Now this will follow on from the first season and will see Tyler Tuskman and the MIFT team coming to terms with now being jokesters and it seems to be a bit of a challenge for Tyler. So when a career day at Monsters University brings him into contact with Johnny Worthington offering a career at Fear Co, he will have to decide will he stay with his newfound community or go pursue what he was meant to do. NOw I enjoyed the first season and while its not probably up to the standards of the film, I had a lot of fun with this office style series and hopefully we will see a lot more characters from the prequel film (maybe even a Oozma Kappa cameos) but I am sure we will find out when the series premieres from May 5th on Disney+.

Inside Out 2
And for the last of the animated trailers, we are getting to know our emotions once again and even some new ones as we have recieved another new trailer for the upcoming film of Inside Out 2. Now this will follow the now teenaged Riley and her emotion in her head of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger as they go through their own sense of change as the headquarters gets an upgrade and with it comes new emotions including Anxiety, a small orange ball of stress, Envy, a little emotion with the biggest eyes, Ennui, the emotion of boredom that could not care and the fearful but gentle giant of Embarrassment who may be taking over control and casting out the original gang and they must find a way back to headquarters and stop her from changing Riley for the worst. Now I have been very excited for this film and I think the introduction of these new emotions is a great addition that could make them the villains sounds like a great idea (and the case I can relate with the emotion of Anxiety as I am constantly living it from the sheer anxiety and constant panic attacks I have on a regular occourance) and I think some of this looks funny and will have a very meaningful message to it too and am very excited to check out the feel everything movie when it releases on June 14th.

Fallout (Amazon)
and to wrap up on the trailers for the week will see us head into the distant Dystopian future frozen in the past as we have recieved an all new trailer for the video game adaptation of Fallout. Now this series will follow the aftermath of a alternate history from advancements of Nuclear weaponry after WW2 and a resource war cause a total nuclear apocalypse and for civilians to head underground to the vaults below. 200 years later a vault dweller from Vault 33 will emerge to the surface and leave behind the home she has ever known and find life and herself amongst the dangerous remains of a devastated Los Angeles. Now I have played a bit of the games in the past and from what I have seen from the footage of the 2 trailers it does look like it is really respecting the material and actually looks very entertaining and it is not too long away from release as the full series will be dropping on April 11th on Amazon Prime.

News of the intergalactic purpose

TWRP planned to make their best music video into a series and studios need to pick it up
Now I will start this weeks news stories with a story I was planning to discuss last week but I felt it fit more to the basis of one of the new releases of this week in general with 2 stories based on a certain band. Now the first small bit of news is the announcement of TWRP dropping an all new album very soon as it is announced the new album of Digital Nightmare is releasing in 2 weeks time on March 22nd and that is a great thing to hear to add more music to the growing selection of NSP and TWRP and will look forward to that albums release.

Now I am delving more into the actual story now and this is to do with one of their songs. Now many songs can have some meaning to a lot of people from the lyrics, the music tone, the song itself and maybe even from the music video and to say my taste is anything but normal is a bit of an undertstatement if I am excited more for a different album then a larger musicians new album and prefer comedy, indie and experimental music then most modern music. But the focus is really on just one song in particular and that is with a track by them known as Starlight Brigade. Now while the first half of the name has an important meaning to me in my heart for someone, the ballad in particular is one of the most visually stunning and fantastic pieces of music videos I have every laid my little old big blue eyes on from the visuals, the music, the songs story and so much more (to the point was an inspiration to my final year project in College I may release at some point) that for many like myself have wondered if we would ever see something like this to be made into an anime...... and it turns out, it may have been. You see about a week and a half ago, those Groove Crusaders announced on their socials that they had for the last 2-3 years been pitching to make this into an animated series and had a clear vision, story, cast, crew and everything in between with the music video as a jumping off point as a proof of concept and while most places appreciated the enthuisiasm and the concept they to have passed on it in general which I for one am thinking most of them are making a big mistake and it seems to be an agreement on socials about it as well. Now I feel that they should look at the basis and see that that likes of the creation of shows or franchises from YouTubers is a new market that is starting to see grow and do well with the likes of Zach Hadel and Michael Cuzack creating Smiling Friends a few years ago with a 2nd season coming this year as well as Cuzack working on Yolo for Adult Swim and Koala Man for Hulu and Vivienne Medrano releasing Hazbin Hotel this year on Prime Video with A24 that has been very popular, the soundtrack is in the no.1 spot for the last month and another season on the way (and it is a really great show that I will be doing a review for). So I do hope that these Crusaders will give it a chance and some studio will see the success and potential and hopefully we will get that great Starlight Brigade series it always deserved to be.

but what are your thoughts on this whole ordeal and do you see this hopefully getting a release into an actual series at some point and what are your thoughts on those other shows mentioned. Let me know what are your own thoughts are down below.

Another new resident will be living in the Arconia
Now the next story I am going to make this next few stories a bit more shorter compared to the first and last story and this next story will bring us a bit of casting news as while we mentioned some of the casting for this season last week, another new guest has just checked into this growing cast for the season as it was announced that actor Kumail Nanjiani has joined the growing cast for season 4 of Only Murders in the Building. Now Nanjiani may be a recognizable face as he has seen a fair bit of appearance in recent memory in projects like Stuber, Marvel's Eternals, the upcoming Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, Obi Wan Kenobi and many many more and from what I have seen of him sound like a very good choice and he can have some good comedic humor to the whole ordeal and I am sure it will be interesting to see how he will interact with the 3 podcast sleuths as they figure out the new murder in the building.

But what are your thoughts on this casting announcement and who else do you see joining this season and are you excited for this upcoming season? Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments.

The 4 elements will return as well as a planned release for some planned cloning

Now the next story will be delving into the announcement of 2 new confirmations with the first of a announcement to more adventures and the other is a film initially planned for a release at the end of this month but was push back with a new release date.

So we'll start with the  first discussion and as it was discussed 2 weeks ago we saw the release of the full season to the Live action version of the popular series of Avatar The last Airbender that has seen some mixed reception since its release from its messiness of the source material. But to those that loved it or enjoyed it for its efforts well you are in luck as it looks like they are planning to make the full story an actual reality as it was confirmed earlier this week that we will be receiving 2 more seasons to the show which lines up with the length of the original series of 3 seasons. Now it is a case I do hope that they will actually do one thing and listen to the fans and make it more faithful and care to the series and not take out aspects that helped develop the characters a lot more in the original series and not strip it of its charm but I guess we will have to see whenever they start work on those seasons.

As for the other piece of announcement news, we were initially supposed to get a new film known as Mickey 17 that was starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Oscar Winner of Boo Jong Ho and was initially planned for release on March 29th, however around the beginning of February it was suddenly removed from the release calendar. Now we have received some update on it and we now have a new planned release date of January 31st 2025 which coincides with the Lunar New Year of next year. Now it is a case that we have not seen much on the content of the film but I am sure we will be the case that we will get more info on the project very soon.

But what are your thoughts on the announcements of the renewal of Avatar and the release of Jong Ho's newest film? let me know what your thoughts are down below in the comments section.

RIP to the creator of Dragon Ball (Akira Toriyama)
Now it is not all happy news as we have the sad announcement of the passing of an iconic person in media history that has shaken the industry. It has been notified that the man known as Akira Toriyama had tragically passed away earlier last week at the age of 68 with news only breaking a few days ago. Now many of the industry would know him for his creations as he was the one responsible for the creation for the long running series of Dragon Ball as well as the creator of some of the characters for some games like Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger. Now while myself has not been much of a avid watcher or interest in that series but I will say that his creation has changed the way many look at the likes of anime in general and helped paved a path for mainstream attention and we shall remember and respect him for his efforts. He passed away on March first after suffering an acute subdural hematoma and surrounded by his family and may this creative genius Rest In Peace.

The end of an era to Rooster Teeth and of MatPat

Now the last of the stories for this week is one story that was mentioned a few weeks ago that will see the end of the journey at the end of the week and the news of another end of an era that came out of nowhere this week and will be delved into for this final story.

Now I will start on the news that came out of nowhere this week and shocked a fair amount and to some that was thinking it was heading to the end but it was announced that Time Warner was shutting down the content creation giant of Rooster Teeth after they had been in service in the internet for 21 years since they started in 2003 and they were seen as one of the biggest companies on the internet and on Youtube besides the original idea of the website as well as the 5 year defunct giant of Machinima that was on par with it. Over the years they have hosted many channels and concepts like on the Spot, Achievement Hunter, Slo Mo Guys, Sugar Pine 7 and the one I followed from Machinima to RT up to a degree and check in now and again with Funhaus, as well as the creations of some popular animated series like RWBY, Camp Camp and Red vs Blue. Now the announcement came as a surprise to many including those in the company and seems to be adding to the list of scrapped things from WB (though it may be more with other company factors). Now they haven't fully shut down as of yet as this will be over the process of the next few months but it is sad to see this giant company close its doors when they have provided entertainment for over 2 decades and I would like to thank them for many years of entertainment and I will follow along with some of these creators overtime with their new adventures.

And to add to the somber news of the week, a good while back in January we had discovered through a video that Theorist Extraordinaire of MatPat had announced that he will be stepping down as the focal person on all 4 channels of Food, Style, Film and Game Theory on the 9th of March and we have reached the final day this week with quite the emotional send off with him not focusing on any games at all but rather on the channel itself with a bit of a history and passing the torch to the new hosts of the channels (as well as a surprise cameo in there too across 6 different endings). Now I have followed them for well over 10 years when I first came across Mario being Insane to the likes of some series from Bendy and the Ink Machine, Hello Neighbor, Sonic and of course his 60+ videos of the endless rabbit hole lore of Five Nights at Freddy's it was always fun to watch and be entertained by the theories that are made from the journey and while I know those channels will continue on with new hosts, I will say that it has been a pleasure MatPat and to thank you for the 10+ years of content and to show that maybe not all of this is just a theory.

But what are your thoughts on these announcements of the news of RT shutting down and your thoughts on his final Theory video in general? Let me know what you think of it all down below in the comments

And with all of that, this brings me to the end of Episode 54 of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you have enjoyed what I have to discuss and say this week of all that came out. Let me know your opinions on all that was discussed down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday doing many great things and I will see you all in the next piece.

Take Care, keep hydrated, stay being you, signing off,
Sam H
