Weird Mind News Room Episode 57: March 25th - 31st

*music to train to kung-fu too

Hello there everyone to the 57th installment of the weekly news round up series of Weird Mind News room where this week will be a lot less jam packed compared to last week that is for sure with a decent amount of new releases, trailers and some news stories for the week so lets now waste too much time and let us get into the new releases of the week

Mastering the art of New Releases

Movies
Kung Fu Panda 4

so the first big new release of this week is a return to a series that has not been on the big screen in nearly a decade as everyone's favourite martial arts using Panda of Po is back once again with an all new film of Kung Fu Panda 4. This new film will see Po being told that he will no longer be the Dragon Warrior and will ascend his position as the new spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace, but when a new shapeshifting villain has taken the form and power of powerful kung fu masters including some from the past, Po must team up with a sneaky thief named Zhen to stop her from becoming too powerful and save the day again with his power of awesomeness. Now the reception on this film has been well recieved for its animation, cast and characters and action, though some see this as being a little unnecessary and a debate of this being the weakest in the series but still a very enjoyable film and if you want to see some more new action based adventure for all ages you can check this film out in cinemas.

Godzilla  x Kong a New Empire

Now for another film that will be focusing on main characters being animals or creatures but this one being on a more titan sized scale as we have recieved the all new entry in the Monsterverse with the oddly titled Godzilla x Kong the new empire. This film will follow on from GvK and see Kong become a protector of the hollow earth while Godzilla watches over the lands above, but when an all new powerful creature of the Scar King (essentially another giant ape with a massive wing span and looks like a balding man) rules the hollow earth with an iron fist and threatens the destruction of the entire planet, the two titans that once butted heads will have to become an unlikely alliance to stop the Scar King and save the earth above and below. Now the reception on this film has been a little mixed with praise for the all out monster action, visuals and the characterization of Kong with some criticism on the lack of focus to Godzilla and the usual complaints of the human characters and story being a bit mixed, but if you want some high octane action on a titan scale then you can check this film out in cinemas now.

Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey 2?

Ok, this one may be a bit of a rule breaker on this form but I checked out release dates and this did apparently release this week for a 3 day cinema event but just when you thought it was safe to go back into the hundred acre wood, the animals are out again for blood as the small budget horror and part of the first edition of Horror most bore is back with the sequel of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. Now this will follow on from the first film where Christopher Robin has escaped Pooh and Piglet and has revealed to his home town about their existence but many do not believe his story and put the blame of the murders on Christopher Robin. But soon Pooh, Piglet as well as new editions of Owl and Tigger will go on a murderous rampage to exact revenge on Christopher and show that they do exist and they are out for blood. Now the biggest shock I had at first about this film was that this film was getting positive reviews that for a good bit of this week it was sitting with a perfect score of positive reviews but has slowly dropped to more mixed reviews with praise for more of its performances, designs and kills while the likes of the serious and humourous and some of the story has been hit with a bit of a divide. Now I am unsure if it still available in cinemas as it did release in the middle of the week but I am sure it will be on digital very quickly or get some wide release soon.

TV Shows
Smiling Friends Season 2?

Now for another one that may be debated for release this week unless it is just out in the US but it looks like the world may be needing a little more of a positive outcome as we have got the release of an all new episode to the 2nd season of Smiling Friends. Now of course this will see the continued misadventures of the smiling friends company and follow Charlie, Pim, Glep, Alan and Mr Boss as they make it a mission to make someone smile. Now most case if it is like the first season it will either be a full season release or an episode or 2 though some think this is an April fools joke given it is releasing at midnight but I am sure we will find out when the premiere hits on Sunday (if it does over here as it is in the US).

Video Games
South Park Snow Day

Now on the game side of things, we are heading on over to a quiet little mountain town who are experiencing quite the heavy change of the weather as we have an all new co-op adventure game in the form of South Park Snow Day. In this game you will play as the new kid and continue the extensive adventure story that was ongoing with the kids before a blizzard hits and soon you and a group of other kids will duke it out in extensive battles across the town in showing who is the true ruler of the land. Now the reception on this has been a fair bit mixed as while visuals and playing with friends is a highlight, the writing and repetitive nature as well as the games length has been hit with some criticism (though I will give the exception for the price of the game being low in general which explains the length) but if you are up for some blizzard based fun with friends you can play this now on PlayStation 5, Xbox series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Short film
The Spider Within: A Spider-verse Story

Now this week is a lot different with one last new edition in the form of  a short film and based on something that was initially planned for release this week as the concluding part of one of last years best animated films and films in general with a new short focusing on something that I can relate to as of late with the new short of The Spider Within: a Spider-verse Story. Now this 7 minute short is focused on Miles and with the basis of his struggles with home life, school, making friends as well as being this universes Spider-man to the point that he has found himself dealing with a really bad Panic attack in the form of an embodiment of a morphed giant spider creature and how he will deal with the issues. NOw this resonated with me for the reason that I love these films and for the basis for the last couple of months the likes of my anxiety has gotten a whole lot worse to the point where most nights I wake up having a bad panic attack and that the likes of trying to explain what you are dealing with or what you are going through can be very difficult when in your head you know what you want to say to some specific people but hold it back out of fear or not being able to properly explain it (as I know I have dealt with many times lately and have experienced alone or in a crowded area) and I think how it is represented here is fantastic. Now this is available to check out on YouTube and it is part of a charity campaign and I think it is worth to donate as well for a good cause and well worth a watch and I will give a more in depth discussion on this short soon as well as mental health on it too.

Trailers of action packed nature

Bad Boys Ride or Die (Bad Boys 4)
So now on trailers, the first film from this week is coming to us with the last of the films of this summer that has yet to receive a trailer and my initial thought that the film may be delayed given they only finished filming about 2-3 weeks ago and it comes out in about 3 months but we have finally recieved a trailer for the 4th entry in the Bad Boys franchise with Bad Boy Ride or Die. Now the plot on this film will see Mike and Marcus team up again for a dangerous mission when they have to clear the name of the late police captain after he linked in a massive drug cartel and they must clear his name while on the run and prove that ones that ride together, die together. Now I think the series is a decent watch and I really enjoyed the last film (even though most agree the subtitles for these films should swap) but it does look like a fair bit of entertaining action and you can catch these bad boys soon when it releases into cinemas on June 14th.

The Spiderwick Chronicles
The next of the trailers of this week is coming to us from the newest adaptation of a series with some weird and wonderful creations that may live among us but are invisible to the naked eye as we have recieved another new trailer for the new series of the Spider-wick Chronicles. Now this series will follow the grace family as they move into a new home in the middle of a isolated location surrounded by nature and when the youngest of Jared discovers a boggart and a field guide book proving about the existence of other magical and dangerous creatures, he must protect the book and his family from certain doom. Now I enjoyed the original film from the late 2000s and this does not look too bad and hopefully it will be a bit like the recent Percy Jackson series in appeal and respect to source material and we will find out when the series supposedly premieres on April 19th.

Unfrosted: the Pop Tart Story
Now over the last few years we have seen a vast amount of films being made on products from video games, Lego, Playmobil, Blackberry Nike Shoes and even Cheeto's, but now another new food product is getting their origin story film by a directorial debut of a comedian who created a renowed sitcom in the 90s on his surname as we have recieved a trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's film of Unfrosted: the pop tarts story. Now this will be based back in the 1960s and tell of the epic stand off between the cereal giants of Kelloggs and Post, as they battle it out to prove the creation and true reigning champion of the new breakfast product phenomenon. Now the way they are making this out is that it is the oppenheimer of cereal conflicts and it has the extensive list of acting names including Seinfeld, Melissa McCarthy, Hugh Grant, Bill Burr, Maria Bakalova and ..... Amy Schumer in this massive cast film and it does not look too bad but it is hard to say at the moment but the battle for breakfast will be viewable to check out on Netflix from the 3rd of May.

News of a titan scale

The Black Widow will face off against a dino
Now on the first of the new stories for this week is bringing us back to the stories that took over 65 million years in the making as we are talking on the ancient beasts of the dinosaurs as we discuss about a new upcoming release of a 4th film in the Jurassic World series. Now as it has been made aware since the beginning of this year, it has been reported and confirmed that a 4th Jurassic World film is in the works and that the confirmed things at the moment has been the writer of the film of David Koepp (the writer of the first 2 Jurassic Park films) as well as the director being Gareth Edwards (who worked with other giant lizards with 2014s Godzilla) and that is about as much as we know as well as a release date of July 2nd 2025 and the big question is about who will be cast in this film as it has been unclear if it is a new cast or if it is the return of the group from the last film but some new rumours that have popped up may be leaning towards the former opinion. According to some sources and rumours, it may be looking like one of the main cast for the series is in the form of Black Widow actress of Scarlett Johansson to be taking on the lead of this next project. Now it is unclear if it has been confirmed or not or who else may be involved but I am sure we will start hearing more on the casting rumours soon as well as questioning if this is set after Dominion or if this is like a side story during one of the previous entries but I am sure we will learn more real soon before they get to filming and once I hear anything I will update you in a later piece.

But what are your thoughts on this casting rumour and who else do you see appearing in the new entry and do you think any other previous cast will appear and are you excited for another Jurassic World film in general? Let me know your thoughts on it down below in the comments.

The formally known Bad Guys will prove to be good guys again real soon
Now the next story on our list is taking us over to the world of animation and to the studio often as a opposite to Disney with Dreaworks. Now the company has seen quite a few films come out just this year as they have in the span of just 2 months release 3 films, a pretty good adaptation of Orion and the Dark on Netflix, this weeks new release of Kung Fu Panda 4 and a complete embarrassment of a film sequel with Megamind vs the Doom syndicate (that I refuse to call it an actual canon sequel) and then still have plans for one more release with that beautiful looking animated film of the Wild Robot in October, but we are looking a little further into the future as we are seeing another particular group of recent memory (and another adaptation) receiving a follow up. According to insider sources, it has been confirmed that we are getting a sequel to the often overlooked 2022 animated film of the Bad Guys and it is coming sooner then you think as it has now garnered a release date on August 1st of next year. Now there is some plot sypnosis that comes with it that this crew are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys but are soon pulled out of retirement and forced to do one last job from the command of an all female squad of villains. Now it is unclear if this is based on all of the books that this series is based on but it also brings to question if this will look to the level of the first film as it has been seen from some discussions as of late that the studio is seeing a lot of extensive layoffs in the company which could put a damper on the quality but it may have been in development before all of these layoffs happened (when surprisingly they are owned by Universal who own Illumination yet they seem to target this company instead and let them off when it only seems fair to have some from that company mix to the older studio) but I am sure we will learn and see more about the whole project by the time the film releases in early August.

But what are your thoughts on this and are you excited for a sequel to The Bad Guys and what are your thoughts of the original if you have seen it? Let me know what you think down below in the comments.

The Bear and Friends are out for Honey once again
Surprisingly the next story also relates to one of the supposed new releases of this week and this is to do with a cinematic universe I talked about last week an that of course has to do with the Jagged Edge's Twisted Childhood universe. Now as you are aware it has been seen the basis that they have planned out a series of taking beloved characters who have entered the public domain and twist them into becoming horrid nightmare versions of those characters and it has been seen with the upcoming projects of Pinocchio, Bambi and Peter Pan and the one that started this whole saga was of course with Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey and its sequel that supposedly came out this week. Now it seems to be the case that with this sequel and the upcoming Poohniverse that it is not the last time we will be seeing the sinister old bear as just earlier this week it has been confirmed that we are now getting a 3rd entry in the Blood and Honey Saga. Now not much is known currently right now as to what this film will be about, but it has been discussed that the creators are looking to at least include some more new additions to the series which includes Rabbit (who has been mentioned back in the first), the Heffalump, the Woozles and from some rumblings from this film, possibly even Kanga and Roo. Now it is unclear if we will see this one release this year or before the likes of those other 3 films and the crossover film but it can be a surprising way how quick these films are pumped out and made but as soon as I hear anything else about this franchise I will let you know in a later piece.

But what are your thoughts on this film and how many versions of this film franchise do you see this film get and who else do you see appearing in this series? let me know your thoughts of this discussion down below and lets discuss it there.

The age of the purple dragon may rise again from the flames
And the final story of this week is with some more rumours and this time it is coming in the form of the rumours in Video Games. Now lately we have seen a fair few of these video game companies see some issues from layoffs, closures and being bought and even to the company we are talking about this week that went independent as we are talking on Toys for Bob. Now they went independent as they did not want to be stuck in the conglomerate machine of just making items and assets for the ginormous Call of Duty Warzone and wanted to create something different in the vein of the recent games they have been making which included the multiplayer game of Crash Team Rumble as well as Crash 4 It's About Time and beforehand a trilogy remake of one of the most beloved characters coinciding with the orange marsupial with Spyro the Dragon and it is with the Purple dragon that we have some news from. According to the sources that it floating around from a reliable Crash and Spyro info leaker it seems to be the case that the first game that Toys for Bob is working on and with the aided assistance of Microsoft is that we are getting a now official 4th Spyro game. Now I know what you are thinking and yes there is a 4th Spyro game in the form of the broken Enter the Dragonfly and a few other games after that, but it is similar in tone to how Crash 4 existed before It's about Time with the Wrath of Cortex it can exist in a separate timeline that creates 2 different branched timelines (well 3 with this series if you count the legend trilogy) but It would be nice to see Spyro come back again in a new main adventure instead as a guest character in Nitro Fueled and Team Rumble but I am sure if there is any word on this game, you can be sure I will provide an update overtime.

But what are your thoughts on a new Spyro Game and is there any specific characters from the series you would love to see make a return for the new game? Let me know your thoughts down below on who.

And with all of that this brings us to the end of the 57th edition of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you enjoyed a much more shorter rambling this week compared to the bumper packed previous episode. Let me know your opinions of everything that was discussed down below in the comment section down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day every day doing many great things and I will see you all in the next piece :)

Take care, Keep being you, Signing off
Sam H
