Weird Mind News Room Episode 62: Apr 29th - May 5th

 *epic music for epic stunts*

Hello there everyone to the newest edition of Weird Mind News Room with the 62nd edition of the weekly piece where I will once again be delving into the newest releases, trailers and all of the news stories of this week. So lets get to set and get rolling into the action

Get the stunt double of new releases into the action

Movies
The Fall Guy

We start off the new releases of this week with focusing on an all new all action film that focuses on the group of people that risk their lives for stuff too dangerous for the big stars and that comes to us in the form of the new action film of The Fall Guy. Loosely based on the tv series from the 80s, the film follows Colt Seavers, a stunt man past his prime who is hired for the role of the stunt man for the famous actor of Tom Ryder for the new film that is the directorial debut of his ex partner. But when the lead actor goes missing and the film is in jeopardy of being shelved, Colt will step up to become the hero, find the missing actor and save the movie. Now the reception on this film has been very well recieved with praise to the cast (particularly towards lead man Ryan Gosling and Lead woman Emily Blunt), the action, humour and the praise and respect towards a group that is often overlooked and well deserved the recognition and if you are up for an entertaining action flick then you can catch this new film now in cinemas.

Love Lies Bleeding

But if you are looking for some more added Muscular people but with more of the lady side of big buff woman (I know one who has been doing the progress herself and am very proud of her continuing progress of getting the beeg mooscles) then you are in look as we have the new romantic thriller that has been appealing to the masses in the US for about 2 months now with Love Lies Bleeding. This film will follow the character of Lou (Kristen Stewart) a reclusive gym manager who falls hard for Jackie (Katy O Brien), an ambitious bodybuilder who's heading to Vegas to pursue her dream and soon their love will lead to violence as they get pulled deep into the web of Lou's Criminal family. Now the reception on this film has also been very well recieved for its performances (especially the main leads with Katy O'Brien seeing a massive new audience enjoy her work) as well as the gripping tale it will build on as well as some element of the romance between the leads and if you want to check out this beefy workout then you can catch this new film now in cinemas.

Tarot

Lets hope your fortune is in your favour for the next film out for this week as we have the all new horror film known as Tarot. Based loosely on the horror story of "HorrorScope" (hearing it now sounds a lot better), it will follow a group of 7 friends who will unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within a cursed deck of tarot cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate, racing against death to escape the future foretold in their readings. Now reception on this film has been massively panned as it has been critiqued for it nonsensical plot and lack of scares (or even to show the scares or deaths in general) and for the mixed opinion on the cast, with some small praise for the concept that fumbled the execution (it really seems to be the case that Horror this year has been very lacking in quality, bar some exceptions) but if you want to discover your fate and fortune then you can check this new film out now in cinemas.

Unfrosted: The Pop Tart Story

Now for the last of the new films for this week is seeing the feature directorial debut for the man that created a classic series of television, as well as having the group of writers back from the film they did about bees (I am not joking with this, they all wrote Bee movie and this) but Jerry Seinfeld is hear to bring us his new battle of the Breakfast film with Unfrosted: the Pop Tart Story. Now based on the true-ish story, we see the film set in the 1960s and follow the rivalry between the 2 cereal giants of Kelloggs and Post to be the first to fight against one another in creating the newest innovative form of pastry based breakfast food that will define a generation and change the way we have the most important meal of the day. Now the reception on this film has been a fair bit mixed to not that well recieved as there is praise for the ensemble cast and the concept of the film but most issues stem in the lack of innovative use or lack of substance to this film. But if you are up for something that may be a hidden sweet treat then you can catch this new film now on Netflix.

Tv Shows
Monsters at Work Season 2

Now over to the tv side of things, where we will question is it really laughter we're after as we have recieved the all new second season of the Pixar show of Monsters at Work. This new season will now pick up after the events of the original film (1st season was them first implementing it and set between Waternoose getting arrested and the last scene of the film) where we will find Tylor Tuskman, a new Jokester, finding it hard to adjust from changing of scare power to laugh power and when an old face of Johnny Worthington appears and offers him a career at a rival company of Fear co. and soon it will bring some tension, mixed emotions and a lot of monsters to work all of this out. Now While I have not seen as many reviews for this series as of the moment, the reactions so far from the series similar to the first season is decently recieved for the concept of building on the idea from the end of the first film and seeing more familiar faces from the films is always a highlight (hopefully we'll see other familiar faces as this show continues) but if it is laughter you are after then you can check out the full 2 seasons now on Disney+

Welcome to Wrexham Season 3

Now for the last of the shows for this week is taking us to a small little sports team in a town in the Uk to catch up on the goings on from the running of the team from 2 big named Hollywood stars as we have the 3rd season of Welcome to Wrexham. This documentary type series will continue the goings on of following the management of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as they turn the small football team of Wrexham F.C into a global superstar team the world has ever seen through games, training and a couple of red cards to lead them to victory. Now like the first 2 seasons, the series has so far been well recieved for its in depth look at the behind the scenes look at running a football team and while I may not have the biggest of appeal of football (or most sports) I can appreciate the effort they put into running this team to victory and if you want to check this out for yourself then you can catch the first 2 seasons and the first 2 episodes of the new season now on Disney+.

Video Games
Endless Ocean: luminous

Now the final release of this week is taking us to the depths of the vast undiscovered or discovered blue waves that cover most of our planet as we have the all new game and entry in the endless ocean series with Luminous. In this game you will take on the role of a scuba diver tasked with encountering and documenting marine life and for the first time to explore the depths with up to 30 other divers from online. Now the reception on this game has seen a fair bit of mixed reception with praise for the visuals and calmness of the game to enjoy, though the concept of the game may get a little bit tiresome after a short stint of time but if you are up for a deep sea exploration and some blissful times then you can get this new game now on Nintendo Switch.

Trailers fit for a legendary king

Mufasa: The Lion King
Now the first of the trailers for the week is bringing us back to the world of a video that I had been working on for a bit and then put on the backburner and need to get back to it for at least part 1 and that is with the new look at a new Live action remake from Disney as after a fair bit of time we have finally recieved the first look at the only live action remake of this year and that is in the form of Mufasa: The Lion King. Now this film is a prequel sequel to the 2019 original remake and will follow the story of a young Mufasa and will tell the tale of how this small lion cub will go from an orphaned lion to becoming one of the greatest rulers of the Pride lands as well as seeing the relationship and fallout with his brother Scar. Now besides the elements that this film kind of goes against the elements of the lore we had known about Mufasa from the animated and Live action film, having something new in the universe of this story is interesting as it would've been a logical sense to just go with the surprisingly decent sequel or midquel but instead to go back to the tales of the original ruler, but I can say that it does have one thing I liked of the Live action original in that it looks stunning and hopefully we can have a little more emotion in this one but I have expectations a little low. But I am sure we will see how it turns out when this releases just before Christmas on December 20th.

My Adventures with Superman Season 2
Now we shall look to the sky and wonder if that is a bird or a plane and where is it flying towards, oh my it is heading this way as it seems to be we have gotten a trailer for the upcoming 2nd season of My Adventures with Superman. Now this will follow on for more adventures of Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen working to get the big stories for the daily planet, while also having Clark go about his secret life as the Man of Steel to save his new home and those he loves from all from of evil doers from his rogues gallery from earth and beyond the galaxy. Now I have heard many great things about this series and I do need to get onto to watching it (some elements of when it released here were a bit foggy on its release schedule) but I think it does look like what a Superman should be similar to the likes of the best comics from his 80+ year history and it will not be too long from release either as this series will be flying onto screens in 3 weeks time on May 26th.

Fairly Odd Parents: A New Wish
Now a little context on this next very short teaser but if you recall many years ago there was a series on Nickelodeon that was at the point the only other long running animated series besides the talking sponge which was about a 10 year boy with buck teeth with 2 goldfish that were his secret fairy godparents, well yeah they are back again for the 2nd form of a reboot (and thankfully it is not the cheap looking live action tv series that came out 2 years ago that died out so quick) and this is with the new series of Fairly odd Parents: A New Wish (also side note, this was one of 2 media pieces from Nickelodeon that was actually leaked online early, the other being a new Spongebob movie about Sandy cheek that has been on Twitter since about January of this year that is now planned for release in early August). This new series will not follow Timmy Turner, but instead a new girl named Hazel Well, a 10 year old girl who moves to a new city of Dimmidelphia due to her fathers new job and struggles to settle in without her brother as he is off at college. Soon she meets her neighbors of kids with Green and Pink hair that turn out to be Fairy God Parents of Cosmo and Wanda and decide to come out of retirement to be godparents for Hazel. Now the basis of this looks a lot different with the animation going for a more detailed look and moving away from 2d hand drawn or even the rough attempt of flash they did for the last season but it could be a lot better then the mess of later original series and the live action one but I guess we will find out sometime soon when it releases internationally on Netflix later this year.

The Bikeriders
The next trailer will be seeing you hit the road with a group of a new found family as we have probably the final trailer for the upcoming biker drama of the Bike Riders. Now this film is set in the 1960s, inspired by a fictional story from a photo book from 1967 that follows the rise of the Vandals MC, a Chicago outlaw biker group and told through the eyes of the gang members and their families will show the story of it evolving over the course of a decade from a surrogate family for local outcasts into violent organized crime and may threaten the original founders vision and way of life. Now I do like the aesthetic and have been hearing a lot of decent praise from its premiere late last year with some even seeing as some potential award season work and it may be worth getting the leather jacket and revving up the bike as this rides its way into cinemas on June 21st.

The Boys Season 4
And the next trailer to come out of this week is seeing an all out battle of the Supes that may end in a bloodbath as we have recieved an all new trailer for the 4th season of The Boys. The newest season will be getting political as Victoria Neuman is becoming increasingly closer to the Oval Office with the help of the tight control from Homelander who is consolidating his power. Now with more at stake than ever, The Boys and Butcher will need to find a way to collaborate and save the world before it is too late. Now it does seem to be the case that while many hero franchises have seen a mixed of opinion as of late, it seems this one may be the one that has seen the popularity stick to the highly anticipated and it does look like it is going to be big and exciting and we will not have to wait too long as the newest season will be dropping in a little over a months time on June 13th.

Star Wars the Acolyte
And now the final trailer for this week and coming in on Star Wars day for this year is taking us to a galaxy far far away and really taking us back a long, long time ago as we are going back to the beginning of a legacy and mystery as we have an all new trailer for the new series of Star Wars The Acolyte. In this series, it is set a century before the events of The Phantom Menace where it follows a former Padawan reuniting with their former Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes and murders of felloe Jedi's but soon discover the forces that they will confront will be more sinister then they ever anticipated. Now this series has seen some backlash that is from the usual group that complain when there is a sense of diversity or is more of a main focus lead with Women that they will complain it is ruining their stuff but in reality they are overblowing the concept when in my opinion this looks really interesting and very cool and I look forward to checking this out when the series premieres with a 2 episode start in a months time on June 4th.

News of a mixed variety of tricks

The Hunt will begin eventually
Now we start off the news stories with a small little news story which will be delving onto the change of a release date for an upcoming project. Now it is not a film that has been delayed out of the year but close to it and this comes in the form of the upcoming Sony Marvel film of Kraven the Hunter. Now initially the film was planned for release on August 30th of this year (after initially planned for release on October 6th last year) but is now being delayed by about 3 and a half months to December 13th of this year. Now it is unclear for the reason why the film is delayed but is is also going to be releasing now in a very tough competition period as it is now taking the spot of the Karate Kid (which has also been delayed by 5 months to may 30th 2025) but it is also going to have some stiff competition with it releasing the same weekend of Lord of the Rings War of the Rohirrim, a week later will be going up against Mufasa, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and the new Jordan Peele film and 2 weeks after the upcoming sequel to Moana so it may be another concerning box office for this shared universe that has been a mixed bag of opinions in reception and box office but it could surprise and be the best of the series, but I guess we will find out when the film releases just before the Holiday season.

But what are your thoughts on this film being delayed and do you see this as being a good thing or a bit of a mess and will it get delayed again? Let me know your thoughts are down below.

Scooby-Doo where the drama you fool
Now the next story is bringing up a new take on a series that has been in the public discussion as of late but not for the most positive reason (but it has nothing to do with that other series) as we are talking on a new adaptation for a large streaming service. It has been discussed for the last few days that Netflix may be receiving an all new live action tv series based on the sleuthing kids and the talking dog of Scooby-Doo. Now it has been possibly worked on from the executive producer of Riverdale from Greg Berlanti (who also worked on some of the CW superhero shows as well) as well that the show has a concept of being written by Josh Appelbaum (Mission Impossible Ghost Protocal, Michel Bay Ninja Turtle films, Citadel) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle / Next Level, Venom). Now it is unclear of if it will bring a massive change of appeal as it can cause a fair amount of discussion for 2 reasons. first can come down to the likes of the concern that it may become like a Riverdale situation where it can be appealing from the start of the show, but as time goes on it got a bit over the top in its concepts and executions and a bit of a tiring outcome (it can be similar to their Sabrina series that was very well liked though have heard the ending fumbled it a little). And the other issue is mainly with the mixed appeal of another mature version of Scooby Doo series due to the other mature series out now that is Velma (and going off of what I have heard of season 2 it is all over the place) that it can bring some concern but I am sure it is early days and we can give it a chance before you can judge the outcome. If there is one thing that everyone is hoping for with this project it is that we see the return of the cast from the original live action films, in particular with Matthew Lillard to come back as the form of Shaggy, so I guess we will find out more as the development is made.

But what are your own opinions of a new adaptation of Scooby-doo in the form of a live action series and do you think it will work and I would like to know what is your favourite version of the talking dog? Let me know down below and let us discuss it there.

We gonna defeat the heartless in many forms of films
Now the next story for this week is delving into talking about a new adaptation in the world of video game adaptations, in particular a series that has more spin offs with the most random of names before a new entry of the franchise of a normal numbered one gets released. Now we have seen a lot of crossovers on video games over the many years from the likes of the big fighting games like Super Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat vs Dc, Marvel vs Capcom and even to non fighting games like Playstation Move Heroes, Crash Purple, Spyro Orange and Lego Dimensions, but it is a series that has started out as a crossover with one of the biggest film companies in the world and one of the most popular JRPGS franchises in the world which we are discussing about today as it has been confirmed that we are getting a new film adaptation of the video game series of Kingdom Hearts. Now if you are unaware of what the series of Kingdom Hearts is about, you play as Sora, a young kid with big shoes who becomes mixed up with a selective group of Disney characters such as Donald and Goofy and visiting many films they have created in the past as well as crossing over with some characters from games like Final Fantasy, The world ends with you and many others and with the power of the weapon of the Keyblade to help save the worlds from the army known as the Heartless. The series has been around for about 2 decades now and has spawned 13 games in the franchise with 3 main titles and multiple spin offs (with a 4th main title in the works) and it has been a discussion for a bit of time that initially started as a planned tv series but has now been confirmed to be made into a film.

Now it is unclear as of now what form it is going to be as it started as a animated film but now some rumours are starting to also pop up about it being a live action / CGI mix similar to space jam, who framed roger rabbit and Rescue rangers, but I guess we will have to see what the outcome is of the planned form for the project. I am sure if this series is successful it will not be long before we get a Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep of 358 1/2 days of dream drop distance rebrushed remastered, deluxe DX film (which will come before a proper sequel to the film).

But what are your own thoughts about the likes of a film adaptation of a Kingdom Hearts film and do you see it as a live action film, animated or a mix of both? Let me know what your thoughts on it all down below in the comments below.

you wanna get paranoid with the paranormal?
Now the final story for this week is delving into the world of the supernatural that also ties a little into a classic tale found here many years ago on the information superhighway in the realm of YouTube as we are talking on the form of a adaptation of a internet mystery. Now we have seen a few concepts from the internet being made into stories with some success with Zola and Lights out, a mixed discussion like Skinamarink and one that really missed the mark in the form of Dear David, but this new one is talking on a niche series that has a bit of a mystery to the outcome end of the project that has appeared in mass discussion from social media in the last few years and comes in the discussion of a series known as Paranormal Paranoids. The series was a ghost hunting group on YouTube that followed four friends of David, Peter, Laura and Riley as they explored some of the spooky mysteries of their hometown of Ohio that saw a resurgence of the mystery of what happened to the videos and series as well as the group after a very cryptic ending left things uncertain but now it seems to be the case that they are going to build upon that mystery as it was announced that we are getting a film based on this project known as Shelby Oakes. The focus for the story for this project will be about Mia, Riley's sister who has been frantically looking for her sister after she disappeared at the end of her last tape of her and her group and as the obsession to finding her grows she begins to think that the imaginary demon Riley saw when she was younger may be more real then she thinks. Now what we do know is of 2 names involved in the development of the project with the first being this is being written, produced and directed by YouTuber and reviewer of Chris Struckmann and the most recent new edition is the inclusion of master of tension and horror of Mike Flanagan (creator of Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, Midnight Mass) who will be joining as an executive producer.

Now sure there can be concern of the likes from it being directed by a YouTuber but it has shown that some creative people can come from there like the planned film based on the Backrooms came from the YouTuber who created it as well as one of the best reviewed horrors of Talk to Me was created and directed by 2 YouTubers, so it can turn out well. Now it will have to be seen whenever this project does come out but once I do hear anything I will update in a later piece. (side note if you want to check out the project yourself you can find the series online with the channel Jesstheparanoid or from the breakdown from Reignbot or Night Mind)

But what are your thoughts on a film based on a mystery of a Youtube rabbit hole and do you see it as turning out as a success or a failure? Let me know what you think of it all down below in the comments.

With all of that this brings us to the end of episode 62 of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you enjoyed listening to my content as always. Let me know on your thoughts of all new releases, thoughts on the trailers and the opinions of the news stories for this week and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday doing many great things and I will see you's all in the next piece :)
