Weird Mind News Room Episode 83: Sept 23rd-29th
*building a city with music in mind*
Hello to all of you wonderful, beautiful peoples on the Information Superhighway to the 83rd edition of my weekly series of talking all things media of Weird Mind News Room, where this week we have quite the hefty amount of New releases, a fair amount of trailers and quite a selection of very small stories making a lot of news all in one. So lets not waste time on introductions and lets talk all things media from this week
New releases of Magnum opuses.
Movies
Megalopolis
The first of the new releases for this week is a film that has been 40 years in the making from a director that has been known for creating some of the finest pieces of film media and after countless issues getting things off the ground, Francis Ford Coppola is back again with the massive passion project apply titled Megalopolis. The new film will see a clash of concepts become a focus between Cesar Catilina, A genius artist who seeks to leap into a Utopian, Idealistic future and his opposition of Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests and partisan warfare to rebuild the city after an unexpected disaster brings them to clash in concept. Reception to the film has been a little divisive since the release of the project back at the film festivals with praise to the cast and performances, the concept and the visuals, however the biggest issues that have come from it is the focus of story and morals and some things becoming very confusing to follow over its 2 hour runtime with a lot of conflicting reviews with some as high as 8-9s to as low as 3-4s, but if you want to see how this whole passion project comes together then you can catch this new film out now in cinemas.
Never Let Go
The next film to be released from this week is taking the audience deep into the woods where things may seem calm from face value but in reality seem more sinister then at first glance as we have the new thriller horror film of Never Let Go. The plot is set in a period where an unspeakable evil has taken over the world and wiped out most of humanity except for a mother and her 2 sons with their only form of protection being their house in the woods and strong bond. Needing to stay connected at all times (which includes by rope connected to the house) they must cling to one another and never let go. However, when one of the boys starts to question if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival. Reception to this new thriller has been a bit mix to just keeping it to decent with praise to the performances, questions it raises and the tension and fear, with most critiques stemming to the convoluted outcome and the heavily debated opinion of the themes and questions of the ending that may be different to other audiences (according to some screenings with Q&A's with main star Halle Berry) but if you want to find out and answer these question you ay end up having then you can catch this new film now in cinemas.
Wolfs
On the first of the streaming based films for the week that initially was supposed to come out in cinemas last week is seeing 2 big name stars from action and serious film pieces teaming up for the job of being hired to take care of business and to clean up some messes as we have recieved the all new film from Jon Watts, Clooney and Pitt with Wolfs. The film follows a pair of professional fixers (Clooney and Pitt) who clean up any mess or issues that may arise from client calls who are forced to work together on a job when they would prefer to operate as lone wolfs but its not going to always be that easy. Reception to the film has been decently recieved with praise for the comedic nature of the film with the likable charisma of the main leads bickering like an old married couple, though the film falls in the usual aspects of similar films from the past, but if you want to check out this new film with 2 great leading men then you can catch this film out now on Apple tv+.
Hellboy the Crooked Man
The next of the films is surprisingly you may not realize but we have a film based on a comic book character and we have seen this form of a character already adapted 3 times in the last 20 years, but the demon detective is back again with a new face and new mission in the all new film of Hellboy The Crooked Man. The film will follow Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent who find themselves stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia where they soon discover a community of witches led by a local devil who has a form of connection to Hellboy's past. Reception of this film from the small amount of reviews is a little bit mixed but more on the negative side that while they praise the efforts of being more small scale horror and the performance of Jack Kesy as the titular character, the film is just lacking in a lot of substance to really appeal to many fans of this character, but if you want to check it out for yourself then you can check this film out now in cinemas with it releasing in the US on VOD next week.
Will and Harper
The final film for this week and the only documentary based film on the list is a film that will see an iconic face in entertainment and comedy travel across the country with an old friend that has had a life changing reality happen to them and in most case will see a divide of opinion to many that watch it as we have the all new documentary of Will and Harper. The film will follow the partnership of actor Will Ferrell and Harper Steele who both started and worked together for many years on SNL and some of Ferrell's big film characters and have had a strong bond since then, however back in 2021 during the pandemic Harper sent an email to Will and many friends in the industry that they would be transitioning from a Man to a woman and the film follows them on a cross country road trip to learn to find themselves, the change and how learning to accept and feel comfortable with who they are on the life altering journey. Reception to the documentary film has been very highly praised with the focus on the topic at hand, the comedy and the real tone nature it takes it in instead of it feeling overly staged. Sure I know the case that people will have their opinions about the topic of Transgender treatment and the concept itself but its understand that not everyone is going to have the same opinion as long as you can respect others for the choice in a valid manner on both sides (and less demonizing them) but if you want to head on this journey yourself, then you can catch this new documentary now on Netflix.
Tv Shows
Mr McMahon
The only tv series based release for this week is taking a deep dive into the world of hard contact sports but looking at the behind the scenes aspects of it all and at the one that is pulling the strings of the operation as we delve into the legacy and drama of the man that created an empire in the miniseries of Mr McMahon. This miniseries will focus on the career and legacy of one Vince McMahon and how he made the concept of the WWE a massive global franchise while also looking at some of the darker and more corrupt power that he created from the past from interviews and archive footage. Reception to this miniseries has been Modestly decently recieved with praise on the insight of the man who made wrestling a massive success and the dark side of him but some see it as being a bit too safe in its grilling of the man and barely scratched the surface of his corruption and dark elements. But if you want to catch it for yourself then you can watch the full miniseries now on Netflix.
Video games
Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
Now we have the games for this week and we shall start with a game that is not another rehash or a new remake or remaster but instead an all new title in a long running beloved franchise where it now makes sesne on the title of the game as after a very long time since they appeared in the main lead role, the princess of Hyrule is off on her own quest to save her kingdom with the all new game of The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. In this new adventure, you will take on the role of Princess Zelda for the first tie in a mainline game (unless you count the CDI games) as you go on a quest to restore Hyrule and rescue Link from the corrupted tears across the land with the power of Tri Rod, a magical artifact provided by the fairy Tri in order to create elements of echoes and armies to fight by your side and restore the kingdom back to its fully glory. Reception to the game has been very highly praised with the love of the return to classic Zelda perspective and the unique creativeness of the recent 3D Zelda's and her playing as the title character for the first time, though some item management and elements of combat are a little messy but not overly much of an issue and if you want to go on a new quest, then you can play this new game now on Nintendo Switch.
Epic Mickey Rebrushed
The first of the 2 remasters that I will be delving into this week is a game that I loved playing when I was a little bit younger that took a iconic character that was known for bright colours and adventure, was about to take on a very darker and grim quest armed with the power of the brush as we have recieved the remaster of Epic Mickey Rebrushed. The game will follow the 2010 Wii original where you play as Mickey who after a mishap with a magic paintbrush in Yen Sid's lair created a corrupted creature known as the Blot who send our hero into a place called Wasteland, a once magical world for forgotten toons corrupted by the Blots power and with the power of the magic paintbrush, Mickey sets off on a quest to save wasteland, restore peace and maybe learn of some long forgotten faces along the way (including a certain lucky rabbit). Reception to the remaster has been very well recieved with praise to the fixes of the previous version of camera and some gameplay controls as well as the most visually updated and appeal visuals, though some elements like the morality system and some framerate issues has earned some critiques from some publications. All I know is I am looking forward to reliving a childhood gaming classic (to me) real soon and you can play it now yourself on Nintento Switch, PS4/5, XBone / Series X/S and PC.
Lollipop Chainsaw Repop
So the next game remaster is technically one that has released about 2 weeks ago, however due to the likes of the game being somewhat marketed poorly, I was thinking it was releasing this week so I am keeping it as such, but its time to rev up the chainsaws and grab some sweet treats as instead of saving the cheerleader and the world, you cut out the middle man and the Cheerleader is taking over to save the world from a zombie outbreak with the new remaster / remake of a James Gunn collaborated game of Lollipop Chainsaw Repop. This game will see you play Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who on her 18th Birthday, must take things into her own hands when a sudden zombie outbreak occours and with a chainsaw and other weapons in hand and her boyfriend's sentient decapitated head attached to her waist, she will hack and slash her way through this ordeal, stop this outbreak and get it all done in time for her birthday celebrations later that evening. Reception to this remaster has been a little more mixed, with praise to the revival to the rare PS3/ X360 game for modern consoles, the performance issues and some aspects of gameplay and combat are a little messy and buggy and may not be in the most functional state, but if you want to cheer you way through the zombie hordes (and not pay a heavy amount for the original game versions) then you can play this game now on Switch, PS5, Series X/S and PC now in digital form (physical is available in some way) with a PS4 and XBONE version releasing in November.
EA FC25
The last one is one I am not going to waste time on as 1, you know what to expect and 2, have no interest in the title and have rambled on New releases long enough as its that time of year to hit the pitch with the newest entry of EA's flagship sports series with EA FC 25. The new game will have all your favourite elements like the previous title of football, ultimate team and new elements like Rush Mode and other online elements to play with friends around the world. Reception to the title has been well recieved with praise to some of the new features like the rush mode, though many are starting to tire of the overplayed formula to the series, but if this is what you wait for every year and not ply much else then you can plat this new game now on PS4/5, XBone/Series X/S, Switch and PC (I'll stick with the other games thanks).
Trailers full of surprises
Red One
To start off the trailers from this week is something that you are probably still thinking it is a little early to be talking on said subject but we have a new festive film on the horizon with quite the array of big name stars giving a new take on the festive Jolly fat man in the big red suit as we have recieved a new trailer for Red One. The film will see Santa Claus (or as he is codenamed Red One (J.K Simmons) be kidnapped by a dastardly villain on the eve of the holidays. In order to restore Balance, an ELF (short for Extremely Large and Formidable (Dwayne Johnson)) operative joins forces with the world's most accomplished tracker (Chris Evans) to help find the Festive icon and help save Christmas from Catastrophe. So the likes of this project has been in the likes of supposed to have already released last year but I guess it was affected due to the likes of the Strikes to affect the marketing and its now push from streaming to big screen, but I do hope that if its the same director who gave us those last 2 Jumanji films then I am all for hope that this may turn out good but I guess we will have to see when this film releases into cinemas on November 8th.
Thunderbolts*
The next trailer to hit the internet this week was one I was actually expecting more to see release in another month or so's time given the franchise its a part of is currently releasing a weekly series and another film is out before this, but I guess after a leak from D23 they decided to throw it to the wild as a new group of unlikely characters from the wider MCU will be forced to team up whether they like it or not as we have gotten the first trailer for the new team of Thunderbolts*. The film will see an unlikely odd team up of Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, Ghost, US Agent, Taskmaster and Bucky Barnes as well as another guy named Bob, being forced to team up together to take on mission for the American Government with it possibly being a ploy that if they are killed on the mission, it would not be a massive affect. So the likes of this film has been a mixed array of opinion to many for the last little while and this gives an element of the MCU equivalent of the Suicide Squad but from what I got of the first trailer, I think it looks pretty decent, a bit gritty and action packed and I guess we will see how that will play out and get more of a plot soon enough when the mission will be hitting the big screen from May 2nd Next year.
Gladiator 2
The 3rd trailer from this week is delving into focus of the realm of battles, bloodshed and asking the Question of Are you not entertained as after a 20 year long gap and attempt of some mad cap original sequel concept, Ridley Scott is taking us back to the day of the roman empire and arena conflict as we have recieved a new trailer for the sequel to Gladiator. The sequel's story will follow Lucius, the former heir of the Roman Empire, who becomes a gladiator after his home is invaded by the Roman Empire, led by General Marcus Acacius, during the reign of the co-emperors Caracall and Geta and will fight his way to restore his honor and his home from what was taken. So I think with the likes of the first trailer they had shown for this was a bit more of a weird tonal aspect as it was a bit too upbeat and comical at times (which didn't help with the music choice for the trailer) but this one feels more of a closer tone of the original of the big spectacle that Scott is known for and this one has me more intrigued for this and hopefully the film will turn out well and we will see how it all comes together when it releases into cinemas on November 15th.
Sinners
We seem to be in the age of the creature of the night that is out for a bite as of late as the films on the undead king of vampires is taking the reigns and this is no exception as the next trailer is coming from acclaimed director Ryan Coggler and his film Collab star of Michael B. Jordan are about to experience that sense of horror as they have released the first trailer for their new film of Sinners. The film will follow a pair of twin brother (both played by Jordan) who have been trying to leave their troubled lives behind and return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. So the likes of this feels so different to his last film which was his focus on superheroes but this one does not give too much away, gives some hints of ideas, provides a fair sense of tension and gives a sense that things are not going to be so simple and things may be about to get spooky but I guess it will be worth to check out when this film will be making its release into cinemas on March 7th next year.
The Last of Us Season 2
So if you are unaware or may not be fully initiated but in the world of one of the most beloved video games, September 26th is known by many gamers as Outbreak Day, when the element of the cordyceps fungus had started to become a worldwide emergency and the beginning of the Apocalypse and from that day is when the series gets something new and exciting from the event and thankfully a big one just dropped as after much anticipation, we have finally gotten the first trailer for the upcoming 2nd season of the video game adaptation of The Last of Us. The plot of this season of course will follow the plot of the massive, critically acclaimed and heavily divisive sequel that will see some time jumps, new faces, romances, heartbreaks and other parts of survival as they will be delving into the massive story of that game and focus heavily on a different theme compared to season 1 where that was love and hope, this is about Hate and revenge. So its a case I cannot delve too much into the narrative as I am trying my best to avoid spoiling it but all I can say is that the visuals are looking great, I am very much hyped and I am all set to experience some very upsetting moments from this games narrative translated into a series and some new initiatives made for the series to expand on some other elements (and if its anything like the first season, especially episodes 3 and 5 then I am all ready to cry again watching this with the person I watch the first season with) and would recommend playing Part 2 if you haven't already. The series at the moment has no final release date but we can expect this series sometime in the first half of 2025.
Ballerina: From the world of John Wick
The final trailer out from this week is bringing us back into the world of hired assassins, well tailored suits and a lot of guns in this societal aspect hidden right under our noses as we have a new spin-off on the way from the world of John Wick with a new perspective on this world and getting out there for Revenge as we have recieved the first trailer for the new film of Ballerina. The film will take place in between Chapter 3 and 4 of John Wick and focus on Eve Macarro (Ana De Armas) a Ballerina-Assassin who trains under the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma and will use these skills and expertise hunt down those responsible for the death of her family and with the help of a certain few familiar faces including one Baba Yaga. So truth be told, the John Wick films just seem to get better and better and it is to say this series really revived that feel of close quarters action and gun fights really well while making it look cool in the process and so far from this trailer this looks like it is on that level and has some scenes that are badass (and another thing that someone I care a lot about will envison themselves as when we watch it) but I am very excited to see this when the film releases into cinemas on June 6th.
News to provide mass appeal
What is the state of play of PlayStation
So on the start of the weeks news stories we are delving into the world of video game news as coming in just a few days ago on Tuesday night when Sony has come along and announced the next broadcast of their own form of Nintendo Direct with the State of Play where they would spend 40 minutes going over some new content announcement and updates to the upcoming slate of games for the rest of this year and beyond into 2025. Now personally I felt this direct was ok, nothing really of note besides maybe 1 or 2 titles but I will give a quick rundown of all that was unveiled at the event.
So in most of the events they start off the event with the game that has been making their success as of the last few weeks and that is the critical darling that is Astro Bot, where they announced that the game will be getting some new free DLC later this fall that includes some new Astro bots to find and new levels and challenges to explore in this platforming delight and I will for sure be giving this a play through when I get the chance and it looks like more fun is on the way the system is needing that at this point. The next game was one that caught my attention in the format that it is made in with a new game of The Midnight Walk that is made in stop motion Claymation an it has a more corrupted Sackboy look meets Little nightmares and Tim Burton and it does look really fun to try out soon ad will keep an eye when it releases on PS5 and the VR option soon. The next game unveiled had a look of a new title of Hell is Us and focuses on a game that is a bit souls like in combat, the main character looks like Sam Bridges from Death Stranding and some of the main focal enemies look a bit like pre merge Spot but it looks like it could be worth a try when it releases in the near future.Next on the solely focused VR titles of the State of Play, we are heading into the near dystopian future and under the vast cities of USSR as we are returning to the popular Metro Series with Awakening. Now I am unsure where in the timeline this is set (either a prequel or one of the main games in the trilogy) but I guess we'll learn more about the lore when it drop on the VR systems on November 7th.Taking another form of a souls like game (I apologize if it sounds the same, they have a similar move structure) that has a look with a bit of a fantasy and tone of a Witcher series game, we have the new title of Archeage Chronicles which does look very detailed and full of life and action of this fantasy game and may be worth checking out sometime in 2025.Probably the most Awkward timing announcements from this presentation but they unveiled that the Pokémon type parody of Palworld has hit the PS5 on the day of the event and coming just nearly a week after the legal proceedings were filed by Nintendo about it all. It will have to be seen if there is an outcome to the whole ordeal but I guess we'll see how the success on the PS5 and the legal woes play out.Next was the unveiling of a remastered collection of the classic Lunar game on the original Playstation and those titles will be available to play from Spring of Next Year. The heroes in a half shell are getting a new additional updates to the Shredder's revenge game that will include some new bosses or additions to the game as well as some new soundtracks and music for the game to choose and play throughout the title releasing for the console on that same day. Then tying in with the highly anticipated 3rd Sonic movie coming this December, the upcoming release of the Generations remaster will include some movie tie in DLC for Shadow with the Edge Hog voiced by Keanu Reeves himself and that will be releasing a week before the film on December 12th (not sure if its paid DLC but will be included in the digital deluxe edition). The director of the upcoming Fantasian game gave a new look and gameplay at the upcoming title of Neo Dimension and given a confirmed release for the console of December 5th of this year.
Next on the presentation was a look at Bioware with the newest entry in the popular Dragon Age Franchise with the Veilguard with the group teaming up to take on a pair of dragons and sorcerers with a focus on combat gameplay. It does not look too bad and may be worth a try out when the game launches this Halloween on October 31st.
Then we got a tease that sounds like it was a sequel to control being announced but turns out it was the 2nd big DLC expansion for Last years Alan Wake 2 with the Lake House that may connect to that other game and is confirmed for release this fall (and included with the physical Deluxe edition coming out October 17th)Then if you ever wanted to become a famous bald man assassins with a barcode on his head then you are in luck as an all new VR form of Hitman is on the way this December with the world of Assassination collection letting us get up close and personal with his methods which looks goofy but worth a try it does release.
another blast from the past was getting their own HD remaster treatment as the Soul Reaver duology of Legacy of Kain was unveiled with the similar elements of being able to switch at ease from classic and HD look similar to The Tomb Raider trilogy remaster from earlier this year and will be worth a try out when this pack drops on December 10th.
The first of the many titles unveiled by Blumhouse Games was shown off with a new quick look at Fear the Spotlight which is taking the look and inspiration of the PS1 style game graphics and will be making a spooky tale worth a try when it drop on the console on October 22nd (just in time for Halloween).there was the basis of a fantasy based faming like sim unveiled with a new look at towers of Aghasba shown off that has some nice visuals and appealing aesthetic shown and worth a try when it comes out on PS from November this year with early access.Next was a brief little announcement of news based on Fortnite that local co-op play was coming to the LEGO Fortnite sector and then a new PS5 designed controller was announced and I feel it is doing a little too much in design (especially on a nice controller like the Starlight Blue) and both will be arriving later this year.Next they unveiled an all new look at the next entry in the Dynasty Warriors series with Origins of more 10000 to 1 gameplay hack and slash and looks like a good bit of fun and now it has been given an official release date of January 17th 2025 so look forward to that.It was not the only title given a release date announcement as after a bit of time, the next entry of the Monster Hunter series with Wild was given a new look at the story and gameplay and also provided many a release date as the hunt begins for the fans from February 28th next year.
The new title of stellar Blade got an announcement of new DLC with a photo mode, new outfits and also the confirmation that we will be seeing a crossover with the Nier: Automata series with both coming out later this year. They then gave a round announcements of PS Plus titles including Octobers free games of WWE 2K24, Dead Space Remake and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus. they also unveiled some classics for the higher price form including Legacy of Kain Blood Omen and the original Dino Crisis and that to coincide with Outbreak day, they put Last of Us Part 1 on the service from Thursday. I have to wonder what the selection process of the free month games are cause they can be some weird choices. After a bit of promotion and some speculation of the unveiling, they finally given a new look at the upcoming Lego game based on Horizon Adventures which has also provided a release date for the upcoming project with it now hitting this console as well as Switch and PC on November 14th (with exclusive costumes for the PlayStation version and likely Switch will get some as well).
It was not the only piece of Horizon News to be announced as it was confirmed that we are getting a remaster of the Original 2017 game and releasing on Halloween. Now personally I think this remaster is unneeded given the game has a PS5 port of the complete collection and looks great as is but I guess this is the new norm now.Wrapping up near the end of the event was the unveiling of 3 new colours for base plates and controllers for the slim PS5 including Indigo, Pearl and Teal. Most case they are available on October 3rd and most likely will be able to obtain them much easier then the scalper prices for the recently announced PS1 classic colour range.
they then showed off some supposed "updated" visuals of the PS5 pro for many games like Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy, Last of Us and many more and I am still thinking there is really nothing else new for the console besides being more expensive and having similar specs as a Series X at launch but that all was well and done and went into one final announcement.
But that wrapped up a pretty ok presentation. could've been better and was hoping for at least a look at a release date or gameplay for the Snake Eater remake or first footage of the Insomniac Wolverine game but I guess they are still too deep in development (or due to the TGS this week maybe) but I guess there will be more in the future. But let me know your thoughts below on any of the titles announced you are looking forward to and what you hoped to see from the event.
The first of the announcements is with the slight change of dates for the company I gave an in depth discussion about last week and that is with the company of Pixar. Now its not going to be another rant this week do not worry but we have a bit of an update in relation to 2 upcoming projects from the studio and the first is the unveiling of a new short series based on the world of Inside Out as it was announced back at D23 of a series known as Dream Productions and this week they gave the interwebs the first look at the series and the confirmation that the series will be releasing onto the streaming service from December 11th with all 4 episodes dropping at once. Now I know what you are thinking but you thought that another series from them was planned for release in December and you were correct as initially the new original series of Win or Lose was supposed to premiere on December 6th, but now they confirmed the series will be releasing a few weeks later from February 19th which is a bit of a shame but in all honesty I am fine with it and will give us a bit of time and anticipation for the next Pixar original of Elio in June so I can wait for more stuff from this studio.
Next on the release block is with some news about everyone's favourite British loving marmalade Sandwich eating bear of Paddington. So you may be aware but we have the release of an upcoming 3rd film for this character that is out in the next few weeks and I am very excited for this project as the first 2 films were such a delightful pair of movies and I have hope the 3rd will be just as well beloved, but it seems like that momentum is not slowing down as it sounds like even before the trip to Peru, we got confirmation earlier this week that we will be getting a 4th film in the works and also the confirmation of a TV series based on this version of the bear (given there is already an animated edition on Kids Tv). Now its early days for both of those concepts but they are eyeing for a 2027/2028 release window for both projects and if this new film and these 2 projects are just as entertaining and heartfelt as the first 2 then I am all for it and hopefully will find a nice send off point for the series and get to that level of overdoing it but more Paddington is very much needed in this world I think.
The last release date change or announcement has come in the form of the next entry in the long running series of the historical figure that protect the innocent while hidden in the shadows and that is of course with the Assassin's Creed series. We do know that the next title of Shadows was going to be set in the long requested era of Feudal Japan and it so far looks good (although racial discussions and other stuff has been rampant on social media groups as per usual) but it looks like it will be taking just a little bit more time as it was announced this week that the new title will be delayed from its initial November 15th Release date and now be releasing 3 months later on February 14th. The main reasons was to make it the best in the series as this time period has long been requested and they want to give it more time to polish and perfect the project which I can understand. Another reason may be due to the underperforming numbers for the recently released Outlaws but I feel it will pick up come the Christmas period with people buying games for presents and stuff so I will say that I think moving it to a quieter time period may help the sales just that little bit more but I can wait a little more time for this title in particular.
Next on the list of casting news is taking us to the other DC project that is known with a release date in the film side and that is with the Supergirl movie. So we have not heard much about this project besides the likes the film is coming out in late June 2026, being directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Ana Nogueira (who is also penning the screenplay for a Teen titans film) and it has casted its Supergirl in the form of Australian actress Milly Alcock and since then it has been quiet as it focused more on the characters more known cousin, until just this week when another casting was made for the film in the form of actor Matthias Schoeonaerts who has been cast in the film as the main villain of Krem. The likes of this character is known as Krem of the Yellow hills who is a Kingsagent and warrior skilled in swordsmanship and archery who kills the character of Ruthye Marye Knoll who becomes a companion to Kara and will be a form of a hunter. Now I think this seems like an interesting choice and I like the aspect of some unknown villains and characters getting their screen presence (which Gunn is known to do) and I look forward to seeing how this all plays out as while I am unfamiliar with the villain, the actor chosen has a decent build and choice so I will see how it all comes together.
The last announcement comes not from Marvel but from Amazon as we are talking about the upcoming final season of the Boy. Now the build up for the final season is going to be massive with how the finale of season 4 is building it to be and it seems like no one is safe but we also know that some new additions are still on their way and that is the case with this new cast announcement as we have a new addition in the form of Actor and Rapper of Daveed Diggs. Most known roles you may know of this actor was with the Broadway show of Hamilton, the tv series of Snowpiercer and voice work in the likes of Pixar's Soul, Disney's Zootopia and the live action Little Mermaid film. Now currently it is uncelar of who he will be playing in said final season of whether he is a civilian or a supe but I guess we will learn more as the final season develops and learn of his character and who he is playing soon.
Mindset animations, Charming little bears and a trip to Feudal Japan
So on the next selection of much more shorter stories, this next group fall in the category on talking on some of the new announcements of release date announcements, updates and some changes for 3 different aspects for all forms of media and we will delve into those announcements now
But what are your thoughts on these release date changes, are you looking forward to any of them in particular? Let me know what you think down below.
The passing of an acting royalty
So before we continue on with the remaining stories for this week, we do have one piece of sad news and it is the passing of another iconic actress in the industry and that was the acting royalty of Dame Maggie Smith. She has had quite the long established role in the industry of film, television and Broadway and through her wit and dramatic roles has earned her numerous accolades including 2 Oscars, 5 Baftas, 4 Emmy's, 3 Golden Globes and a Tony Award and known for many roles in the past including California Suite, A room with a view, Sister Act, Death on the Nile (1978) and so many other roles and most would know her for her role as Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter series and Violet Crawley in the acclaimed series of Downton Abbey. She passed away on Friday September 27th surrounded by family at the age of 89 and may this legend of stage and screen and British class Rest in Peace.
So lets start with the project that I have been bringing up in stories a few times for mainly this last month and that is to do with the upcoming DC project based on the lanterns series. As I mentioned in the past, there was a lot of speculation about the casting for the upcoming series with the focus on a much older Hal Jordan being a somewhat mentor for a young John Stewart and possibly Guy Gardener and many names were thrown around for Hal's role including Ewan McGregor, Matthew McConaughey and the front runner for a time of Josh Brolin. Now after he dropped out there was a bit of questionable speculation of who else may be rumoured with one other new edition was with Chris Pine but it seems now it has wrapped up as it has now been somewhat confirmed that they have casted the role of Hal Jordan and it is with the actor of Kyle Chandler. Now the name may not be recognisable but he has appeared in a few big named projects of the past including the acclaimed Friday Night Lights, Manchester by the Sea, Mayor of Kingston and the Spielberg, Abrams film of Super 8 so he has a fair bit of a decent filmography and in all sense he does have a distinct look with the comic character so I think he might do well. It won't be the end of the speculation of this series as Stewart still needs to be casted and the supposed frontrunner is with Arron Pierre but I guess we will see if this gets confirmed in the future and will update when it does.
New powerful beings getting the casting treatment
So moving on to a bit more of a lighter note, this next group of stories will consist mainly of some casting announcements for some upcoming projects and all of them are based in the realm of superheroes from DC and other forms of comic series and I will be given a rundown of those projects now.
But what are your thoughts on these casting announcements and who do you think Diggs is playing in the Boys. Let me hear your options below.
The last news story is a compiling of some weird aspects of news that will combine together in some regard from either announcements, updates and a rumour or 2 but could be some speculation but we will delve into those aspects now.
