Weird Mind News Room Episode 129 :August 11th - 17th
*music for a vacation that hopefully is not ruined*
Welcome back once again to you all to the newest edition of the weekly series found right here on the Information Superhighway with Weird Mind News room where this week in probably a more shorter week where we will be focusing on new releases, a few trailers and a bit of a hodge podge bit of news stories to come from this week so lets not waste time on the usual introductions and lets get into all things media for this week.
New releases that may work together
Movies
Nobody 2
So the first release of this week is taking the focus that in this day and age, not everyone is as normal as they seem but they can blend in easily to the normal society and in the case of this surburban man, he may look like nothing out of the ordinary, but he has a lot of deep secrets to it all and even when all he wants is to go on a nice break away from all the hassle, danger always finds a way to cross paths with him as after 4 years since the original sleeper hit released to the masses, we have finally recieved the release of the follow up to the action film of Nobody. The film will see workaholic assassin Hutch Mansell taking his family on a much-needed vacation to the small tourist town of Plummerville. However he will soon himself in the crosshairs of a corrupt theme park operator, a deep undercover smugglers cache, corrupt cops and a bloodthirsty Crime Boss and will need to hone his skills to take them down and enjoy his vacation after all. Reception on this follow up, similar to the original film has also got some well recieved reception with praise to the performances, cinematography and action scenes, though some of the story elements can be a little mixed and some issues temming to the main villain being disliked but seems like it is another appealing entry in a now franchise and if you want to check it out for yourself then you can catch this new film out now in cinemas.
Together
As for the 2nd film of this week, we all now the case of many forms of romance, that when you love someone, there is always that sense of things that in many times in a partnership that all you want is to be close with each other all the time, but in the case of this film itself, it may be taking that concept just a little bit too seriously and the result may be a little bit too gross in some form as we have the new film that is a bit of a romantic horror with the new film of Together. The film will follow Tim and Millie (Real life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie) who years into their relationship, find themselves at a crossroads when they decide to move to the countryside in the case to abandon all that is familiar to them in their lives except for each other to try and bring a sense of spark back to them. Soon with tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh. Reception on this new horror has garnered some very well recieved reception with praise to the concept, the performances, and the creepy body horror elements, though some critiques I have seem stem to some of the visual effects of the body horror from some CGI issues but still seems to be showing another strong entry in the horrors of this year, but if you want to check it out for yourself then you can also come together for a romantic horror now in cinemas.
Fixed
Now for a film that will be a case of questioning what is going on, a visual style that is somewhat not overly used and a concept that has been over 15 years in concept and development to the point where it may feel like everything has been put into this film, balls and all, as renowned animator creator Genndy Tartakovsky has returned with a film that is a possible passion project of his with his all new R-Rated film of Fixed. The film will follow Bull (Adam Devine), an average all around good dog who discovers he is going to be neutered in the Morning! As the gravity of this life altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventures with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his Balls! What could go wrong. Reception on the film was initally well praised but as the official release came about the film has seen a bit more of a mixed reception with praise to the 2d visuals and performance cast, though most seem to be against the aspect of the over reliance of sex and I am guessing on a lot of animated buttholes and Balls being present but it seems there is a bit of a film that is seen as the you'll love it or hate it type of film and if you are curious in checking it out, it is available now to watch on Netflix.
Materialists
The last of the films that we have for this week is in the focus of more in the area of a more romantic approach with some focus of a trio of leads that will appeal and see a focus if you are seen as one of the best when it comes to finding other peoples true loves in how it will come to deciding who she will end up with, as we have the newest film from Academy Award nominated director of Celine Song with her new film of Materialists. The film is set in New York and we follow Lucy Mason (Dakota Johnson) , a former actress turned professional Matchmaker and one of the best in the massive luxury-dating culture, where after being the best for matching others with their perfect match, will soon find herself in the midst of her own love triangle with deciding between what could be a perfect match (Pedro Pascal) and her not so perfect Ex-boyfriend (Chris Evans) who she may still hold some feelings for. Reception on the new film has garnered some well recieved reception with praise to its performances and charm, though the elements of the story and form may not be as strong as her original film of Past Lives, but it is still an enjoyable film overall with 3 attractive leads, and if you want to check it out for yourself and see if this is a match for you, then you can check it out now in cinemas.
Tv Shows
Alien Earth
As for the one tv show for this week, we have all heard about the concept idea that in this day and age that in space, no one can hear you scream, but it seems now in this series, that concept will be a little more close to home and I am sure in this case they will be able to hear you scream and in most case, it may be loud as after spending most of its time on the big screen and on the consoles, it will be time for it to take a jump to the small screen in the world of streaming as the popular series has the release of an all new series in the form of Alien Earth. Set about a century into the future and 2 years before the events of the original 1979 original, the film will see a large mysterious space vessel crash-landing on earth, where we will see a young woman and a rag tag group of tactical soldiers make a discovery that will now put them face-to-face with the planet's biggest threat. Reception on this new series seems to very very well recieved with praise to the story, setting, visuals and being a solid entry in the long running sci fi series and if you want to check it out for yourself then you can catch the first 2 episodes now on Disney+ with a new episode releasing every Wednesday.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2
As for the 2nd tv show for this week is that we may not know of things in our world that may have some sentience and could wipe us out and soo take over in our society, but in this case it is in the focus of some food that is all set to control life without the reign of us humans and in this case it will be time for a hefty serving of seconds if you dare so prefer as we have recieved the release of the 2nd season to the tv series based on the adult animated comedy of Sausage Party Foodtopia. The new season will see Frank, Barry and Sammy finding themselves exiled from Foodtopia and now will see them travel across the land and find themselves in a place known as New Foodlandia where "every food finds fulfilment", humans are now domesticated and everything is perfect, but maybe "too perfect" and soon a clash of societies is about to take place. Now reception on this new season seems to be so far a lot better recieved compared to the first season with more of a better structured story that is less focused on politics and more on the concept of the food based society, even if the case of a follow up and some of the raunchy humour can be a bit of here and there in opinion but could still appeal overall and if you want to grab a bit out of the new season, it is available to watch now on Amazon Prime.
Video Games
Drag x Drive
For the first of 2 games for this week, it is time for a new way to experience some new features of the console and that is done in the ways of strapping in and hitting the court to shoot a few hoops in this regards as we have the release of the new online sport based battle of Drag x Drive. The game will have you play a form of 3v3 Wheelchair basketball where you will use the features of the new Switch 2 Mouse controls to shoot hoops, battle it out and be the best of the best on the court. Reception on the title has seen a bit of a mixed response that while praise has been given to the functions of the controls and for being a strong representation of disabilities in sports, the game suffers from a bit of lacking content and for a sense of overworking the controls to a possible level of pain, but I am sure more will be added in due time and if you want to try it out for yourself then you can play this title now on Nintendo Switch 2.
Bendy: Lone Wolf
The last of the new releases for this week is in the focus of the project that continues in the expanding world all made and created with Ink and while we have seen the tales of an Ink Demon and we may have seen many forms of a certain twisted Angel, we do have a tall friendly face that will do whatever he can to survive as we are taking on the story focused with Boris in the new title from the world of Bendy and the Ink Machine with Bendy: Lone Wolf. In this top down survival game you play as Boris the Wolf as you leave the confines of your shelter in the studios of Joey Drew and go deep into the facility and find supplies and resources and also a way to escape while also making sure to keep yourself alive from any of the dangerous creatures and adversaries. Reception on this title seems to be very well recieved so far with it being a well made remake updated form of Boris survival and for being an interesting new take on the series, even if the length can vary in appeal and if you want to play it for yourself then you can play it now on PS4/5, Xbox 1/ Series X/S, Switch 1 and 2 and PC with a Physical version releasing later in October.
Trailers perfect for a vacation
One Piece Season 2
So the first of the traielrs that we have for this week is seeing the case that it will be soon time again to gather your merry crew and orepare to set sail across the high seas once again in search of a very special item that was hidden by the late great legend that everyone is hoping to obtain as after a bit of silence we have recieved the proper first look trailer for the 2nd season of the Netflix adaptation of One Piece. This new season will see Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew as they embark further on their journey as they enter into the Grand Line, where they will soon encounter new islands, new acquaintances, formidable enemies and a whole load of Legendary secrets. SO it is surprising to say the case that the original season was a success and one of the first for the streamer as every previous attempt at an adaptation to an anime on Netflix has not been the best and it seems like this one is giving a lot of love to the saga that may be retelling of a fair selection of episodes of the original series (a series that I will eventually get into at some point that I have promised someone that I will) and hopefully this will continue the success for this series in due time and I am sure we will see how it comes about when the new season sets sail onto Netflix sometime in 2026.
Only Murders in the Building Season 5
On the 2nd of the trailers for this week is one that I have been wondering and waiting to see some focus on some news and look into the next phase of focus and discussion in the case that it really seems like if you decide to take a trip to the Big Apple and you decide to stay at a particular Hotel or apartment complex, you are more then likely guaranteed to be a suspect or a victim to murder, as we are once again heading back to the Arconia and with the "Amateur" Podcast sleuths (well they seem 4 for 4 already) as we have recieved the trailer for the 5th season of the popular mystery comedy of Only Murders in the Building. The new season will see Charles, Oliver and Mabel find themselves looking to find a way to resolve the death of one of their beloved members of the Arconia with the death of the friendly doorman, and will focus on the themes of past vs present New York where the trio will discover a deeper divide between the storied city that they thought they knew and the New York evolving around them - one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge while the trio finds a way to solve the case of this murder. It is always so interesting in a way to see what will the next season do to evolve the story as each season has something new to evolve it with from humble beginnings, convicted of murder, a death on Broadway and Hollywood to now we get more in the focus realm of organised crime and a form of the Mafia is very interesting and now probably the biggest lineup of guest stars in a season is really appealing and I am all for tuning in for eavery episode to try and solve before the finale and just contradict ones self in the process and I am all for checking it out and you can as well with the new season releasing onto Hulu and Disney+ in under a months time on September 9th.
Marty Supreme
the 3rd story is in the focus of a new look at another famous face getting the story being told in an all new film or project and in the case of things that while the idea and career may not be seen as a major ordeal where you are from at first, with enough dedication and determination, they will prove that dreaming big will work out well as we have recieved a trailer for a new fictionalized take on a famous face with the new film of Marty Supreme. The film will tell the story of Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream that no one really respects, will go to hell and back in the journey of the pursuit of greatness and help to bring the appeal and high scale sport of Ping Pong to the masses of America. Now looking into the focus of this film from my understanding is that this is a bit of a fictional take on an actual sport star of the late Marty Reisman, who was a US world champion in the sport of Ping Pong and it seems like to be a case of giving someone's life a bit of a reworking to add more of a bit of life and tone to the person in focus, which I feel could be a little concern of feeling a bit too over the top and outlandish but sometimes it can work in adding a bit of flair and craziness to it all (and most other news I heard about this was for some reason Paltrow talking about them having a lot of on screen sex and questioned the use of an intimacy coordinator or something like that and I just think ok) but I guess we can see how this film will turn out as the film will be hitting its way into cinemas in the states on Christmas day and then a week later here on New Years Day.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 2
Now the last trailer is a case that yes we only saw the release of it last week but we have been given a trailer of what else is to come for the 2nd half of that season as I am of course talking on here about the trailer for the 2nd part of season 2 of the popular Netflix series based on the Addams Family with the series of Wednesday. This will of course continue the story of this 2nd season with Wednesday looking to stop the events of a dark premonition that she has witnessed in saving her roommate from a terrible fate as well as the strange goings on with her family and Nevermore Academy and look to solve it all, which will include a certain familiar face returning back from the original season. Now in all case I have yet to catch up on this first half but in all case I may hold off and wait until the full season is out cause I don't know how to feel on the likes of the splitting season into volumes on streaming and find it tedious when I feel best approach would be to just either release fully or do a weekly thing cause its just annoying I suppose but overall from this trailer it does not look too bad and will be well worth a watch and we will see by the release of the 2nd volume of this season in about 3 weeks time on September 3rd.
News that will be fixed as a perfect match
A story of delays, worlds in disarray, action in the war days, and ladies for the spy way
Now the only story that we have in focus for this week is with a selection of some smaller stories that all range from some reported release date changes, announcements, rumours and some other affair that have all been brought together in some form to discuss for this week and instead of multiple stories I may as well put them together as one, so lets dive into what was in focus of discussion for this week.
But what do you make of all of these stories, what do you feel of the Shrek delay and what is the reason for it, are you fine with the small delay for Running Man, would you watch a Rambo Prequel with Noah Centino, is the rumours and possible choices for this New Bond completely dumb or are you fine with them, will Deadpool appear in the new Avengers and would you watch a new take on World War Z? Let me know what you think down below
And with all of that, this bring the end of the 129th edition of Weird Mind News Room and I hope you enjoyed the ramblings (and much short ramblings) for another week. Let me know your thoughts on everything that was discussed down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday doing many great things and I will see you all in the next episode.
Take care, keep being you, signing off
Sam H :)
