*The last rite of passage is through music*
Hello again to all of you fine and wonderful people and all walks of life to the newest and 132nd edition of my weekly series of Weird Mind News Room where this week we are once again talking on a selection of media topics including a bit of a selection in New releases, A couple of trailers to choose from and a bit of some news to round it all up for the content in focus, so lets to talking on that and discuss about all things media that we have to talk on for this week.
Count your blessings with these new releases
Movies
The Conjuring Last Rites
Now the first of the new releases that we have for this week is seeing the case that we are heading into the colder and darker months that the season will be upon us real soon and in this case it seems like the most logical timing for the unspeakable nature of the horrors of the supernatural to occour and in the case with this first one it looks like it is set to be a case that the cases in focus could be more then fiction, as we return to the cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren for the case that made them quit the careers in the field as we have the release of The Conjuring Last Rites. With every entry of the series it is based on a true case that they have investigated with this taking place back in 1986 and following their infamous Smurl Case, which saw a family being tormented and other forms of threats and danger from a demon that was a presence in their home for more then a decade. Reception on this final mainline entry in the series has been mixed to modest at best with praise to the main leads of Vera Famiga and Patrick Wilson as Ed and Lorraine and for being a bit more of a better horror focus compared to the previous mainline, though the film is lacking in feeling the greatest in terms of overall final main story entry but may find an audience overall and if you want to see their final case then you can see it out now in cinemas.
Honey, Don't
Now for the 2nd of the films for this week is in the focus of a small town mystery, a deep conspiracy and a lot of chaos beginning to unfold but it will take a new detective with skill, class and raw sex appeal to solve this mystery and look damn good while doing it, as Ethen Coen is back again to bring the 2nd part of what he labels as the Lesbian B-Movie trilogy with the release of Honey Don't. The Film will follow Honey O'Donoghue (Margaret Qualley) A private investigator for a small town who gets herself delving deep into a mystery and series of strange deaths that are all seemed to be tied to a suspicious religious cult that is led by the sex crazed but persuasive leader Drew (Chris Evans). Reception on this 2nd entry is also a bit mixed but more on the lower appealing side that while the cast and performances, particularly of Qually's performance being the strongest, the film tries to show too much and gets buried in flashy violence and a bit of an overcomplicated story, though if you want to check it out for yourself then you can catch this film also out now in cinemas.
Tv Shows
The Paper
Moving to the tv shows for this week with the first bringing us back to the world of the mockumentary, documentary type series where many years ago a crew followed the working lives of a paper company in Scranton Pennsylvania that became a worldwide phenomenon and in this case we will be focusing on the use of that product in other means as we are heading a few states over to the focus on a new take on this series as we have the release of the new series based on the Office with The Paper. The series will focus on the same crew that made Dunder Mifflin a famous name in the world, take on their next task all the way in Toledo Ohio, where the crew will focus their efforts on a company known as the Toledo Truth-Teller, a historic but declining Midwestern that has seen itself trying to make a name in resurrecting themselves in the hiring of volunteer reporters and try to prove that they still have a chance in a changing world in how news is delivered. Reception on this new series so far has been well recieved with praise on the approach and charm that was seen present in the original US series of the Office and well liked performances and given that the series was already renewed for a 2nd season a few days before release, it looks like it could be another success in this aspect and if you want to read all about it then you can watch the full season now on Peacock in the US and on Sky and Now in the UK and Ireland.
Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17
For the 2nd of the shows for this week is a return back over to the states and heading to a small little bar that may not be the most classiest of joints but its the charm that comes for it, even if the people that run it are not the best people, as the owners of Paddy's Pub are back again for more misadventures with the release of the 17th season of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The season will see the gang get up to some more misadventures in their state of Philadelphia including becoming EMTs, becoming contestants on the Bachelor and even doing some community service as some substitutes for a little school known as Abbott Elementary and I am sure things will go wrong but this is expected with this group of people. Reception on this new season like the previous seasons is still well recieved with praise to the madcap stories and humour that comes from this group of terrible people and brings a lot of appeal overall and if you want to grab a drink, then the full new season is available to check out now on Netflix.
Video games
Hollow Knight Silksong
Now on the games we start off with the big one, a game that has been highly anticipated for the longest time, one that for a while people doubted as being real but after many long years and one valiant soldier posting about any news everyday, we have finally gotten the release of the all new DLC turned full title release to Hollow Knight with Hollow Knight Silksong. In this standalone title, you will take on the role of a character known as Hornet, the former Princess of Hollow Knight's fallen kingdom of Hallownest, as she is forced to explore the new land of Pharloom after being captured and taken there and a land described as being haunted by silk and song where she will have to take on a deadly pilgrimage to ascend to the lands peak and discover the ancient secrets tied to her nature and past along the way. Reception on this title has not seen the full reviews yet but from the audience reactions has been critically acclaimed with praise to the visuals, gameplay, story and being a worthy follow up to the original game and is seen as being a proper game of the year title and if the likes of every digital store for the game crashed on the launch is any indication, it will be a very strong outcome and if you are up for a new battle you can play it now on PS4/5, Xbox One/ Series X/S, Switch 1 and 2 and Mac and PC with a physical version releasing in 2026.
Chronos the new dawn
As for the next 2 entries are a bit more of a darker in tone form and this next game will see a fair bit of darkness descend across the land and a dangerous curse of the past may affect the present but to resolve the future it may come down to you to find the solution, as we have the release of a new horror in focus with the new game of Cronos the New Dawn. In this game you play as the Traveler who works as an agent for an enigmatic organization known as the Collective to serve in a mission known as the Vocation where he must survive the dangers of a future apocalyptic wasteland to find points to travel back in time to Poland in the 1980s in order to extract selected people who did not survive the Change, a cataclysmic event that turned humans into monsters known as Orphans. Now reception on the title seems to be decently recieved with praise to the setting concept and some of the mechanic being a bit of a highlight, the game does seem to suffer some of the issues of some clunky combat, the story not hitting a very strong high note (but still being solid) and a few technical issues and feels a little close to Dead Space and Resident evil without breaking too much in tone but I am sure the horrors will appeal and if you want to check it out for yourself then you can play it now on PS5, Xbox One / Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC.
Hell is Us
The 3rd and last main full game release of the week is seeing the case that we have been told many times before that war never changes, but in this case the ideals of said war have begun to manifest itself into making something much more terrifying and make misdeeds or things from your past become more present and haunt you over and over, but in this case, it may be able to find a way to restore the lands and find answers along the way as we have a new horror based action adventure (or possible soulslike title) with the new game of Hell is Us. In this game, you take on the role of Remi, an ON or Organized Nations Peacekeeper who goes absent without leave and ventures into his old home of the war torn country of Hadea in order to find his parents that he was taken from as a child, only to discover that the region has been infested with supernatural beings with Time manipulation following an event known as The Calamity. Reception on this title has also seen some midestly well recieved reception with praise for its non linear approach, story, puzzles and environment, even if the likes of the combat can feel like nothing new and may be a little frustrating to navigate with no hud or maps, but it may find an appeal overtime and if you want to play it for yourself then you can play it now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Indiana Jones and the great circle: Order of Giants
And the last release of the week is not much of a full game but rather an all new expansion as we return to the past and equipped with the iconic hat, jacket and trusty bull whip, we are returning to the title of Indiana Jones and the great circle with the first story DLC of The Order of Giants. The story takes place during the middle of the original games title and will see Indy help a man named father Ricci uncover a lost Roman Artifact deep under the streets of the city but will soon lead to encountering dangerous traps, puzzles and a dangerous cult of Mithras and must find a uncover the lost treasure and uncover the secrets hidden below the surface. Reception to this new expansion seems a little mixed to positive that while the story campaign, twists and turns and final fight was well liked, most issues and complaints is that the expansion is a bit overpriced at €20 for a short DLC chapter that could've been more affordable but besides that most other stuff of the expansion has been well recieved and if you want to play it, you can get this DLC from the original Great Circle game now on PS5, Xbox series X/S and PC and will also see a release on the Switch 2 sometime next year.
A passage reading of trailers
Marvel Zombies
Now on the first of the trailers for this week is a return to the world of Superheroes in this case but in this particular instance, it is not in the way that you would expect it to be and continuing on from a story that was first established in another series in mind, we have to wonder who will save us from our heroes when they become apart of the Undead, as we have recieved the trailer for the upcoming R-Rated animated series with Marvel Zombies. Based on the Zombies episode of the first season of What If? this mini series will see a plague turn most of the worlds population, including the Avengers into zombies. This will follow a group of survivors as they discover the key to bring the end of the zombie plague, which leads them to risk their lives travelling across a dystopian landscape and fighting superpowered zombies to save the world. So it was a long time ago but I do remember the episode and it was a bit tame in comparison to this new take on the series and I wonder if there is elements that will be retconned or applied later but from the brief teaser focus of this trailer, this looks really cool and also giving us another character that is well due an introduction into the MCU but I am all for checking this out (and hopefully will also get an extension from this overall narrative) and we are not too far from release as it will be rising from the dead onto Disney+ in 3 weeks time on September 24th.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
Now the 2nd trailer for this week is the continuing story that also relates to the concept of a virus that has taken over the certain populace of a land and the case that as the years have gone on and things have evolved that while the world around the quarantine zone lives on, this world has evolved and the story established just recently will continue as we have the 2nd part of the planned new trilogy in focus as we have the trailer for the film of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. The film will continue the story first brought up in 28 years later where we see Spike being inducted into Sir Jimmy Crystal's group of acrobatic killers in a post apocalyptic England ravaged by the Rage Virus. Meanwhile Dr Ian Kelson uncovers a deadly discovery that will have consequences that could alter the world. Now in the case of the original entry of this trilogy, the concept of the film was well established though a little overtime I feel that some elements feel a little mixed in some aspects which include a little of the ending which seems to be a major aspect of this follow up, though there is a case of hoping there is more of a focus structure in this that the first part looking at now can see the somewhat 2 different film structure but from the aspect I will give this a chance and in all cases could turn out really good again and may appeal to me back on that first part but I will guess we'll see by the return to this temple in cinemas from the 16th of January next year.
Wuthering Heights
Now to take a break from the horror aspect for the moment and looking more in the area of a bit more of a steamy elements, we are taking a new approach to a well known and beloved piece of literature and given it an all new take for the big screen, though it seems from this one it is not in the approach that you may be familiar with and from a director with a unique and outlandish style approach as Saltburn Director Emerald Fennell is looking to bring a lot more heat of the moment passion with the release of the first trailer for her take on the classic novel of Wuthering Heights. The film will be based on the novel and will tell a gothic erotic phycological drama where tragedy will strike when Heathcliff falls in love with Catherine Earnshaw, a woman from a wealthy family in 18th Century England and soon a steamy romance of passion will begin to take shape. So what I know on the likes of this novel was seen as being a very controversial one when it was first written almost 200 years ago and over the years it has seen the case of many adaptations and from the looks of this one it is going for more of a new take in a very steamy based romance love story that while some elements of the unrequited love is present in the original novel, this seems to be hinting more of an all out smutty affair. Now I have heard the case as well that the film had early test screening and has seen to be a bit mixed with some questioning the approach taken by the director and feeling now related well of the novel (and the case the trailer is a bit too steamy and a case about Elordis casting as the character he plays is presumed to be of a different race or nationality then being white but I am not getting into that) but I am sure there will be some that are for this adaption and some against but I guess we can see by the films release in cinemas on Valentines Day next year.
007 First Light
Now on the only video game related trailer we have for this week that in the focus that while the film side of this franchise is finding itself in constant discussions as to who is who and who will be helming the project, on the game side we have had a focus of a new take on this iconic spy that has been in development for a little while now where instead of going forward, we are going back to where it all began for his career as the studio behind the Hitman games have brought with them a trailer for the all new take on the Bond series with a new trailer for 007 First Light. This game will have you in the role of a much younger James Bond (albeit not in connection of James Bond Jr) who in this will be portrayed as 26 years old and an inexperienced MI6 agent, who is tasked on a mission that if completed and not taken out in the process will be able to obtain a iconic 00 moniker and a truce License to kill. So I remember when this title was first announced and when I saw it was with the studio behind the recent Hitman Trilogy, my initial approach was that this will be a bit of a similar style of game but from the looks of things it will be a mix of that and a fair bit of Uncharted sprinkled in for good measure and from the recent gameplay shown, it actually looks like it could be a really well good 007 game and one we haven't gotten in over a decade since the last (also this new Bond is voiced by an Irish Man so big approval on my end) but I am sure it will be well worth a trying out when the game will be debriefed and released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC from March 26th next year.
Smiling Friends Season 3
Now the 2nd animated show of this week is in the case of wonder if you are feeling down and wearing a bit of a frown and need some cheering up and you don't know how, then there is a pair of odd looking characters in mind that will go out of their way to make sure you turn that frown upside down, as after a bit of a shorter wait from the last season, it is time for new adventure in this strange and colourful world as we have recieved a trailer for the 3rd season of the popular Adult Swim series of Smiling Friends. The series will continue on the misadventures of the gang of the Smiling Friends headquarters including the likes of Charlie and Pim going on some journeys to help make people smile and he case of even Allan, Glep and Mr Boss getting in on the fun and get the likes of all of the spirit gems , Mr Frog may run towards the camera and it may all end with a fight against a witch but you never know with this series. It is always a case with this series in particular that ever since it first released the pilot about 5 years ago, the series has seen a lot of appeal and just felt fresh and works in the sense of humour and the way they just talk feels a fair bit more authentic of how people will just talk or delve into random tangents and just help to appeal more and I am always up for more adventures with this goofy gang and could really use a smile right now more then ever and it is not too long away from release as the new season will be released on Adult Swim in about a months tome from the 5th and 6th of October.
The Black Phone 2
As for the last of the film trailers that we have for this week is in the focus of a follow on where the case that what was seen as an urban legend and a known tale of someone very dangerous may have been long ago and his presence will no longer cause a threat in any form from an unfortunate incident that the likes of the trauma will never leave a person, but what happens when even with the demise of that trauma, the calls come back in a more sinister way and the nightmares begin again as the grabber is back once more with the release of the 2nd trailer for the upcoming sequel to the Black Phone. The film is set 4 years after the original and will see Gwen, now 15 years old, being haunted by nightmares where she is receiving calls from the Black Phone and some disturbing visions of three boys being stalked and killed at a Winter camp. Accompanied by her older brother, Finn, they head to said camp to solve that mystery, only to once again confront the Grabber - a killer who seems to have grown even more powerful in Death. It is a case that I enjoyed the original that I know was a case of being started as a short story and evolved into a full supernatural form and I wondered for a while what would work in the likes of a sequel of feeling like it was a copycat or maybe he did survive but from it seems to be going more now in the realm of it being like a Nightmare on Elm Street form with the grabber being a Freddy Kruger stand in in some way but I am sure it may appeal in that aspect but I am sure we will see how it all comes about as the film will be making a call into cinemas in just over a months time on October 17th.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story
Now the final trailer for this week is the focus in case that over the years that we have seen many different iconic killers in these slashers or horror thrillers from the unsettled form of Norman Bates in Psycho, the chainsaw wielding leatherface in Texas Chainsaw, or even the unsettling tone of Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs, but what if it was the case that most of these people were inspired by one particular killer who methods and creations were quite unspeakable, well following the success of the stories on Dahmer and the Menendez Twins, we are taking a focus to the most twisted one yet as we have a trailer for the next story in the Monsters series with the Ed Gein story. This new story will focus on the twisted reality of convicted murderer and suspected serial Killer of Ed Gein (Charlie Hunnam) back in 1950s Rural Wisconsin who was well known as the killer that turned his victims organs and skin into twisted furniture. Now the series I feel makes a lot of sense to focus on different killers and twisted killers over the years and I feel this guy is truly one of the most fucked up and stomach turning as I have seen some of the works that he made of his victims and they are messy and disturbing and I will question if I can stomach this one or if its more in the psychological aspect of all of this instead but I guess we will see in due time (and hopefully we will see some female serial killers or murderers in later seasons) but we will see how this will all come about in due time with this season releasing in just under a months time on October 3rd.
News to bring you back to the light
Releases of Clowns, robots, mysteries, rumours and heroes
so Initially the first news story was going to be a one and done focus but I split it off into 2 for the reason the other form has a lot connecting in one way and that is the case of this story will focus primarily on some release dates from announcements, delays changes or updates to some other projects, but lets delve into this now and see what is in focus.
But what do you make of all of these release date changes, is there any you are the most excited for ad who do you see taking over the reigns for the Alien Romulus Sequel? Le me know what you think down below in the comments.

As for the 2nd stories of this week all have something in common and that is the focus that they all discuss about video game adaptations as we have official updates for 3 projects including in development, official lists and release dates and some announcements that I am figuring out what will the project entail or work, but let us delve into those projects now.
Cody Rhodes as Guile

Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki
Roman Reigns as Akuma
Alexander Volkanovski as Joe

Rayna Vallandingham as Juli

But what do you think of all of these game stories, do you think the street fighter film has a solid cast, will you be checking out the tomb raider series and what approach would you like to see from a call of duty movie, what era and who should direct and star?
