Weird Mind News Room Episode 137: Oct 6th - 12th

*Need some banger music for driving on the grid*

Well hello again to all of you fine people of all forms and genders in this part of the information superhighway to the next new addition of the weekly series of Weird Mind News Room where this week we are back in the focus on the discussion of a mixed array of New Releases, Trailers and some small selection of News Stories in focus for this week so lets not waste too long on all the intros and lets get to delving into the discussion of all things media for this week.

Plugging in for New Releases

Movies
TRON Ares
Now the first of the new releases for this week is seeing us enter into the world of the digital age where for well over 4 decades with some highly sophisticated programs showing the power we can only dream over over the years, but after a bit of time, these programs are no longer living in the machines and are now about to leak out into the real world and the world as we know is about to change as coming in 15 years after the legacy returned, a new program is taking shape as we have the release of the 3rd film in this cyber series with Tron Ares.  The film will be following a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world of Tron into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind's first encounter with A.I Beings and may change the world of Humans and Machines forever. Reception on this 3rd entry seems to be a little more of a mixed outcome as while the visuals and the soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails have recieved the highest of glowing praises, the film is a little mixed in the form of focus with some of the performances, narrative and the slight overabundance of nostalgia baiting, though it seems that the audience may be a little more in favour then the critics but to each their own and if you want to enter the grid, then you can check this new film out now in cinemas.

Good Boy
As for the 2nd movie of the week, we have seen many of horror movies in the focus of different perspective of the likes of man made horrors, strange circumstances, unspeakable evils, found footage focus and even just this year in the perspective of the actual supernatural entity itself, but this time we are taking it once again from another new perspective and that is do from the eyes of Man's best friend in what they see that we don't as we have the release of an all new horror in the form of Good Boy. The film will follow a man named Todd who following the death of a family member will see himself and his faithful dog Indy relocate to an old rural farmhouse owned by Todds late grandfather, that even though it was reported to be haunted, its seems that Todd ignores those warnings. However, Indy soon starts to see disturbing supernatural entities all around the home that may be invisible to humans but to this dog it is all too real. Unable to communicate with his owner of his fears and for his safety, Indy must confront and understand about these malevolent forces threatening his owner and as the dangers, the dogs loyalty is put to the ultimate test in a desperate attempt to protect his owner. Reception on this new film has been very highly praised with high praise for the new take on the genre and the performance of the goodest boy of Indy and one that has been labelled as one of the most heartbreaking horrors of the year and if you want to check it out for yourself, then you can check it out in cinemas.

I Swear
As for the last of the films for this week is the case of a new biographical project that over the years we have seen many stories in the focus about some peoples journey and changing perspectives of life while dealing with some form of disability from illnesses, learning issues and the sorts and in the focus with this new project may be a little more explicit in the language, but in the case of the disability, it comes with the ordeal and will show that even with this tick, they are all still human as we have the release of the all new film of I Swear. The film is based on the True Story of John Davidson, who was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome since he was a child and causes them to twitch and mostly swear a lot uncontrollably and while it may feel like a curse, it will lead to him discovering that it's not something to be ashamed of, and helps to create a journey of awareness for others like him and help to change and embrace the condition, leading to the creation of a documentary of John's Not Mad back in 1989. Reception on this new biographical film has been so far very highly praised with the film currently sitting at a perfect 100% score with praise to the performances, the humour, heart and for being a well respected biographical film and case study on the condition and if you want to check it out for yourself, then you can see it now in cinemas.

TV Shows
Smiling Friends Season 3
As for the one tv series for this week that I can come across (though the releasing on a channel where I am is a little mixed) is the case that if you have been feeling down and out and a little glum in the face, then the case of this group will make it their mission to turn that frown upside down as we have the release of the all new 3rd season of the popular Adult Swim series of Smiling Friends. The series will continue on the misadventures of the gang of the Smiling Friends headquarters including the likes of Charlie and Pim going on some journeys to help make people smile and he case of even Allan, Glep and Mr Boss getting in on the fun and get the likes of all of the spirit gems , Mr Frog may run towards the camera and it may all end with a fight against a witch but you never know with this series. Now reception so far on the season, mainly with the first episode of Silly Samuel being mixed to decently recieved with praise to the animation and appeal of the characters, though some elements of the humour in the first outing of the season being a little hit or miss but I am sure that not every episode of a show can be solid comedy gold and I look forward to more misadventures with this group of oddballs and if you want to check it out for yourself it is available to watch on Adult Swim and then next day on HBO Max in the US and HBO Europe (and Presumably Channel 4 in the UK and Ireland).

Video Games
Little Nightmares 3
Moving onto the games for the week and in the first of focus that the likes of the dreams that we may experience can vary in many different shapes and forms with some appealing to the masses and the others being the case of thinking that even through it all some more horrors and scares will come from it all with a few variations of nightmares that come when we least expect it, and in the case of this new title, it is more in the latter that your character may be small but the horrors abound are terrifyingly large as after 2 years since it was first unveiled, we have finally gotten the release of the 3rd entry in the Little Nightmares series. This new entry of the series will have you play as Low and Alone, 2 small children who must travel through a place known as the Nowhere, a somewhat supernatural and dead and deadly place in search of a place to escape from dangerous looming threats that Low seen in his dreams in hopes to survive from the horrors of this land. Now reception on this 3rd entry is a little mixed to positive that while the gameplay and horrors are still well done and still worth a creepiness aesthetic, the narrative and horrors compared to the first 2 entries is a little more underwhelming but it could turn around with some more planned chapters for this game in the future to look forward to and if you want to check it out for yourself and are all in for some more nightmares abound, then you can play the title now on PS4/5, Xbox One/ Series X/S, Switch 1/2 and PC.

Battlefield 6
And for the 2nd game of this week it is time for you to get geared up, prepped and trained and be prepared to go above and Beyond the Call of Duty, but it is not that series just yet (that will be another month from now) as it is time to head into conflict and resolve the greater good as we are back with boots on the ground combat with the release of Battlefield 6. Now the campaign is set in 2027-28 and will follow the members of the Dagger 1-3, an elite team of U.S. Marines Raiders who must fight against a private military company of Pax Armata who seeks to reshape global power as NATO teethers on the edge of collapse and they must find the way to resolve the ordeal before the world is left in ruins. Reception on this new entry of the series seems to be very well recieved with the series seeing a return to form from the get go after the underwhelming and mixed appeal of the previous title in the popular series and seems to be on the right track in campaign and multiplayer action and if you want to play it for yourself then you can play it now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Music
Ninja Sex Party Under the Covers Vol.4
And to wrap up the new releases of the week is with the release of something that will appeal to me in the realm of the music scene as while you have your showgirls and your man childs, I have been waiting for the return of a duo with one in Blue Sparkly Spandex and magnificent hair and the other of a silent ninja with a Theoretical Physics degree and a Masters in Applied Mathematics as the duo of Danny and Ninja Brian are back once more with an all new selection of covering the hits with the release of Volume 4 of NSP's Under the Covers. This of course will consist of a fine selection of covers from this duo and the backing sounds of TWRP with some tracks like Power of Love, Walk the Dinosaur, Hey Jude, Rosanna, SOS and many more tracks on this selection of tasty covers. Now the likes of these albums don't get a lot of reviews I can find easily but I can say that the covers in this are solid and very appealing to listen to, they may not fully hit the perfect tone fully with one or 2 of them but they gave it a damn good effort and if you want to have a listen for yourself you can get their new album on their website in CD, Vinyl or Cassette (with Walkman), in stores if they sell it and listen to it on all forms of music sharing locations.

Trailers across the vast realms

Predator Bad Lands
Now onto the first of the trailers is seeing the case that over the past few decades and entries in the series, we have seen the case that the creature of this franchise has been seen as one of the ultimate hunters and one that has proven a challenge to take down with their advanced artillery's, but it looks like in this one that the hunter is the one seen as the prey or being hunted and will have to team up to take down the powerful competition and prove their worth as we have recieved the 3rd and final trailer for the upcoming new entry of the popular Predator series with Predator Badlands. The film will be set in the distant future and see a young Predator, who has been cast out of his clan and outgunned against human survivors who will find himself an ally in Thia, a young Female Android and will soon embark on a long treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary and to prove his worth. It is definitely seen that the likes of this series over the last few years has proven itself and has turned around heavily in being appealing after some having a few missteps that wasn't massive but worked with some unique ideas to where the creative in focus has found the right balance in appealing to this series with unique ideas and from what I got of this new entry is a bit of a soulslike title where the predator is fighting some unspeakable and massive creatures of the land and with the aid of a mechanical adversary will help to survive this dangerous world and landscape and from the look of it all does appeal to me and I am intrigued to see the overall outcome of this project and it is not too far from release at this point as the new film will be unleashed in just under a months time on November 7th.

Die, My Love
As for the 2nd trailer for this week, we have the focus of a film festival darling that shows the case that many peoples lives and love stories have all some form of appeal where people are inseparable and from that sense of love can bring some sense of marriage and even a creation of a new life, but it is a case that sometimes the affects of that new life can affect some of those bringing it into the world having a sense of uncertainty and struggles afterwards and it is seen fully here with the release of the all new psychological dark comedy drama with a trailer for the new film of Die, My love. It follows a young couple of Grace (Jennifer Lawrence) and Jackson (Robert Pattinson), who move from New York to Rural Montana to have a quieter life. As they soon adjust to their new surroundings and becoming parents, Grace soon begins to struggle with postpartum depression and feelings of Isolation and psychological distress and her deteriorating mental health soon drives their marriage into unsettling and unpredictable territory. There is always an intriguing aspect to see what comes of these projects that have been somewhat quiet in scope and then once they hit the scene as the film festivals is where it really pops off in popularity and from the looks of this trailer it gives off the sense that we are in for an unsettling trip into the deranged and crazy and it does look really interesting and may be well worth a look into and if you are looking forward to checking it out then its not too far from release as well as the film will be dropping into cinemas from November 7th in the US and a week later here on November 14th.

Bugonia
As for the 3rd trailer for this week, we are back to another award season darling and a film festival mainstay and is one that will see a case of some crazy conspiracies, twisted narratives and the creative mind of a director and his Leading Actress in crime back to create something unique and quirky as we have the release of the 3rd and final trailer for the upcoming new film of Bugonia. The film will follow 2 conspiracy obsessed young men who end up kidnapping the CEO of a major Company as they are convinced that they are actually an Alien who is intent on destroying the Earth and I am sure a lot of chaos will ensue. I think that overtime for me with seeing more of these films from Lanthimos be released that its an interesting perspective to see what sort of madcap project or ideals that he will come up with this time around and it seems from the case that really going a bit more into the realm of the conspiracy nuts of the modern age makes a complete and total sense and I am sure it may either be something elaborate and bonkers or one that will provide a sense of a conversation by the projects end and I am sure it may be well worth to see what the outcome is and all of the critical acclaim it has recieved so far as well when the film releases into cinemas in just about 3 weeks time on October 31st.

Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
As for the last of the trailers for this week is seeing us return to the realms of Westeros once more to the time that is not the focus of the original series that may have crashed and burned by the series end and not returning yet to the tale of the family of the 7 kingdoms and their rule with an army of Dragons but instead we are focusing on a story that is a little more lighter in tone and with a slight bit more whimsy, even in a world still populated by Dragons as we are returning back to Westeros for another new Spin off from this expanded universe by George R.R Martin as we have recieved a trailer for the all new spin off for Game of Thrones with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. set a century before the events of the original series, the series will follow Sir Duncan the Tall, a Hedge Knight and his young small squire known as Egg, as they travel across the lands of Westeros, and face a series of dangerous exploits during the continued reign of the Targaryen's and the fabled myths of the last dragons left in memory and great destinies and powerful foes await for these improbable and incomparable friends. Now I have heard a little about this story over the last few years and was one of the few spin offs that survived the first wave of spin off concepts and it seems from the looks of this one from the tone that it gives a bit more of a lighter tone in focus compared to the more serious natured aspect of the original and House of the dragon and it seems the case the main lead is also an Irish Lad so it gives an appeal of seeing this world in a little bit of a more lighter side and so far it looks like it could be something of an enjoyable watch and I am sure it will be well worth a watch with this new series set to release now on HBO and Sky Atlantic from the 18th of January next year.

Marvel Studios WonderMan
So one extra trailer that has popped up as I was taking a little break before finishing up the whole piece, we are taking a full jump all the way over to Marvel and in that sense it is seen that in the world of modern day media, it is a case that Superheroes are all the range and in the case now, may be seeing a sense of fatigue to a lot of people and it can be overwhelming after a bit of time and it seems in this form that they may be making that an overall focus and the perspective to this new project of getting a little meta in that universe of Heroes, it still seems like a similar thing there too as we have the release of the next Marvel project on the way for the MCU with the trailer for the upcoming series of Wonder Man. The series will be a form of a Hollywood satire about the superhero genre and will follow Simon Williams, an actor who gains superpowers after a lab accident and finds himself embroiled in a criminal conspiracy and teaming up with former disgraced actor Trevor Slattery to investigate the company and its connections to ionic radiation, which may be a threat to others and also explore elements of his family relationships as well as his career struggles in a world where real superheroes exist. So it is always interesting to see an idea when a concept or project makes fun of itself in some form and we have seen that in this genre with the likes of the Boys in some degree as well as their Merc with a Mouth as well in his trilogy of films and the likes of thinking if the likes of some of this seen fatigue to this genre is also seen in that world is an interesting one and it has so far intrigued me in that form of feeling a bit like the big winning show of the emmys with the studio as some element to it as well and so far I am intrigued to learn more about it and check it out when it does. Now initially it was suppose to release in December of this year but the series has been pushed back by a month so we can see how this all comes about by its release on January 27th next year on Disney+

A News selection to keep the grid alive

Stories of blocks, curses, princesses, musicians, history and Animatronics
So we only have the focus of a roundup story for the week and this will consist a little on the likes of some hodge Podge stories that mainly consist of Release date updates and some Casting announcements or changes but lets delve into these particular topics from the week.

So the first story in focus was fitting in the month that it is with it being the focus of some spooky season as we are delving into the realm of the return to a horror title that somewhat connects to a bigger franchise but the full connection is really unclear but it was announced on Thursday or Friday that they are currently making a follow up to the Curse of La Llorona with a confirmed casting for the follow up with Revenge of La Llorona with Jay Hernandez, Monica Raymund, Raymond Cruz, Edy Ganem,  Martín Fajardo, Acston Luca Porto and Avie porto all set for this follow up. Now it is a case of many wondering if this connects to that overall series of the Conjuring as its by the same studio but it may be its own separate thing and maybe this follow up could be one that appeals more in reception over the original but it is hard to tell right now with all of this. Currently at the moment there is no set release of when this follow up will release but once I hear anything for this project I will bring it up in a later episode.

So next up of some focus and updates is a release date announcement for a project that was confirmed to be in the works and on the way was with a project that is made one block at a time as it was announced this week that we have now gotten a release date to the follow up to one of the big box office hits of this year as it was announced the sequel to the Minecraft movie will be releasing and building the full terrain from the 23rd of July 2027 which seems like a decent bit of time to develop into a follow up of this franchise. Now with this release date announcement it will also see this going head to head or a possible 2 film box office double feature as if you recall from last week, this film will now be releasing the same day as the sequel to the Simpsons movie, essentially making a new Barbenheimer at the moment that is currently dubbed as Simpcraft. Now do I see both of these releasing on the same day, possibly, but its also a case I see one of them getting delayed for more development time or moved up for a better box office chance or something but its unclear. Likely case as well we will see the cast come back for the follow up including Jack Black back again as Steve and likely case will introduce the character of Alex into the sequel but as of now it is not fully clear who will be back in the cast as of yet but I am sure we will see if both films will stick to the release date and who will be back and added to this follow up but if any changes I will provide them in a later episode.

Now moving from announcements and dates to just casting chats of confirmed, changes and rumours and we'll start with the rumoured one for the moment and this relates to the focus of films that was initially reported to be stopping from the drama and box office of one and then the box office of the follow up gave them a big sack of cash and revived them (and eventually will get to the 2 part or more video on it) but we are talking on some cast rumours for Live Action Disney films and this relates to the project known to be in the works and that is with the movie based on Tangled. Now its not for the main characters of Rapunzel or Flynn / Eugene, but rather we are talking on the villain of the film and that is with a reported casting for Mother Gothel as it seems to be in talks for that role being given to Scarlett Johansson. Now its not a bad choice for the role, she would be interesting to see in a villain role, she can prove she can sing as well and all, but my first choice on the role I wouldn't say that fully as it seems like myself and others online are in agreement that the top choice many had was Kathryn Hahn which I feel would work wonders in tone and Scar Jo could still work in as another character in the film. Now it is a case at the moment this is not set in stone and the likes of this casting is just reports so it could fall through or could be confirmed soon enough but I guess we will see in due time and I am sure we will start hearing a few more names for the other characters in the film but once I do hear anything I will update about it in a later episode as always

This next casting one is somewhat confirmed, but also a bit of a rumour one as it relates to a prequel to a popular series of all star cast heist films with a planned prequel to the Oceans Franchise. Now this was first announced back 2 years ago with Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling set for the role of the parents of George Clooney's and Sandra Bullocks characters in the series and things since then were quiet and may be a case that Gosling may not be a part of this after all. However just on Thursday, we have finally gotten some news in relation to the series as it is reported that Oscar nominated actor Bradley Cooper may be in talks to star alongside Robbie in the film with the film being directed by Twisters and Minari director Lee Issac Chung and tell the story of how their lives inspired their children to follow in those footsteps with their own big pricey Heist's. I can see the likes of this duo working really well for this prequel to the popular series and I am sure the sense of chemistry and connection will work really good overall but it remains to be seen if anything has been finalized. At the moment this is just rumoured reports and nothing overly final has been decided yet but once I do hear anything, I will provide it in a later episode.

Now from rumours to a casting change underway, we are talking on a film that was unexpected to get a follow up, but I guess we have to see the story that occoured soon after from the narrative in the biblical times and that is with some changes to the sequel to the Passion of the Christ as it was announced on Friday that Lead star Jim Caviezel has announced he will no longer be playing Jesus in this follow up and was also announced that Monica Belluci will not be returning as Mary either. Now the reason for this departure seems to stem towards the scheduling conflicts for the actors and the case of the overabundance of Visual and Digital effects needing to be done with them that it became a bit too much for them and decided to part ways with the project and has now seen a search for these 2 roles to be filled again. Now whether this will see a delay on those titles occouring is unknown right now but they still have a little over a year and a half to put it all together or maybe there is a chance of either actor returning but its unclear as of right now. All we can do and see if the films will find a new casting soon or a delay from its Easter 2027 release.

Now the focus of the next casting one is with some reported names and a possible confirmation to a collection of Biopic films on the way and that is in the focus of some casting additions to the films based on the members of the Beatles as while we had some reports and some possible confirmation of Shogun actress Anna Sawai playing Yoko Ono, we have some reports of 2 more additions coming in with one that is possibly confirmed now of Irish Actress Saoirse Ronan playing Linda McCartney opposite Paul Mescal and White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood being cast as the role of Pattie Boyd. I think from the choices that are provided here seem to be solid enough and I am sure it will work out in its favour with the choices made and who else will be making their presence and performance seen in the overall project and if they will all be confirmed for these projects. It will also be a question to be seen how much of a presence with these characters will have in the films or if they will be mostly seen in the individual members films, but I guess we will get some better idea as to who will be cast in all of these projects and what will the plot of each film focus on, but I guess we get some confirmation on some other projects I will provide them in a later episode.

The last of the casting news I will focus on and provide in this discussion is coming to us from the halls of New York Comic Con as there was a bit of some news coming to us relating to the upcoming film adaptation sequel to Five Nights At Freddy's as it was confirmed that some of the animatronics, distinctly the toy animatronics will be getting themselves some voices in this film (not going off the canon of the lore and the animatronics don't properly talk until another 3 or 4 games) but we got confirmation that we have one voice returning from the games in the form of Kellen Goff voicing Toy Freddy, probably the weirdest casting with Toy Chica being voiced by Megan Fox and then one that felt earned (even with their cameo appearance in the first film) with MatPat himself set to voice Toy Bonnie. Overall I do think that the choices for the roles are decent, with the only one I am a little mixed on is Fox but maybe she can prove herself in the role of it all but I guess we will see. Now it is unclear if the likes of some of the other animatronics will have some voices like Mangle, Balloon Boy or the Puppet but maybe they are saving them until the actual film release in December but I guess we will see in due time of what the sequel has in store for us all.

Lastly this story is one that doesn't have anything to do with casting but it connects to that previous story as we are talking on the man dubbed as the King of Five Nights At Freddy's as he has now gotten his Queen too as it was announced that this week that Markiplier has gotten himself married to his longtime partner of Amy Nelson and it was a sense of the internet came together this week when it was announced in solidarity about this happening and it was a really wholesome moment overall and in all of this I want to wish them a very happy marriage and life together as they really seem perfect for each other.

But with all of that now I want to know your thoughts on all of these stories, will you watch a La Llorona sequel, are you excited for a Minecraft film sequel and will you sit through the double sequel feature, who would you cast in the roles of the Tangled Live action remake, who would you cast as Mary and Jesus in that Passion of the Christ sequel, are they solid choices for the Oceans Prequel and Beatles films and who do you see voicing some other animatronics in these FNAF films. Let me know what you think of them all down below in the comments.

And with all of that, that brings us to the end of the 137th edition of Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you enjoy the rambling as always for another week. Let me know your thoughts on all of these down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday and I will see you all in the next Episode :)

Take Care, Keep being you, signing off
Sam H :)
