Weird Mind News Room Episode 171: June 1st - 7th

 *Music to have the Power*

Well hello to you super very fine and wonderful people of all forms and interests, my name is Sam and I am your continued host in the weekly series of Weird Mind News Room where for another week I will be here to bring new insights on some new releases, trailers and News stories from across the information superhighway that you may have missed from this week and rounded up all in one location. But lets not waste too much time on the usual introductions and lets get to all things media for this week.

Masters of the New Releases

Movies
Masters of the Universe
A fair amount of the new releases this week consist in the focus of some blast from the past with some in focus and the first will be bringing us back to the era of the high fantasy of Saturday Morning Cartoons, where when an all powerful villain tries to control the land and the saviour goes missing for a large chunk of their life, but it will soon be time for when the moment is right for their return and to prove that they have the power as it is time to return to the lands of Eternia as we have the release of the all new take on Masters of the Universe. Fleeing a devastating civil war, ten year old Prince Adam Glenn (Nicholas Galitzine) is spirited away to his mothers home planet of Earth to protect him from the evil forces, which separates him from his Ancestor's Sword of Power. 2 Decades later, a now adult Adam must return to the planet of Eternia and rediscover his his lost birthright, becoming the mighty hero He-Man and leading the few remaining warriors of Eternia against the evil forces of Skeletor (Jared Leto). Reception on this new entry of the IP has been decently recieved with praise on the visuals, performances (mainly on Galitzine, Idris Elba and surprisingly Leto) and for its campy nature, though some feel it may not take itself too seriously and the narrative can feel a little too all over the place but may be seen as a decent entertaining watch and if you are ready to find the power, then you can check this film out now in cinemas.

Scary Movie
For the 2nd of the films this week, we keeping things in the comedy side and in the focus where the ideals and concept of the spoof movie have been something that may have died out in the early 2010s due to the sense of some probable poor taste, but it seems in this regards of things that you can find some success or with the changing climate that it will find a way to see that every line will be crossed, as after about a decade since the last entry and 25 years since the original creators last entry, it is time for a scarily crazy comedy as we have the release of the all new entry of Scary Movie. the film will see a group of friends reunite when a masked killer that they encounter over 26 years ago returns to cause havoc and will do it in a way that will cross every line in offense. Reception on this new entry however has not been the most well recieved as while the concept of the return and tone of the films from the Wayans Brothers is seen, the film lacks in the hard belly laughs that many had hoped for but I am sure you may find some appeal and comedy in there in general and if you want to laugh or get offended then you can catch this new film also out now in cinemas.

TV Shows
The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4
For the next new release and first of the tv shows of this week, it is time to gather your crew, prepare to strategize and for an unexpected outcome on what may lie out there beyond the horizon as it is time to return to a series based on a beloved real life campaign of D&D as we have the release of the 4th season to the popular series of the Legend of Vox Machina. Set about a year after the conclusion of season 3 with the Chroma Conclave, the Vox Machina has separated in the search for Love, family and purpose, but the call for adventure is always just a breath away. Soon that adventure comes calling when a long-slumbering evil awakens to threaten the realm, they must reunite to take on the epic foe. Reception on this new season like very other season has been very well recieved with praise on the performances, visuals, narrative and being a continued appealing story narrative of this long running campaign and if you are up for a new adventure you can catch the first 3 episodes now on Amazon Prime with new episodes releasing every Wednesday.

Among Us
For this last new release is one that was a surprise release that I had heard was being made but I was surprised on it being that real quiet about the outcome of it all and its sudden release feels a little.... sus, as its time to decide who is the one responsible as we have the release of the new video game adaption based on the game of Among Us. Based on the multiplayer deduction game, the series will follow a crew of space explorers aboard the ship of the Skeld where its discovered there is an alien shapeshifter on board that plans to cause chaos, sabotage the ship and kill off the crew and will soon see each crew member on the ship be at each others throats to discover who is the imposter. Reception for this new series has not had much of the reviews to come in for this as of yet, but it seems that some consensus online seems to say its actually not that bad and visually is enjoyable and doesn't take much of your time to watch the full show and if you want to check it out for yourself it is available to stream now on Paramount+

Trailers of various styles

The End of Oak Street
The first of the trailers for this week will bring the question of what would you do in a scenario where your entire street get up and moved to somewhere in a random point in time and will bring a wondering of figuring out on how you will get home and how will you survive in a location that will be a lot of unforseen dangers, well that is what this first film trailer will be in focus with as we have the release of the newest trailer for the upcoming new title of The End of Oak Street. The film will see a mysterious cosmic event ripping Oak Street from Suburbia and transports their neighbourhood to someplace unknown in the far distinct time period of the past, where a family will soon discover that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable and more dangerous surroundings. it is a case that we have seen the ideals of a lot of media being a focus to the likes of prehistoric characters in modern settings, with a majority being in no small part from the ongoing Jurassic Park / World series. This aspect has been one that I kind of hoped the more recent 2 entries of the series was going to go with it being normal civilian's trying to live and survive when giant dinos of both Herbivore and Carnivore will be out to feast and walking across these lands and it seems from this that it has some potential to be good and appeal and personally I do not have much of an issue to this and feel it could be worth a watch, but I guess we will find out in due time as the new film will be making a trip to the past when it releases in cinemas from the 14th of August.

How to Rob a Bank
The next trailer in focus would be something as I see as a sort of Modern Day Robin Hood story where we would be the case that the well known tale was that bandit and his merry men would steal from the rich and give to the poor and it seems this may be a similar approach with a bit more of a modern approach and elements of the social media side to it all and will soon see one of their own may be in the focus of having to take them down as we have the release of the newest film from David Leitch with How to Rob a Bank. The film follows a group of Bank Robbers, who use the prowess of Social Media to document their heists that they have pulled off while escaping from the police, but soon an old flame to the leader of the group may be used by the police force to try and take them down in exchange for a better life. Now the ideals of this I remember hearing from cinemacon was one that I was a little on the fence with, mainly on some of the cast choice or concept, but after seeing the footage from this trailer, my thoughts have changed and from what I got from this was giving me the sense of David Leitch making his own take on Baby Driver (just minus some unknown if problematic castings) and the ideals that this would be some people would do stuff like this in the form of gloating about their haul and stolen goods seems like it all makes the most sense, and personally with Leitch's tone for action I feel this could be another appealing action romp, but I will guess we will find out in due time when this heist comes together by its release into cinemas from the 4th of September.

Supergirl
The 3rd trailer for this week is in the focus of another upcoming big summer blockbuster on the horizon where in the event of similar tone to last year will be a similar summer for a certain superhero where last year we were told to Look up, but this it will be to look out, as the cousin of the Man of Steel will be getting her big return outing on the big screen as we have the release of the final trailer for the upcoming take on Supergirl. The film will follow Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) who decides to travel across the galaxy with her dog Krypto to celebrate her 23rd birthday. Along the way, she meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll and encounters a tragedy that will soon lead to to a "murderous quest for revenge". It has definitely been a whirlwind of discussions and opinions about this entry, mainly in the side of those that are very vocal about not liking anything of modern cinema releases, but to me in this regards I have been very interested in the approach to the overall narrative and I feel that after a bit of a messy original film for this character back in the 80s, the somewhat decent TV show (even if it was from the CW) and the potential with it from that Flash film, I can appreciate that they are giving this project a chance and I will say that it will be well worth seeing more female superheroes on the big screen overall and personally all I have seen for this film has been pretty entertaining and I look forward to checking this out in due time as she will be taking flight when it releases into cinemas from the 26th of June.

Ice Age Boiling Point

This last trailer was one I was not expecting to see just this early, but I guess we got to have some small sense of a tease to go off of and in the sense where everything may be getting a lot warmer for these upcoming months, this may also be affecting this entry of a popular animated series that is always known for being more in the cold side of things, as it seems that after a decade since their last theatrical entry, the pack is back with the release of the first teaser for the 6th entry of the Ice Age series with Boiling Point. While plot details are scarce, the reports is will see it being a massive dinosaur and Lava filled madcap adventure that will see Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and the rest of the herd on a journey to the never before seen corners of the treacherous lost world. So truth be told in all of this, this series of films has always been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine as while some have their mixed opinions on these films, I personally have enjoyed them for their concepts and efforts that sure as the series goes on gets a little over extreme but there is something about them being a little goofy and nonsensical that is just enjoyable. I am a little on the fence with it given this will be the first theatrically released entry not made by Blue Sky since they closed down 5 years ago but I will say that the likes of this could be another fun little enjoyable outcome, but I guess we will see of the plot and outcome in due time as the film will be bringing the heat into cinemas from the 5th of February next year.

News to sort out the tasks for

The extensive focus to the state of Play

So we have a focus of a fair bit of gaming news this week that may cover at least 2 of the big events of this week (and the 3rd may be kept to next week) as we start with the focus to the State of Play that was presented to us on Tuesday of this week that consisted of some big new releases coming to us over the next year or so and will be a focus of around 20 titles that will be in focus for this week of entertainment and give some brief discussion about it all and I will give the best bit of look and focus to them all in this story, so lets dive in and see what was announced.

So they started off the presentation with the claws out as they came in with a focus of about a 10 minute focus to the first official gameplay to the upcoming new Marvel game of Wolverine that showed off the visuals, the combat and some other appearances of other Mutants appearing including Jean Gray, Mystique and Sabertooth and I am sure there will be more to come. Now some have complained about the design of the Mask but this is probably just footage render and is giving me puddlegate from the first Spider-Man game from this studio and just makes it seem like people will find the smallest thing to complain about, but I am still hyped for this and I will be trying this out with its release on September 15th.

They keep it with Marvel for one more other title on the way for the console as we got another new look at the upcoming new fighting game of Tokon Fighting souls with it unveiling a focus of another batch of characters on the way which include the Knights of Doom that consist of Magneto, Carnage and the Green Goblin joining the battle and it seems like from the visuals and the form this looks like the appeal that may have started to dwindle from the Marvel vs Capcom series may be restored with this title and I am sure we will see a few more joining the fight when it releases on August 6th.

When this next reveal happened, I experienced a whole array of emotions, especially joy cause after so much copium, we finally have a new Rayman game and sure it may be a remake of Legends, this new take looks so good in the 2.5 to 3D approach with the confirmation of new visuals,, narrative and cutscenes, worlds and music levels and I am so damn excited for this and I hope if this is a success that we will see more new proper games in the series in the future and I am all for buying this title for probably the 5th time (with the inclusion of Origins) when it drops on the 1st of October.
Then we are heading back to the world found from the popular Indie title of Dave the Diver with the focus of a prequel or follow on story on the popular character of Bancho the Chef and will see his origins of his journey across the land to become one of the greatest sushi master in the land. It seems like quite the outcome but overall it looks like it could be something worth a fun little adventure but I am sure we will see the outcome by its release sometime in the future.

Then it was time for a high octance fast paced action title on the focus of the game of Kemuri that will see you face off against powerful spiritual forms and creatures across multiple lands and the fast paced gameplay is giving me a vibe of Jet Set Radio, Sunset Overdrive and Infamous with the cool setting in a vibrant part of Asia and I may give this a go cause it looks like quite the fun time (and I appreciate that they got the very upbeat and lovable presenter from Blooper team who unveiled Ghostwire Tokyo to present this game and she is still adorable and must be protected) and I am sure will be something worth a try when it releases in 2027.

Then we are back on a globetrotting adventure as we are back with the famous Female adventurer as we got a focus to the upcoming remake of the original entry of Tomb Raider with Legacy of Atlantis and will see an updated focus on the title that made her a household name in gaming and while the game looks visually great and I am sure will be well worth a try, though some appeal has started to dwindle after reports came out that a fair bit of AI tools have been used to develop it (but I expected it given Amazon studios wants to go heavily on some AI elements when they seem completely oblivious to a lot of people) but I am sure they have plenty of time to fix those concerns and issues by its release on February 12th next year.

For an all new title that was unveiled at the event and coming to us from Annpurna, it looks like the world will see the crossing of the past coming into affect overall as we got the unveiling of The Lost Wild, an all new title that will see you have to survive in the wilderness and run down location while avoiding coming to a demise from a lot of dangerous prehistoric creatures that used to roam the earth. Now the case is that it looks like we are getting 2 titles with this focus of a new IP and one based on the series of Jurassic Park and taking place after the events of the first film that I am wondering if that game is still on the way, but I will be for sure playing both with this one set to launch sometime in 2027.

Now while this next entry did not have as big of a focus in this State of Play, we got the focus of a brief tease of the upcoming Phantom Blade entry with a masked individual fighting against 2 other mercenaries while keeping a small child bundled up to him safe and there is so much quick and flashy action and even the brief glimpse was quite the appeal to watch overtime all to reveal that a new special State of Play for the title will be unveiled next month so I am sure it will be worth checking out and we will see how it all comes together by its release on October 29th.

While the next title was just a confirmation of Dune Awakening coming to PS5, the next title was the new look at the remaster of Dynasty Warriors 3 with a visual focus of some gameplay updates, visuals and a new character addition from another title in the series and I am sure it will be well worth a focus to play this classic entry of the series when it drops on October 1st.

Then we were shown and unveiled the newest title from the developers of the Ori series with a focus on No Rest for the Wicked that will be a new top down strategy based dungeon crawler with very interesting visuals, unique characters, settings and narrative and I am sure will be interesting to see what the outcome of the project will be with the 1.0 version coming sometime this October.

We were then treated to an all new look at the narrative and gameplay of the newest entry of the Onimusha series with it getting a focus on the upcoming narrative and some fast paced gameplay that will bring such an appeal to this overall series and I am sure I will give this a proper try with it now set for release on September 25th, though you can get a taste of the title with a demo now available to try on the console.

For a bit of some spooks and scares from this event, we got an all new look with a bit of some more gameplay and focus to the narrative at the upcoming new Silent Hill title of Townfall that will be giving us a new location in a more small remote portside village in the UK and some mystery from the focus of a recent medical ordeal the character may have been through and from the focus on the visuals and everything else it looks like the series may be in a better position (and likely need the win after the mess of the Silent Hill film from January of this year) but I am sure we will see by its release now confirmed for September 24th.

We then were taken to the skies as we got an all new look at the upcoming 8th entry in the popular Ace Combat series with Wings of Theve that will see this overall narrative and team of jet pilots trying to save the world from a powerful mech based adversary that has appeared and seems to be a challenge for them to solve from causing mass destruction and it seems like it could be a decent time, I haven't played too much of the series but maybe in the future I will and thankfully for those wondering we do have a release date for this title set for October 2nd.

Then a series that I thought was very quiet and been dormant for quite sometime will be back to bring the action, high speeds and fast explosions as the series of Stuntman is back with a focus on Stuntman Hollywood that will be seeing you race across vast locations in some iconic cars like Kitt from Knight Rider, The Deloreon from Back to the Future and a lot more from fast based films and will be worth playing all forms of fast stunts, high action and appeal back to this series all over again and I am sure this will be something worth playing when it releases sometime in the near future.

As for the 2nd of the Horror based titles of this week will be giving a new look at the narrative and story that you will be experiencing in the new project known as ILL that will see you awaken from some comatose state and find yourself battling through an armada of chaos and nightmarish creatures that really gives it some appeal in the visual and tone and from what I have seen over the last few showcases of this game there is a lot of appeal to it and I am sure will be worth diving into these nightmares when it releases sometime next year.

This will not be the first time we will see this title in news for this week (but will only focus on it for this story) and we have an all new look and focus to the upcoming entry of the Control sequel with Resonant that will see you take a battle against some very powerful and corrupt creatures across a twisted form of Manhattan and it looks really twisty and if anything like the original then this title will be cool and I am all for checking it out when it releases on September 24th.

While the next 2 were confirmations of new update content for Marathon and what is to come to PlayStation Plus, we move to the 2nd last announcement from the night and it was revealed from a surprise announcement of a sequel to the 2015 title of Until Dawn, which seems to be in development from the team behind the remaster and will see a group of social media Ghost Hunters investigating an abandoned island paradise and experience the horrors abound there and the quick judge decisions that will decide who will live or die and I have to say I did not expect this. Now its unclear if other characters from the original besides Dr Hill will make a return in this title but I am sure we will get an idea of it by its release sometime next year.

And to wrap up this conference will be seeing us return to the world of Gods and Mortals with an all new setting that plays in tandem to some other entries of this series as we were given a reveal of an all new entry of the God of War series with a focus on Laufey which will focus on the character of Faye, the deceased wife of Kratos as we follow her into the afterlife and take on the powerful adversaries of Gods across different cultures and from the gameplay footage given the look of the recent games but also the style of fighting from the original Trilogy and it looks super cool and I know there will be the usual complaints about the look of the lead character and it being a woman protagonist, but I think it will be a great entry and I will be playing this when it releases sometime in the near future.

And that was what was unveiled at this months State of play and I will say there was quite a few appealing titles from this conference itself and personally I am well interested in a few of these in the future. I am not sure if there was some other titles I hoped for from this event but overall what they showed looked great and I will be playing a lot of these when they release in the future.

But what do you think of these announcements, what are you the most excited for and what did you hope to have been revealed at the event? Let me know what you think down below.

A festival of more games from the Summer
You may have thought that was the only conference but you would be mistaken as essentially this is the new take on E3 with the multiple different conferences over the few days and this next one was in the focus of the somewhat big one of all consoles and PC with the Summer Games fest that is hosted by Geoff Keighley and will be consisting of some other big massive titles that will be coming to us across all forms of platforms with quite a few big surprises and a few updates and others we expected to see eventually, but lets delve into the about 30 announcements from this presentation.

Similar to how the State of Play opened with a big title, Summer Games Fest came in swinging with a title that many had hoped to see get announced and after being trapped on a console generation of yesteryear, we have finally got the reveal of the next entry of the Resident Evil series with the new title of Veronica that will be a remake of the original Code Veronica that released all the way back on the PS2 and Original XBox era and honestly it was about time and it looks visually stunning from the small snippet so far and I cannot wait to play this title and while there is a bit of a ways away, we know we will be up for the mission when it releases in 2027.

They kept on going with another massive solid announcement as the studio of MDHR made an appearance with a special news Bulletin with the confirmation that we are getting an all new fully hand drawn sequel of Cuphead coming in the future which I was not expecting to see but I am so ready for an all new challenge in the battle of the brawl surely brewing. It was however not the only announcement as it seems that the original title will be revisited and this will be in the form of a new pixel art style form in the Mighty Cuphead Adventure that will have the original game done in the form of the classic NES/SNES style approach and honestly that is a super great approach to try that title as well with both title not given an official release date but both coming in the near future.

Then after a long wait and anticipation, a follow up I have been waiting 12 years for and all forms of bait and switch it was finally given the official reveal that the Alien Isolation sequel was shown off at the event with just a small snippet of the new location which seems to have us on a form of a rainy and foggy planet with the remnants of some debris of some space craft and other material across the planet and I am sure it will be the case that even with the wider opening area that I am sure the universe's most dangerous organism may get even more terrifying on their own terf. I have been waiting years for a follow up to one of the best horrors of recent memory and I am so very excited to play this and hope the Alien AI will be even more perfected like the original but I am sure we will see by its release in the near future.

Then first initially being teased at the game award a few years back, we have finally gotten a look at the newest title from Team ICO with the newly titled Gen Atlas that will see you as a mute explorer on a journey with the ability to access and control the functionality of a mech robot and do battle against some powerful ancient adversaries and it seems like it could be something that I hope will be well worth the decade wait since their last game release and I am sure it could be well worth a try as they are usually solid titles, but I guess we will see by its release sometime in the near future.

On the side of another new title unveiled at the event, we got a reveal of the title of Blood message that will be a new 3rd person high paced action title set during the Tang Dynasty and it seems from the focus of the overall trailer that the narrative seems to be moving in quite the fast paced focus and going all in on the violence of this conflict and it does look really visually strong overall and I am sure it can be a case of it being worth a try when it releases sometime in the future.

This next one was not much of a major focus and new look at this title as that came a short while ago with the title track trailer, but we got a brief look at the upcoming new title of Stranger than heaven that revealed a cast list of some big hitting asian voice talent and then a reveal of someone I did not expect and that is with the case that iconic rapper Tupac was appearing in this title which is quite the most random addition to this title (then again Snoop Dogg is also in this title as well) but what I gave seen of this game over the last little while seems really entertaining and I am sure it will be worth a try with this title now set for release on January 15th next year.

The next title in focus was with a new reveal of a title from Sweden with the new game of Haex that will see you explore and try to learn the focus of the mysterious shapeshifting fortress and use of these strange cube based items and I can see the outcome of this being an overall appeal and focus to it all and hopefully will have a sense of appealing mystery in the narrative and some challenge to it and I will give it a try by its release next year.

The next 2 were teases of both a new edition in focus for Dead by Daylight for its 10 year anniversary which will be dropping next week and a confirmation that the beta test for Mortal Shell 2 has dropped online but the next game with a focus was a new title from tiny build of Sand Raider of Sophie that will see you create your own walking sand mechs and do battle for resources, cities and control of the lands in the no man's land all around you that is giving a strong sense to Wild Wild West but it could be something worth trying and it seems the game is available to play now from the day of the event.

We then got an all new look at the upcoming new remake of the beloved entry of the Assassins Creed Black Flag that showed off the visual upgrade, some gameplay and all the sense of appeal that you had from the original title with a fresh coat of paint and its nice to see my personal favourite entry looking this appealing and will be giving it a play when it releases on July 9th.

Then it will be time to join the resistance and prepare for battle all in the purpose of defending the honor of your fallen family as after some speculation and ordeal for a bit of time, it was finally revealed that the TMNT game of the Last Ronin is in development that will tell of the remaining member of the 4 turtles taking revenge against those that killed his brother and Master Splinter and with the studio behind the Bayonetta titles working on this will be well worth checking this out when it releases in the future cause I know the concept and narrative could be well worth seeing and eventually get that film version back on track too.

Its then a focus of suiting up in some high end tech gear to battle something on a much larger scale as we have an all new Gundam game with Rogue orbit that will see you pilot the Helix as Ace Pilot RE-X as you prepare to slash, smash and clash your way through powerful mech adversaries and save the world from utter destruction and it seems the appeal of the series is still there and all present for this franchise and it will all be set to go down when the title releases sometime next year.

Of the one co-op focused comical game that I can see for the moment, we got the reveal of a new title known as Eggstremely hard game that will see you and a friend playing as a pair of ducks of Geese as you try and make your way across a selection of strange and challenging levels and keep your shared egg from going Sunny Side up and I feel this will be an interesting title to do some solid coordination with by its release from the 24th of July.

It was then time for a focus to a bit of all out combat and warfare as we got the reveal of an all new title known as crossfire that will be a new narrative based story from former Naughty Dog and Call of Duty Developers that will see you control 2 different opposing mercenaries and have to work together to fight against a lethal threat and I can appreciate with it having the function of the tone of COD but giving it a more cinematic narrative flair and I am sure it will be interesting to try when it releases sometime in the future,

The next title in focus was with another new look at Control Resonant but since I already discussed in state of play I will move to the next reveal which would be the 3rd entry in the Guild Wars franchise that will bring a whole array of new classes, creatures and battles across a vast and colourful land to make your own and save from destruction with the aid of magic and mystery found across every corner and I am sure will have its appeal when it releases in the fall of 2027.

It was then time to prepare for a journey to a galaxy far far away as we got an all new look at the newest focus and some story focus on the upcoming Star Wars Galactic Racer title as it will see your mysterious masked character challenging across many different tracks and planets as well as vehicle types and best racers in the galaxy and it seems like the visuals and tone is going to bring a lot of appeal and focus to some that loved the original racer titles back in the prequel day and I am interested to give it a try when it releases on October 6th.

It was then given an all new look at the new top down survival game of the End of Abyss that will see you explore a deep dark and unforseen Abyss to discover what lies below and what horrors await while finding a way to get out with your lives in tact and I am sure it will have some sense of appeal and be worth a try when it releases on October 1st.

We have another new title from Tiny Build with the focus of the new survival game of Last Harbor that will see you gear up and stay protected from some undead or supernatural outbreak with the aid of a armoured boat on the ocean and while it looks a little janky I am sure it could have some appeal in worth trying it out when it releases in the future.

We then got a reveal of the newest entry of the popular fighting title of Virtua Fighter with Crossroads that showed off a bit of narrative, the visuals and a fair bit of the characters in focus on who will be playable in the title and it does look really visually great and it could be worth a try, even as a starting game in the series but I am sure it will be worth checking out when it releases in 2027.

The next array was mainly title updates and releases from a Runescape game coming to Xbox in September, a new alpha for some upcoming new fantasy RPG, some indie highlights for Switch 2 and Grounded 2 coming to PS5, but the one in focus I will give was the confirmation that we will be getting some DLC for the recent mafia title in Man of Honor that will be in focus on the younger version of the original games protagonist of Tommy Angelo and it seems like while not much is shown, it will be interesting to see some backstory to some popular characters from this long running series, but I am sure we will get a bit more of an idea to it by its release on August 15th.

For another new title in focus to it all, it looks like a sense of spooks and scares making their presence known in this format as we got the unveiling of 1666 Amsterdam that seems to be you portraying a woman that may be a secret Witch in this era where you would be burned at the stake and I like the setting, the concept and focus and it has been a very limited focus in the concept of a game where you are a member of a witch cult, but I really like it and I am personally willing to give this a try (although I've heard reports that Gen AI was used which may make it underwhelming) and I am sure we will give it a try when it releases on early access later this year and full release in the future (but you can play a 30 minute Prologue now on PC and maybe console).

Now this next reveal was one that many had hopes on before the concept of what it entails was revealed but it will soon be time to play a game as they unveiled a new title based on the series of Saw with genesis that while initially well liked at first, some were a bit underwhelmed and disappointed that it has become a form of a Dead by Daylight 1v3 based game of survival. I am sure there will be appeal to some and it may help to work out and find an appeal to both sides but I am sure we will see by its release in the near future.

We were then given a brief new look at the upcoming entry of the fast paced, action and battle heavy sequel to lords of the fallen with this being a focus to the confirmation of the consoles and PC apps it will be coming to and a confirmation for its release in the fall of this year.

We are returning once more to a Galaxy Far Far Away as it was the unveiling of another Star Wars title with Zero company being revealed that gave a focus to a more strategic based entry as you plan out battles across points in the saga and on its own path and achieve victory or die trying in the process and seems like it could be an interesting approach to the saga but we can see by its release on August 27th.

The next title given a focus was with some gameplay and concept on the narrative to the upcoming gothic based tale of The Blood of Dawnwalker that will see you as a Daywalker or Vampire that will be out for revenge against one that wronged you over the course of centuries from the gothic medieval era to the present day and it seems from some cinematics and a bit of gameplay from the past, it does seem to have some appeal from it all and I am sure this will be well worth a try when it releases on September 3rd.

This next title would be one of 2 releases based on this world of deduction, but since we already talked on one in the new releases, we'll talk on the more playable title instead as it was announced that we have a new story based title on Among Us with On Guard that will see you in a more murder mystery detective story as you become an amatuer sleuth and solve the mystery of the death of the crewmate on the ship and I like the approach and the somewhat stylized animation of the game and it could be a simple fun gimmick game like the Murder of Sonic and I may give this a go when it releases in the near future.

It was then another wave of some quick highlight elements with confirmation of new story DLC coming to 007 First Light, more highlights for Switch 2, a new look at the recently released remake of Gothic, another high octane anime focus with Aion 2 and a new look at a crossover of Wuthering Heights with Cyberpunk Edgerunners, but the next in focus with a major focus was with an all new expansion coming to last years Monster Hunter Entry of wilds with the announcement of Ascendance that will be seeing the focus of capturing all forms of Monsties and saving the lands now across the vast islands and lands across the sky above and the ground below and it seems like they have some appeal to help bring some hope back for that series after some mixed outcome after a bit of time from launch but I am sure we can see by its release in 2027.

Then what I see as the only Souls type battle system game I could see from this event was the new look at some gameplay of the recently announced Swords of Legends that focused on a fight with a spiritual deity made of a sentient and powerful cloak and mask and it seems like it has some sense of skill and focus to it and I enjoyed watching the fight and some of the visual flair that the title provided and I am sure it could be an interesting element when the game releases in the near future.

The next title unveiled will be seeing us opening the ol' toy box and busting out these elaborate sets for stunts cause we got the reveal of an all new Hot Wheels game with Infinite Rush that will see you take the race and exploration across the vast open world and drive to where you desire and interact with some well known and familiar set pieces from this massive merchandise product and I am sure it could be something worth even giving a try when it releases on September 24th.

Then an unexpected appearance at the event occoured as Sonic made an appearance (as its been a thing that Geoff Keighley doesn't really like Sonic but nothing has been made official) as the Blue Blur appeared for a brief mention of some upcoming focus of a Year 2 edition for Sonic Racing Cross worlds with the first 2 packs of the next wave being a crossover with both Godzilla and Evangelion that will see you with some new tracks and racers to be added after the conclusion of the Wave 1 editions. While this looks cool, this will be putting a lot of pressure on Nintendo with their recent Mario Kart game to add some in that title to even compete but I am sure we will get more of an insight to Sonic for his 35th anniversary later as well as the release for Year 2 content.

There is a bit of a focus to some anime for the last few game announcements and this first one will see the culmination of a popular anime manga in game form as they announced a 3rd Attack on Titan game that will bring the culmination of the full story from beginning to end and will see all the gameplay, fast paced action and intricate narrative in the playable format that I am sure will appeal to fans of the first 2 games and the series itself and I am sure will be worth playing when it releases in the near future.

Then the team behind the Forza Horizon series will be bringing us a new take on the racing sim that they have been well known for as they unveiled a new title known as Clutch that will be a form of an open world driving sim with a deep intricate narrative included in the game and it seems like this could appeal to both those that love a good car sim and those that hoped for some form of narrative in that popular series and I am sure this could appeal to both by its eventual release in the spring of next year.

This was then followed up with a look at the official gameplay to the title of Chronicles Medieval that will see you plan and strategize a vast army at your command and see your formation and approach as the difference between victory and defeat and I am interested to see what they do with this world when it releases on early access later this year.

Following that was a reveal of a new look at the title of Sea of Remnants that while not really showing much in terms of gameplay or what to expect from the game, it was more of a flashy music video showing off the visual style of this title and the idea that the game will be going off the walls in craziness, but I am sure we can get an idea of it more when its available to play in the near future.

there was one last little promo break of a sale on Capcom titles including the recent releases of Requiem and Pragmata, as well as a new limited time event for Hitman where you hunt down Wiz Khalifa, but this next one I am surprised that this game still lived even with the possible clear plagiarism but it was confirmed that Palworld is going full release with the focus of a cinematic trailer with some of these creatures and world in focus and will be shown the focus to this world when it launches in full release from the 10th of July.

Then after presumed dead and buried for a long while, it was finally brought back to life and confirmed that the Wolf Among us season 2 is in fact still alive and still in development and will be back as gruff detective of Bigby Wolf and solve some mysterious and crimes found across fabletown and I am sure after this long a wait (and it being first unveiled about a decade ago) that this could all come together in a hopeful long awaited success but I am sure we will see by its hopeful release next year, but to quench that appetite until then, they also confirmed the original season will be getting the remaster treatment and dropping on all modern consoles and pc sometime this holiday season.

While we had a bit of a debate discussion of some online about female characters and their designs in some early footage, it seems to not be as discussed as an issue after the reveal of this new title in the Stellar Blade series with Blood Rain, that might not be a proper sequel to the original, but more in the reign of a separate story in a somewhat steampunk neon city, but it looks like from the visuals, narrative and combat that it could have a large sense of an appeal to it all when the title releases sometime in the near future.

While there was one other announcement in between these last 2 games, it mainly was the focus of some new fighters coming to Street Fighter 6 including a certain character that is a key figure in this final title reveal, as after a long journey, the expanded remake of one of the most beloved titles in gaming will be coming to a conclusion as they unveiled the 3rd and final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake with Revelations that will see the team led by Cloud Strife continue on their journey to save the world that is on the brink of annihilation and must find a way to stop the powerful adversary of Sephiroth from reaching the level of Godhood. It seems like the remake was a lot bigger then they expected and I can see the approach to the overall splitting into multiple titles and while I can say they could've shown one or two more titles after this instead of an extended focus, when I was fine with it from God of War, I think to end it with this was a decent approach and I am sure I will have enough time to play the first 2 parts before this final entry drops on all platforms in the spring of next year.

And finally with that, this brought the end of the Summer Games Fest Showcase and I enjoyed my time with some decent titles to start and end the event and a few solid ones scattered in between. It was not all perfect as there was some that I could give or take and the most biggest issue was watching the event with the sync being totally off the entire stream and even getting ads during a live stream event in the middle of trailers which is stupid, but if I can look past those I can say it was a decent event overall. Now we will see for the following week what the other 2 big companies will have in mind for their titles to come.

But what did you think of this massive event, was there any titles from this that you hoped to have seen and what was your favourite announcement of the night? Let me know what you think down below and we can discuss them there.

Other elements of news or games to follow

Now we have one more story element for this week but this will be a lot less amount of content in focus as this week we have a small number of non gaming news (maybe just one last quick mention here of a new Godzilla Destroy all Monsters remaster is happening and releasing the same month as GTA6 and the original Hitman Trilogy will be dropping on modern consoles) that we have for this week so let us see what there was to catch up on from this week

This first bit of news is one I am going to keep brief as we have an update on some film news and while this title is currently making a name for itself at the box office, it looks like we have only scratched the surface of this strange place, as it was announced earlier this week that a sequel to the Backrooms is currently in development and will likely see Parsons back to direct the title. Now to say this title has been a massive success has been an understatement as it was A24s biggest opening for a film, the youngest director to hit #1 and now the highest grossing A24 film at the company, it was expected a sequel was inevitable as Parsons has a lot of worldbuilding and mystery to build from of this strange world you can find from no-clipping out of reality. I hope in the case that in the regards of some that think this was based on some "Games" will realize one, that those are not official games and just ones from Roblox and 2 that its based more on Parsons series on YouTube but I am sure we will get an idea of them as time goes on. Now there is no set idea on when this follow up will occour but once I hear anything I will provide it in a later episode.

The next project announcement is one that was recently brought up a few weeks ago at the cinemacon event that seems to have been a concept for some time and while the idea could work in a updated setting, the choice to helm it may be a bit of a concern as it was confirmed that the Escape from New York remake is currently entering proper development and the choice on the director for this project is Zack Snyder. Now on the one hand, I am sure he has an appeal and love for the original with Kurt Russell as Snake Plisskin and could get the tone done well, the concern I can see with this would be if they are writing the project as well that it could not really blend well tonally with the setting and tone, we could see an excessive amount of slo-mo in the project and the concern that this will see the rise again of the Snyder Cult who will deem anything he touches as being masterpieces and this being a better adaption over the original or of the genre (which seems to be very little in how they said it about that Rebel film duology). Now I had ideals on who would fit the choice better but I cannot remember them off the top of my head besides maybe Matt Reeves cause I know he is a massive fan of the original, but for the moment I will see what he does with the concept for the moment and make more of a decision once casting and concepts come into focus. At the moment with this, there is also no planned release date for this reboot of the film, but again once I hear anything I will update in a later episode.

Moving over to animation for this one new announcement, the concept of something strange and something weird may be occouring and it really don't look good, it will be to ask the question of really who are you going to call? As it looks like the grabpacks will be at the ready and the Ecto-1 will be fueled up as it was announced that an all new animated series based on the franchise of Ghostbusters, with the subtitle of Night Shift is in the works and will be distributed onto Netflix with a planned release for 2027. Now the ideal of an animated Ghostbusters project is not a new concept as we have seen some cartoons based on the films from the 80s, but with how Sony has been evolving animation in recent years and going off of the design and aesthetic of the Logo, I can see this possibly going the spider-verse route in the mixed media animation and personally I can see it work and if it worked to revitalize Spider-Man then I am sure it can jumpstart the appeal of Ghostbusters once more. Now it is unclear if this will follow on from the films in some way or if any of the cast of the films, whether Original, 2016 reboot or recent revivials will be involved, but once I hear anything about it I will provide it in a later episode as well.

The last of the stories we will focus on this week, will be one that is more of a reported leak concept, rather then a possible confirmed concept and this will be coming to us from the company that I love (even with some drama related to the brand in some other form) of LEGO. Now we have talked a fair share of sets and rumours from the likes of a new Mario Kart Build, a Tintin rocket, a large build Spongebob set just to name a few, but it looks like there is another set coming in soon that will be connected to another concept I talked on a little while ago and was just recently released a set on this IP just this week, as I am of course talking once again talking on the popular green ogre of Shrek, as while we have just gotten an all new set based on a large build of the character alongside Donkey, there seems to be a case we have what may be the first set concept based on the upcoming 5th film in this series and it seems to be the one many of us thought the first ideas set was going to be. Now according to these reported leaks, it seems we are getting a fully buildable set based on Shreks Swamp that will include a few unique easter eggs such as the keep out sign, outhouse and some other hidden secrets throughout and we also have the ideals of some of the minifigs that will be a part of it with it confirmed so far for Shrek, Fiona, their daughter Felica and some possible unique mold's for Gingy and Donkey. Now the ideals of some of the set may give a little bit of an idea of what to expect as it looks like a possible going away party for Felica or maybe all the triplets, but things seem unclear and I feel likely they will also be a part of the set as it may still seem like early days and not a finalized design yet. The ideals of a buildable version of the swamps seems very appealing and I hope this will be one of the many sets that could come from the range based on the franchise of films (even including some from the current Puss in Boots Duology) but I guess we will see what will come around the time of this films release. Now this is all just reported leaks and rumours so take this with a pinch of Salt, but once I can confirm on the likes of truth down the line, I will give the information in a later episode.

But what do you make of these stories, will you be checking out the backrooms sequel and what did you think of the first one, do you see the Escape from New York project as being a decent outcome, what approach to the animation will this new Ghostbusters series go with and will it follow returning or a new cast and what are your thoughts of this reportedly leaked LEGO Shreks swamp and what other locations from the films or other IPS do you want to see from this narrative? Let me know what your thoughts on them are down below

And now with all of that, this brings us to the end of the 171st edition of Weird Mind News Room and I hope you enjoyed these overlong rambles of mine as always. Let me know your thoughts on all that was discussed down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday and I will see you all in the next episode :)

Take care, keep being you, signing off
Sam H :)
