The Amazing Digital New Releases
Movies
Toy Story 5
For the first of the new releases for this week, it will be time to head over to my all time favourite studio in the realm of animation as it will be time once again for us all to return back to the days of our childhood as we head back to the toybox and reminisce on our old playthings of yesteryear, but it seems in the modern day that sense of an ordeal starts to become less and less and with the focus of this new item in mind, it could see that the age of toys may be coming to an end, or is it? As we are back with our favourite Toys once more as we finally have the release of the 5th entry of Toy Story. This will follow on from the events of the last film with Woody having left Bonnie to help abandoned toys find new owners with Bo and has made Jessie the leader of the toys with Buzz as her second-in-command. But soon the age of the Toys may be coming to an end as Bonnie has now become enamored of her new favourite plaything of a Frog-like tablet named Lilypad. Reception on this 5th entry, like the previous 4 films in this series, has been very well recieved with praise on the animation, the performances, the story, emotions, heart and humour and seen as a worthy entry in the series and proving that the quality of this franchise is still there and if you want to check it out for yourself and reminisce about childhood then you can check this film out now in cinemas.
Video Games
The Adventures of Elliot: The millennium Tales
On the side of video games for this week, things will be getting a little more whimsical and on a fantasy adventure that will tell quite the tales across the many centuries of the past and into the future as a new RPG tale will be taking place for you to explore as we have the release of The Adventures of Elliot The Millennium Tales. Set in a land known as Philabeildia known for many roaming beast, the player will control the title character and his fairy companion of Faie as you are tasked to explore some recently discovered ruins outside of the protective walls of humanitys last bastion where you will come across a powerful artifact known as the doorway of time and will connect the past and future to the present and will send you on a journey across space and time. Reception on this new title has been well recieved with praise on the visuals, gameplay and narrative and some even have compared to some titles like the Legend of Zelda and if you want to see it for yourself then you can play this title now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC.
Web Series / TV shows
The Amazing Digital Circus Finale: The Last Act / Remember
The last of the new releases in focus covers both a series in both tv and web and the case this conclusion to a show has had quite the rollercoaster of opinions initially leading up to this release from the planned cinema release, to the rumours and a full leak from one country that caused a divide, we have finally made it to the end of the journey and the stage is set for all to take their final bow as after 3 months since the last episode, we have the release of the Finale to The Amazing Digital Circus (AKA The last Act or Remember). Following the events of the conclusion of the previous episode, the circus is now dark and starting to fall apart and the cast is left with the traumas of their pasts to keep them company. As the prospect of eternity closes in around them, they will soon discover the truth and the history of the digital circus and will decide if they will come to terms with the truth that they will discover or will they choose.... the other option. Reception on this finale has had quite the array of opinions, especially when the episode leaked, though it seems with this finale release this week, it has seen more of a more positive outcome with a little bit of mixed with praise on the animation, voice acting, narrative and for tying up some lingering questions seen across the series, even if some issues stem from a bit feeling a little rushed and the ending can be a little mixed to some in the outcome. Now I did see this when it released in cinemas (in a full screen to myself) and then watched it live with a group on Twitch I hosted and it was quite a sendoff and I shall not lie I did get emotional from both watches and will from watching again (and will be reviewing this real soon too) and if you want to see where it all comes to an end (who knows maybe we'll see a return) then you can watch the full series now on YouTube and Netflix.
Trailer Story
Shrek 5
It really seems like an animated heavy first half of this week as we are heading into trailers and the first one was a title I was not expecting to see a trailer or teaser this early for after its last delay but it seems that they have some potential to get hope and appeal for this franchise that I am sure has a fair few layers for the approach of the release, as everyones favourite Big Green Ogre is back once again as we have recieved the first trailer for the upcoming 5th film of Shrek. Now while the plot details have not been given, the trailer gives some indication that Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Shrek's 2 sons will be off on a journey to a new place called Further, Further Away to help rescue or find out what has happened to their daughter and return home safely, and I am sure that a fair amount of Hijinks will ensue. So it has been about 16 months since we last saw any sense of a focus to this new entry of the series and it has been said that the opinions on this have been a lot to say the least for this follow up from the decade and a half to develop it, the appeal back for it after the great Puss in Boots sequel and then the big debate being the slightly altered designs of the main cast that personally after a while I will not complain on that much, it would be what they would look like from the 4K style animation going on lately (plus I would say its my theory of it still be reverse Disney where DW were more realistic then Disney that were cartoonish at first but now its reverse with both). Personally I do not mind this new look and I feel it could have some appeal and a fun adventure and to look past the slightly tweaked design that he still looks the same anyway but I am sure we will get used to the look in due time as this film will be making its way into cinemas from the 30th of June next year.
Disney Hexed
But speaking of Disney, our 2nd trailer for this week will see a bit of something spellbinding, magical and in some case will also see a bit of a drama filled outcome of discussion (which seems like the norm these days and some of them are a bit unnecessary of a thing) but in this regards they seems to wishing up a spell in this regards as we have finally gotten the first look at the upcoming yearly animated released from Disney with the trailer for Hexed. The film follows Billie (Hailee Steinfeld), an impulsive and unconventional teenage girl, discovers she has magical abilities that take her from Suburbia into Hexe, a realm of Witches. With her cautious mother Alice, she investigates family secrets that connect to the world of witches. Now I do have the say the look of the title from the characters and the hidden world does look pretty appealing and interesting and I will not fault them on that part, the real sense of this drama that this film has caused with a fair amount of people online is due to people comparing this title to another project from them and that was with The Owl House, which was a very popular show but was cancelled by Disney cause it was full of Diversity and a same sex relationship and the contrasts of the magical world and the sense of witchcraft focus has caused a lot of divide. Now I do see both sides to this and I will say it is too early to really judge the title (which seems also like a norm these day, if you are not interested we get it, but don't try and ridicule those that are excited for it, be respectful) and I feel it could appeal and make Disney realize the mistake of the Owl House ending on their own terms but I guess we will see by its release from the 27th of November.
Spider-Man Brand New Day
The last of the trailers for this week is in the focus of some superheroics as it will be time to return to a character who has been quiet for a fair few years, which does make a little sense as everyone in that world forgot who he is, but in this case we will be catching up on what they have been up to for the last bit of time and see that some changes are happening that could be a major affect on him mentally, as we have what I see as the 2nd and final trailer for the upcoming 4th MCu entry for this character with Spider-Man Brand New Day. Following the events of the spell that Doctor Strange casted at the end of No Way Home, the world has now forgotten that Peter Parker exists and is the identity of Spider-Man. Four Years Later, he protects the city of New York as the iconic wall crawler but soon the overwhelming pressure of crime fighting ignites a threatening physical evolution in Peter, forcing him to deal with that while also investigating a series of crimes that lead to a more powerful threat. It has definitely been quite an array for this hero himself over the last little while, especially with seeing another entry for this hero in the evergrowing saga and it really seems they are going all in on it being worth the wait from the likes of some other Marvel character appearances including Punisher and a return to savage Hulk, to some other new additions that are being kept secret and looking to possibly tease a transformation for Spidey, either from a Symbiote infusion or a possible Man Spider transformation (if they have the balls to do so) but it really does seem like we are in for something that has everyone excited for the MCU but I am sure we will see by the release of this film into cinemas from the 31st of July.
You got the News from Me
the array of tales, casts and projects across the globe
So the good news for you all is that it will not be a massive News section this week as we are all done with the new form of the E3 period behind us now (until the next solo presentations down the line) but we do have a selection of stories for the focus of the Hodge Podge of media news to focus and cover on that will consist in the area of mostly casting and project updates and announcements to focus on and there is a bit of a near balance on both sides but let us see what was unveiled for this week.
So we will start on the side of casting and initially I was going to talk on this one last week but I felt to wait on this to not overdo the length even more on that last entry but it is time to talk on another mystery to be solved but in this case heading a little abroad as we have some casting news in relation to the upcoming 6th season of the popular comedy murder mystery series of Only Murders in the Building that will be taking a trip across the pond to London (where they are currently filming as of writing this episode). Now like with any of this shows seasons, besides our main core trio and some other residents of the Arconia, they often have a selection of guest star appearances and while we have had 1 or 2, this one is bringing out the big guns with not 2 or 5 but 21 confirmed guest stars appearing in this upcoming 6th season with the cast consisting of 1 half of French and Saunders with Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale (Skins), Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Amar Chadha-Patel (Willow), Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper), Matthew Beard (Imitation Game), Sharon Hogan (Motherland), Gerri Halliwell Horner (Ginger Spice), Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag), Anjana Vasan (Wicked Little Letters), Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous), Derek Jacobi (Gladiator), Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey), David Tennant (Doctor Who), Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls), Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), Jim Broadbent (Paddington), Richard Ayoade (I.T Crowd), Adrian Lukis (Pride and Prejudice) and Kathryn Hunter (Poor Things). Now that is quite the selection of names and of Irish, British and international talent all set to make an appearance on the upcoming season and it nearly makes me think if this will be a sort of final season by going all out with the guest star list, but I feel it is unlikely to happen at the moment and I feel we will see a continuing narrative beyond this hopefully and wonder what type of character they will be playing and how they will be connected in some way to the newest victim of the season but I guess we will find out in due time. Now I am unsure if there is more names planned for the series or if we will see this next season by the years end but I am sure we will see in due course, but once I hear anything I will provide it in a later episode.
On the next of the casting focus will be the first of some gaming adaption news of castings and the first one will be taking up a sense of being the one that created a man that is all for causing major carnage and destruction for the purpose of entertainment in this world of all out car wrecking chaos as it was announced that a new casting has been made for the upcoming 3rd season of Twisted Metal and it is with Luke Skywalker himself of Mark Hamill, who has been cast in the role of being the father to Sweet Tooth. The ideals of this casting is an interesting one and I do wonder in some form is if this is an all new made character or a character that has appeared in some form in the gaming series itself in a previous entry of the series but I still think its an interesting casting to the series and could appeal in the likes of a series that was at first a bit uncertain in appeal but came out surprisingly entertaining so I guess we will see. Now at the moment we are unsure of if there is anyone else planned for this new season and when we can expect it as well, but once I hear anything about it all I will provide it in a later episode.
The next of the casting stories for this week is with a focus to a realm of fantasy and its a case that while we are preparing for a return to that world with a different fantasy location next week, we are focused to the world and lore that inspired that entry for the upcoming title in that regards as we have some news in relation to casting on the newest film in the Lord of the Rings series as it was announced this week that actress Anya Taylor Joy will be joining the upcoming title of The Hunt for Gollum. Now not much is known on her character other then the case that she will be playing a High elf known as Senan, and I guess will connect to the likes of some of the other characters of that race in Middle Earth and could be connected with the likes of Legolas and the other elves in this world. Personally I have not much of an issue with this casting as she has proven that she fits in well to the realm of fantasy from previous films and titles of that setting and I will be interested to see what she will bring to this title and the world of Middle Earth. Now I am sure we will get a proper look at the character once the films goes deeper into production but I am sure if anything else is confirmed or others are added to the series then I will let you know in a later episode.
The last of the casting news is with the 2nd edition of casting in the realm of Video game adaptions and this one will still be in the setting of a post apocalypse, but more in the world full of vaults, jumpsuits and massive mechs as there has been an announcement of a trio of new casting additions for the upcoming 3rd season in the Fallout tv adaption with the confirmation of Manny Jacinto (Star Wars The Acolyte), Emily Mortimer (Paddington in Peru) and Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho) have been announced to be joining this series in the ever growing cast of this series. Now it seems like it is unclear of who they will likely portray in the show as it could be some familiar faces from the series of games, some other vault dwellers from a different Vault in the wasteland or maybe someone completely original for the series in a form of ally or antagonist, but I guess we will have to see what will come of this as they plan to prepare to start filming later this month. I am sure we will get an idea of who they are in due time as well as who else may be cast in this upcoming season and its planned release, but once I hear anything else I will provide it in a later episode.
Now on the side of some project announcements and updates, this first one was quite a surprising one to see being made in all regards for a lot of reasons but I guess after their hear grew three sizes they seem to be fine to return back again for more as it was announced this week that we are getting a sequel to the Live action take on the Grinch and it was confirmed that both Jim Carrey will be back as the titular character and the film will be directed by the original films director of Ron Howard. Now I am surprised in the case for 2 reasons with this as firstly I thought that Carrey had retired from acting (bar of course when Paramount comes calling with another Sonic the Hedgehog movie script) and the other would be surprised for him to get back in the makeup chair for that suit as from interviews and discussing the process it was a nightmare to deal with, so unless he is putting up with the makeup again or they are going in an approach of a more VFX heavy focus to the look, it is unclear as of right now. I do wonder what will come from this sequel in the likes of this will be an adaption of the other Grinch short of Halloween night is Grinch time or if it will be a new original of Grinch being a father and husband and some other new creature has caused a problem for Whoville that he has to stop or maybe will find his real family, but it is hard to say right now, but it could be worth seeing what will come from this project itself. Now it is all early days and we have no idea of when we will see this but I am sure once I hear anything about this I will provide it in a later episode.
For the next of the project announcements or updates, we have a focus of an update to the project of a director who has been a little quiet on their end in terms of what is next for them and that is with the actor turned Award winning director Jordan Peele. Now Peele's last directed film was with 2022's Nope (a film I still want to give a review on in that regards) and since then it has been a bit of a journey to hear of when we can expect his next directed project (as he has been a producer on a few films like Monkey Man and Him) as it was initially set for December 2024 and then pushed to October 23rd this year before it was removed from the calendar at a point in time last year and many had wondered when we will hear anything? Well thankfully some news has finally come around about it as it seems Peele is on track again and has finally crafted a concept and story that has appealed to him in this regards as the film that was planned for this year was scrapped as the concept was not really working for him and it seems now we have hope for his 4th directed film is well on the way and its one I am excited to check out as I really enjoy his films that he has released so far and am interested to see the concept on what it is, or if it will connect to some previous entry as I know he wants to return to the world of Nope in some capacity so I guess we will see in due time. For now all we can do is speculate on it all and try and figure out when we can expect to see this film and who will be in it, but once I hear anything new about it then I will provide it in a later episode.
The last of the project announcements is from another director that was making a name for themselves around the same time that Peele was also making a name in the industry and that was with the director of Ari Aster, the man behind Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau is Afraid and Eddington. Now it has been a case that earlier this week we have gotten a bit about their next project as some news has come out about the plot concept for his next film known as Scapegoat and the concept of the plot feels a little of a lot to discuss. The narrative seems to be a focus that the main lead, which in this case is Scarlet Johansson playing a surgeon who must perform where she is tasked to perform a surgery on a character that has been described as a Jake Paul type (and saying that already hurts), but complications in the surgery cause their death and soon the film will follow the fallout and scrutiny of the death by the characters wife and brother who are supposed to be inspired by Logan Paul and Erika Kirk. Now this sounds like a basic premise but the use of the choices in the focus death and their relatives just makes it feel a bit overwhelming as I will say this, I do not like any of these people. The Paul Brothers are obnoxious for many reasons and then Ms Kirk has been a little insane since the assassination of her husband almost a year ago (and trust me seeing uncensored video of that assassination and her very unsettling response to things after like forgiving the killer, being pissed off at someone asking a simple question and trying to advocate for being a mother but really neglecting her kids) so seeing this as the template will probably be a lit to take on and I hope it will be a case this director will be more of not being a fan of those people then being a supporter of them cause it just seems a bit mad. Now the case will be that I am sure it could be a decent watch and Aster's films have been known to get more and more weirder as they release so I am sure it will have some indepth focus to it all but I guess we will see by then. Now there is no planned release yet or who they have in mind to star as these other characters, but once I hear anything new I will provide it in a later episode as well.
The last of the stories in focus is only a very brief update announcement on the side of video games and it is a case of a title that many people are very excited about and have been waiting for any form of reveal but on Thursday of this week after many months of waiting for anything new, we got the official reveal of the GTA 6 cover and the announcement that the pre-orders for the game will be going live from the 25th of June, so next Thursday. Honestly it feels a bit surreal that we have made it this far already in the likes of this game that seeing a release for pre-orders is quite something. Now the only thing not mentioned was the likes of the price for the game or if there is a planned gold or special edition for the title as of yet, but likely I feel it will cost around the average price of games currently, which will be about €70-80 and still set for a release in Mid November (and I have seen a lot of companies announced a day off for many locations due to many booking time off for that day as well) but I am sure we can see by the end of next week on that (and likely will be an ideal to pre-order myself, just to decide if to order for delivery or collection) but I am sure we will see by its release of pre-orders come Thursday.
But what are your thoughts on these stories, do you see this as being the last of the cast for season 6 or will there be more and which of them do you see as the killer, what are your thoughts on the casting of Hamill in Twisted Metal, Will Anya Taylor Joy fit in well to the world of Middle Earth, who do you think those 3 new additions will play in Fallout, will you be watching the new Grinch sequel, what do you think the concept of Peele's next story will be, does Aster's plot sound interesting or does it feel a little excessive and will you be preordering GTA 6 on Thursday or waiting until nearer to launch to buy? Let me know what you think down below.
And with all of that regards, that ends a more shorter but entertaining week or Weird Mind News Room and I do hope that you enjoy the ramblings for another week. Let me know your thought on all down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day and I will see you all in the next episode :)
