*Music to find hope in a dying place*
Well hello again to each and everyone of you wonderful people across the information superhighway, my name as always is Sam and I welcome you once again to another episode of my weekly series of Weird Mind News Room where for another week I am here to bring you info on New Releases, Trailers and News from across the media landscape (and will unlikely be a lost episode to the ACME Corporation. So lets not waste time on these intros and lets get to talking on all things media we have for this week.
New Release stars
Movies
The Dog Stars
The first new release this week will be in a form of a new adaption from a long in the industry director who will be making a case of showing that in this world of ours when things may see an ends, a possible signal out in the distance may provide signs there is still hope in a world of decay as we have the release of his new film in the adaption of The Dog Stars. Now based on the novel by Peter Heller, the film is set in a world after the events of a devastating Flu Pandemic that has almost eradicated humanity and will follow Hig (Jacob Elordi), a civilian pilot, and Bangley (Josh Brolin), a hardened Ex Marine as they confront outside threats and hold onto the possibility of a better life beyond where they currently live when they search for a signs of a mysterious radio transmission. Reception on this new film has been a very mixed reception with praise on the performances and cinematography, though the films narrative and concept may be a little heavy in that regards but I am sure there is some that will appeal to the adaption and if you want to check it out for yourself then you can watch it now in Cinemas.
One Night Only
Now this next film is one that we have seen the concept where something would only be seen as legal for one evening a year, but where we have seen the case of a series where doing crime and murder is made legal, this is more in the side of the ideal that its the one time when everyone can do one thing and that is fucking and with these 2 in focus a sense of unexpected events will draw them together when they can as we have the release of the new film of One Night Only. The film follows Owen (Callum Turner) a man recently dumped from a relationship who will come into contact with Hopeful Romantic Allie (Monica Barbaro) who may be the only two remaining singles in the city looking for more then a quick encounter. They both feel a spark when they meet, but a sense of missteps and side quests complicates their night, keeping them apart. As they race toward and away from each other, they might discover that the one thing they want most is closer then they think. Reception on this film has also been a bit more of a mixed outcome as while the leads are likeable, the concept and plot can get a little bit convoluted and messy in the overall outcome, but if you want to check it out for yourself then you can also check this out now in cinemas.
Video Games
Resonance a Plague Tale Legacy
Moving over to the games for this week will be in the focus to a narrative and world that will be in the focus perspective of some tales of the past that may show the perspective of a plague and major cause of human demise being a little more extravagant and in this case will be caught in a timeline of 2 points in time that will affect each other in the process as we are returning to a world of a dangerous plague from rodents as we have the all new title of this popular series with Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. The game is set 15 years before the events of Requiem in 1334 and will focus in 2 different time period of the Middle ages and the Minoan period and will follow Sophia, a smuggler who will discover her connection to the Prima Macula's Ancient History and what they will do in the Minoan Past will change major elements of the events in the present of the Middle Ages. Reception on this new title like the previous 2 have been very well recieved with praise on the dual timeline narratives, characters and the implementation of Action based elements alongside the stealth focused gameplay of the first 2. and if you want to change how the future turns out then you can play it now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Star Wars Zero Company
The 2nd game for this week will be in the focus and ordeal in the realm of heading to a galaxy Far Far Away where it will be back to a time of a great war and conflict and will see in this case that a group of strange and colourful characters will be the key to defending the galaxy from dangers and turn the tide of the conflict as we have the release of the all new game based in the Star Wars universe with the title of Zero Company. The game is set during the era of the Clone Wars and will see you take on the role of Hawks, the leader of a group known as Zero Company that consist of a group of misfits and mercenaries as you are tasked with protecting the galaxy against an emerging threat. Reception on this new title has also seen some well recieved reception with praise on the gameplay, narrative characters and variety of choice to provide a new appeal to this series of games and world of the IP and if you are ready to take the fight to them then you can play it now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Metal Gear Solid The Master Collection Vol.2
The last of the new releases and games for this week will of course bring us a return to a series of titles with a new updated form and fresh coat of paint and while we also see a release of a world of the Tarnished coming to all consoles and a first for the Nintendo Handheld (which has also been well recieved in their attempt in making it work) this other collection of titles have kept us waiting for this next edition of this series as coming out about 3 years following Vol.1 we are back with the 2nd Volume of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. This new collection will provide the next batch of titles from the Popular series of Snake's many adventures including the acclaimed Guns of the Patriots (the first time it has left from the PS3 era) and Peacewalker bringing another duo of titles showing the Big Boss's early and also his final mission to modern platforms. Reception on this new volume has been also well recieved with praise on the updated visuals and mechanics and the appeal of these titles from their original consoles perfectly adapted for the modern hardware and if you are ready to explore more of the titles and hope for any missing ones in a volume 3 then you can play it now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 1 and 2 and PC.
Trailers to keep you waiting huh?
Grand Theft Auto VI
This first trailer of the week is a title and new look that many of us have been waiting a very long time to finally be given a proper look to a title who's new entry has taken 13 years since the last one released to be seeing the light of day and after a few delays, a couple of titles in between and an ordeal of leaks and gaps between footage, we finally are brought back to a proper full look at the world of Leonida and a return to Vice City as we have the release of the paywall but 6 hour later release of the extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI. The plot was also given with the trailer with the game set in Vice city and you will play as Jason and Lucia who have always known that the deck was stacked against them, but when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida - forced to rely on each other more then ever if they want to make it out alive. I will have to say the likes of this title for me has been one of an up or down ordeal of excitement as it started with great interest when it was first reported and that initial trailer dropped, then some delays caused on online ordeal but one that was not an affect to me, then a part of me lost some appeal in the affect of it being a digital only version and many like myself complained of a lack of disc (that could still be a possible disc version in the future and what I feel led to one of the biggest gaming controversies of this year) but after this gameplay reveal I have gotten a lot more of an interest to it all. It looks visually stunning and I can appreciate it taking elements of the titles of their past games like the dead eye and interactive aspects of Red Dead 2, the weight systems of San Andreas, the more realism of GTA4 and the enhanced Graphical Detail of 5 but amplified and there is so much more from added realism, visuals and it feeling like a rich vibrant world. Now its not perfect as I do have my own nitpicks that besides the no disc in the physical version, 2 major complaints I have is the UI looks really generic and lacking something and feels there is way too much negative space from the likes of the weapon wheel and hopefully is improved in the final game, the minimap look feels strange, especially with the 3D building elements) and the other aspect is Jason's voice that for some reason feels really changed from the first trailers that me and someone else I care about feel they sound really off and doesn't fit the character tonally but maybe we can see it better in game but I have no idea. I am sure there is some other bits or else I am judging things a little too much but overall I am excited for this and I will be making sure I give this game a full playthrough and streaming of it and I know many of us will be as well when the return to Vice city begins on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19th.
ALI G: Who Iz I?
The 2nd trailer for this week is with a return to a character we have not seen much in the flesh since around the mid 2000s and its one of those created by the actor creating eccentric and often controversial characters from a Dictator and Gay fashion designer and his most well known of a journalist that brings great success to nation of Kazakhstan, but this time its return of the freshest G in the business to see what they have been up to in the last 2 decade as we have a trailer for the new mockumentary film of Ali G Who Iz I? The film will see the return of Ali G and will follow a documentary crew across a year of his life to see what he has been up to since we last saw him in the initial film and tv series and will deal with changing culture, fashion and trends, while also dealing with the ordeals of discovering his girlfriend is 8 months Pregnant. Now I remember elements of this character in some iterations over the years from small clips here and there but I would be more accustomed to the character that was also introduced in the show of Borat more but there is an interest to see how they would tackle the character in the modern era as I feel this character would fit in well in some form in the modern climate and it has the usual tropes of a Baron Cohen comedy that it could be an interesting watch. I know the likes of the actors recent ordeals have been a mixed bag but maybe we can look past it but I guess we will see how outlandish and crazy this will be with the release of this film into cinemas from the 23rd of October.
The Social Reckoning
The last of the trailers for this week will be a focus to delve into the focus of the lives of some other people and in this case a follow up to something that may not need a follow-up and in the case the first one gave a focus of something that brought people together in a connection around the world with this new one showing the major affects and issues that come from this website and how it causes major elements that can cause some pain and concern to it all and it will be a story that exposes the suffering this can foretell as we have recieved a trailer for the follow up of the Social Network with The Social Reckoning. Now based on the memoir from the Wall Street Journal from 2021, the film will focus on Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison) and Wall Street journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White) as they blow the whistle on the social networks most guarded secrets hidden by the head of the company of Mark Zuckerberg (Jeremy Strong). I believe I talked on this the first time a trailer for this came out that I wonder if we needed a follow up to that first film as the original was very well recieved with it garnering some awards and in the case of while I can get the idea of it making sense that it has been about 15 years since that first film and so much has happened with Facebook that I can see it as being the focus that makes sense to do but I feel if it still is. The writing can feel a bit odd and I will still say that Strong's uncanny resemblance to the Zuck (even to the near alien lizard face that he has) is really well done but I feel they are trying to do a lighting striking twice in success but I guess we will see to that outcome in due time with the film being uploaded into cinemas from the 9th of October.
News for a possible legacy
The news for all the gamescom can provide
So it was a bit of time before I realized and forgot that its that time of year again for this event and it was in the focus that on Tuesday evening we have a focus to this years edition of a showcase of the opening night of the Gamescom event going on in Germany and I may as well go through the event itself to talk on all that was announced in one that I felt was a little underwhelming and was missing some titles that have been very quiet about it all but let us delve into all that was unveiled at the event.
So the event started off with a title known as Nodus Fall that was seen as a title that had a lot of really great visuals and images across the title and as a bit of a soulsbourne game, however since its unveiling their has been a fair amount of people saying its taking and copying designs of some of the creatures and bosses from the titles of From Software like Elden Ring and Dark Souls but I am sure there will be a bit of a mixed opinion on it all but I am sure they can clear it up or be seen as a copy of those bosses by its release on some consoles and PC sometime in the future.
We then headed over to a game series that come along with a new title every couple of years as a new game in the Rainbow 6 series has been unveiled with Tactics that will be a team based top down strategy game that will see you work your way through an ordeal to save a hostage, take out the enemy and complete the mission with little casualties overall and I am sure there will be some appeal to a new take on this title overall and I am sure there is a fanbase ready to lock and load when the game releases in 2027.
Then it was time to head over to one of the biggest titles to be exclusive to the modern XBox console with the newest title of Gears of War with E-Day with a new story trailer showing us the game being set 14 years before the first title in the series and show what made the team and character that everyone knows and loves and seeing where the invasion and war all began and I have to say from what I have heard of the beta and everything there is a lot of appeal to it all and I am sure there will be something worth playing when the battle begins on October 6th.
Then I believe the first of the Anime based titles of the event will be a focus of the new game of Ananta that will see you find yourself exploring a selection of 2 locations from a previous stomping ground and new city as you become an influencer, do battle with a form of Martial Arts and save the day in the process in this game that has a bit of a action packed and goofy side to it all that I am sure will have an appeal to some when the game launches on January 15th next year.
It was then taking a trip to a place that feels eerily familiar in the past and being seen in an all new location and that is with a new brief look at the upcoming new Silent Hill title of Townfall which unveiled some of the cast of characters that you will come across on the title as you try and find out what happened to this small portside town and the eerie secrets hiding in the fog that I hope will see the series back on track but I am sure we can see by its release on September 24th.
The next title shown was the launch trailer for the new Plague tale but following this was an all new title and look at the newest game of Sea of Remnants that I always keep thinking this is Sea of Thieves game but it looks like its inspired by it and focused on a lot of fast based action heavy gameplay across the high seas and everything in between that I am sure may be an interesting title to try out when it releases in the future but the pre-registration will be available to partake.
Next was an update to Crimson Desert but we move to the next game that has been a while since I heard anything about it and was glad to see it pop up again with the game of Tides of Annihilation which is a new fantasy soulsborne like RPG set in a modern day Apocalyptic London that interested me when it was first announced a bit over a year ago and just from the look and visuals have me invested to give it a try and it seems to be a decently well crafted title that I am sure will be worth trying when it releases sometime in the future.
We were then introduced to one of the developers of the next game that was known as the title being unveiled of Lofsong where you will play a small child in a strange bit of attire as you explore this remnants of an strange lost future and using the solving of puzzles and from the exploration to unravel and uncover a lost language hidden in the stone and sounds around you. The idea does sound really interesting and will be something that's giving me an Inside vibe to it all and I am interested to try this out in the future when this title is released.
Then it was time for a bit of a blast to the past as we got an all new look at the newest title of the popular Megaman series of Dual Override as you stop a selection of classic and new adversaries and obtain their powers and stop the plans of Dr Wily once more and most was showing off one of the new Robot Masters and a bit of gameplays and visuals that I feel a return to this classic series is probably worth a try but I am sure we will see by its release in 2027, though if you want to have some Megaman fix, the also announce in the trailer that some special skins for Hugh and Diana of Pragmata would be made available of the day of the event which is a nice addition.
Then it was a title of a character I am excited to give a try and play again real soon as we got an all new brief look at the new remake of Rayman Legends where they gave a focus of one of the all new music levels as we knew of the Can't touch this level and now the reveal of a 2nd new music stage to their new take on the Macarena which I feel fits in the world of Rayman that just works and even still I am very excited to give this a full on try of one of my favourite titles and hopefully will get a proper follow up game from this success by its release on October 1st.
It was then a focus to either an all new entry in the series or an all new update for the popular series of PUBG with the focus on Ded.Net that has a focus of the usual Battle Royale with a mix of the all out conflict with a bit more of a weird trippy elements and powers to battle to be the winner winner chicken dinner and while a official release has yet to be given, you can sign up now for the closed beta to try it out nearer to when it does become available.
It was then a brief look at Once Human before we got an all new look at the upcoming sequel to the remedy title of Control that will see you face off against some corrupted creatures in a twisted and warped Manhattan and question if this is real and the concept if your mind has not snapped and it does seem like this could be another hit for the studio and hopefully will be a worthy successor to the original but I am sure we will see by its release on September 24th.
Immediately following resonant we get what I see as the launch trailer for the all new entry of the Dawnwalker series with a focus on some story and some of the all out action that the game will have in store as you get your revenge against the undead that cursed you centuries ago and keep you blood lust in tact in the process and I am sure we can get a clear idea on how it will turn out with the title dropping next week on September 3rd.
It is then a battle is brewing to rule over all of the seven kingdoms as we got some gameplay reveal of the Game of Thrones War for Westeros as you strategize and build an army across the families and kingdoms all in the way to decide the outcome on who will sit and rule on the Iron Throne that I am sure there is some appeal to a few that may give this a try when its released for PC sometime next year.
Then we shall head to the deepest parts of space or underground to a title of a new game reveal of Dust Origins that will see you unleash a storm of bullets on a repertoire of creatures, monsters and demons all in the case of finding an escape or dying in the process and some of these game have their fun in bursts that I may give a look to when it drops in the future.
We were then given a new look at the title of Exodus of some space marines, including a mech controlled by an intelligent Octopus named Salt looking to find a solution to ending the conflict and finding an answer and restoring what is left of their worlds and it does look decent, there seems to be a bit of a solid story to it and it could be worth trying out and I am sure we can with an official date for this now set for April 7th Next year.
Then we got one of the only guest appearances from the event of Lady D herself of Maggie Robinson coming out to reveal an extended gameplay look at an all new title based on the world of Dungeons and Dragons with Warlock that will have you playing as her character of Kaatri as you harness and wield some dark and powerful magic as you bend the will of the world to your own form and it seems like a bit of a single player narrative could be an interesting approach to this magical world itself and i am sure will be worth an in depth look and try when the game drops sometime next year.
Then we were given the reveal of an all new title of 1001 Threads of Mizan that will be a focus to the world of a fantastical world set all in the Arabian Desert that has some strange and powerful creatures and monsters to do battle against and a bit of a souls like title in this setting seems like a bit of an interesting world and ideals of it could be worth giving a try to and I will be interested in checking this out by its release sometime in the future.
Then I believe the only other anime based title of the event was with the game of Silver Palace that looks a bit like a horror game with elements of action and a detective Noir story thrown in there as well and it seems like it could be an interesting mix that I am not fully sure on but I will give a chance to it when it releases in the future.
Then I think the only mobile title of the event as well was shown off with a new title in the Monster Hunter series with Outlanders as you will do battle across a bast land and take on powerful beasts and Monsters and reclaim this land as your own that I am sure will appeal to fans of the series and while no release date has been given you can pre-register to do so now.
Then some of the developers for this next title came out and talked a little on this upcoming entry and lead into some new gameplay at the next Metro game of 2039 taking us a few years into the future and preparing to do battle against a new powerful figure gone corrupt with power and trying to change the way of the land and the society in the underground communities and end up on a sort of very trippy journey of being haunted by your past and while I have yet to experience the full series bar the first title it so far looks really solid and I am sure it will be well worth a return to this ruined lands when this releases sometime in February.
Then it will be a return to the world of Assassination as we have the focus of an all new elusive target for Hitman as you will take on the Herbalist which will see you take down the OG Gangster of Snoop Dogg that will be quite the target and you can play it now but you only have to the end of September to do so, so you best get to it.
It was then a bit of a focus of some gameplay and footage of the sequel to Aion as you head out on a vast world to find your place in this fantasy land and I am sure if there was appeal to the original then I am sure that the fans will be back for more with this follow up when it releases from the 5th of October.
It was then given the reveal of a new title known as Afterworld where it was a focus to a land that gas a bit of a Mad Max style land that will see you rise the ranks and rule over the restoring of Civilization after a devastating downfall of society from the past and it an interesting ideal that giving a fair bit of focus and dedication to it could be something worth trying out which I guess we can see by its release sometime in the future.
Then likely the only cozy sim that I can see from this event was with an all new look at the title of Petit Planet that will see you take the reigns of your little cutesy anime character and create your own little world to build friendships and relationship bonds to and build in how you see fit and there is a lot of appeal and visual splendor to it all that I am sure will have its appeal to those that like the usual cozy sims with this one set to be created into the world from winter of this year.
Then I hoped for a focus of this IP to be made a presence at this event though the title I was hoping for was not the one that was presented at the event as they showed off the launch trailer for the sequel to the Aliens Fireteam elite game where it will focus on the co-op battle as you take the fight to the perfect organism and you must lay waste to it with your powerful weapons and I am sure with a bit of an improvement on the stuff that was a mixed bag in the first title then I am sure there will be an appeal for those to try it out with the title now available to play.
Then we are heading back to the past with a bit of a supernatural focus as we got a new look at the title of 1666 Amsterdam where you will partake in a bit of witchcraft and from the looks of this title you can also play as a cat which I see as a good investment in trying it out and whether they have fixed the issues of the use of possible AI in the title is unclear at the moment but I am sure we can see for ourselves with the title now entering early access before the full release later this year or sometime in the future.
Then a title I initially thought was that Stranger than Heaven game turned out to be a different title of Showa American Story that will be a open world RPG set in a alternate history US that has been radically changed by the cultural influence and economics of Japan which I can see as being an interesting blend of things for a title like this and could be something I may look into when the title releases sometime later this year.
Then the real gamers game was shown off with the title of Road Kings which is of course a Truck simulator that will see you of vast deliveries and journeys across vast parts of the open world and through many weather conditions that I have tried a few simulators in my time and I am sure there will be appeal with this and you can head out on the road with the title now set for release on March 11th next year.
It nearly feels now like every decade we return to a concept like this but it looks like the spiritual successor of Rock Band and Guitar Hero has been revealed with Studio Tour that will see you rock out to hundreds of tracks and songs all to the coordination of the colours by guitar and drums and seeing it back I welcome in this day and age (and will cost a bit of cash) but I would be all for trying this out when it drops on December 10th.
Then its time to rev up the engines once more as we got an all new look at the newest iteration of Crazy Taxi with World tour and in the focus has announced that their will be some Multiplayer co-op options with you doing battle to be the best and earn the most funds in customer satisfaction and I am sure will be an interesting take to give it a try when the title releases sometime next year.
Then a return to another IP series will be in the focus of the newest title of Turok Origins that gave a focus of the Story that will be in focus of this upcoming new entry that will see the warriors of the far future and the past will be colliding to battle against the pre-historic creatures and against one another that I am sure could be worth seeing how it all comes about and this could be worth trying when the title drops next spring.
Then things will be getting ruff and ready as they unveiled a new title known as Gravhounds that will see you take on dog soldiers where you and up to 3 other players will build a base, extract many different resources and escape the planet before you become alien food and the idea seems like it could be interesting to see how it plays when the title releases in early access later this year.
Then the world of the popular city builder and the worlds popular building toy have combined together for an all new title as they unveiled and announced a LEGO Skylines game that will see you build and manage the city that you desire to make and I am sure that the combination makes the most sense overall and I am sure will be worth checking out when the title releases sometime in the future.
Then from Skylines to how we get around, we got a look at the newest entry of the Transport Fever series as you manage and control all forms of Planes, Trains and Automobiles acorss the globe that I am sure will have its appeal to control (or bring chaos to) and will be ready to deploy when the title drops on the 29th of September.
It will then be time to hit the cosmos and clock in for work as we have the focus of a new game known as Exterminauts that will see you as a space cleaning crew as you do battle against Alien creature, clean up with the resources and find and use them to make the planet more inhabitable for your kind and safe from Alien threats and the ideals of it feels like Helldivers and Lethal Company mixed with a little bit of Powerwash Sim (possibly) but I am sure it could appeal to try when the title drops sometime in the future.
Then they showed off a confirmation of Path of Exile going 1.0 on December 11th but we will move to the next unveiling of a remake to the popular 3rd entry of Heroes of Might and Magic where you will be down to strategize and prepare to do battle to defend your kingdom and be the ultimate ruler of all the world that I am sure getting a return to the title with the updated visuals may appeal to some and I guess we will find out by its release sometime in the future.
We were then given a reveal of a new game of Nolaw that will see you take on a corrupt system in a near future Cyberpunk Neon city as you take control of Grey Harker, a marine that wants a normal life after suffering bad injuries in conflict and will see you now take it into your own hands to have that life and it seems like an interesting and enjoyable world to explore when the title will be geared up and ready for its release next year.
We have another new title joining the ever growing roster of 3v3 based fighters with the unveiling of Project Zeta that will have a bit of a fantasy element mixed with some aspects of Anime and Asian culture aesthetics that I am sure may have its appeal but I guess we will find out by its release in the near future.
It was then given a focus to the title of Cinder City that will be a narrative based title that will be set in a near future Seoul where some ancient aliens from the far reaches of the cosmos appear one day and cause a shift and change in the fabric of reality and soon will have you team up with allies and push back against a dangerous looming threat and reclaim your lives once more and the narrative does sound like an interesting one and I am sure it will have some appeal to it and will give a better look to it when it releases in the future.
We then got an all new look at the newest title from the developers of Soma with Ontos that will focus on a trippy sense of gameplay aboard a stranded spacecraft or space station on a moon and start to get some assistance from someones conscience made up of a wall of trapped rodents and it seems like it could be quite a trippy one and while I was a little mixed on Soma at first maybe a trip around again on that title and this may appeal a bit more but I am sure we can get a better idea of it before its release sometime next year.
The next title in focus was with a focus of a new look at the sequel of Panda Island that will see you travel across a strange and mysterious land and wood as you use some ancient looking USB device to access some mysterious Arcade Machines seen across the land in order to change the world around you and find a way to escape this place and I am sure there will be a reason for these weird ordeals when the title releases now on April 27th next year.
We then got a new look at some gameplay at the new title of Zoopunk that will see you take the roles of a Hare, Chipmunk, Rhino and Otter and do battle to restore the world being overrun by the machines that have laid waste to some elements of the world they inhabit and it seems from the gameplay that it looks to be very fast paced and all out action that could be an interesting one to check out when it releases in the near future.
Then it was a return to a mixed medium title with an all new look at the game of There are no ghosts at the grand that will be a combination where by day you will be renovating the town and hotel of the grand to how you see fit and then when the sun sets will see you become a paranormal investigator as you investigate and bust some ghosts found in the halls and rooms of the building and the ideals of the game seem like an interesting take on the cozy game and has a fair few familiar names as well and I am sure I may give this a look into when the title releases in early access this December.
Then a title that I am for sure may get a call by a certain game company is with the unveiling of a title known as Roco Kingdom that feels like a heavy inspired Pokemon clone that will see you go from an academy to the land beyond and interact and capture some strange and colourful cretures of the land and I will be surprised this will last before Nintendo swoops in like it did towards Palworld but I am sure we will see close to the release with a Open Beta launching from October 27th.
We then turned our attention to the game known as The Defiant that will focus on some stories and struggles focusing on the armies of Japan during the battles and events of the 2nd world war with the footage focused on a battle on the Great Wall and I think it would be interesting to see a new take on this bloody war and I feel will be worth trying out and playing when it releases sometime in the near future.
We have one more top down isometric based title known as Tarae the Unbound that will see you explore a new and mysterious land created by the shattered boundaries of the Six Realms and learn the different class types as you try and sever fate in the process and while I hoped for a more 3rd person based approach I am sure there will be some interest to try when it releases sometime in the near future.
The 3rd last title in focus is with a new title known as Like or Die that will be a new team based FPS as you play as a Streamer and do battle against other creators to get the most kills, wins, views and likes to be the ultimate streamer in focus which I can give the idea as being an unique gimmick that I am sure could be worth seeing how it plays out but I'm sure we'll get an idea of it by its release in the future.
The 2nd last title in focus from the event was in the focus of giving us a new look at the 3rd and final entry of the Final Fantasy 7 remake with Revelation that will see Cloud and his team looking to find a solution to save the world from the possible planet destruction and the ascending power of Sephiroth and it seems like it was a long time coming to bring this massive remake a proper conclusion and it still looks visually great and I am sure we will see if it sticks the landing but I guess we will see by its release in the first half of next year.
Then to wrap up the announcements of the events of the opening Night event was with the focus of some all new confirmation of some new and improved updates and aspects to the remastered version of the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt that was launched on all platforms on the day before they gave a tease of one more expansion on the title before the new game drops in about 2 years with the title of Songs of the Past that will be a sense of some dark forces awaiting deep in the world set to be unleashed and control which will be worth checking out when the expansion releases sometime soon.
And that was all of the titles that were unveiled at the Opening of Gamescom and in all sense there was some decent titles but nothing really jumped out to me too heavily but still had some good titles. Sure I had hoped for at least another new look at the Code Veronica Remake with a release date as well, an update on that Marvel title focused on Cap and Black Panther in WW2 and the likes they promised a new look at the Alien Isolation sequel that was confirmed to be at the conference but never got shown but I guess they had to make some works around, but overall it is still some decent titles and I am sure we will see about it of some other showcases likely in the next week or 2 but I am sure we will see.
But what do you think of all of these announcements, is there any that stood out to you the most and what did you hope would be shown or unveiled? Let me know what you think about it all down below.
A selection of choice for the many other areas of media
We are not fully done yet as while all that gaming stuff is out of the way we have a small selection of the Hodge Podge to talk on still that will focus on a few brief updates in the sides of some new casting stories, an odd release date and even a new project with a mix of other options as well but let us delve into what was unveiled over the last week.
Well I may as well get this one out of the way as I don't want to give too much of a focus to it but akin to the story last week of Bautista replacing an actor for an upcoming adaption, we have another actor change for a role in another adaption but this is with one that I am not that enthusiastic with and that is from the announcement that their is a change in casting for the upcoming HBO series adaption of Harry Potter. Now about 2 weeks ago I talked on the aspect that Superman Actor Nicholas Hoult was going to be taken on the role of the character of Gildroy Lockhart for the 2nd season and that was where it was standing for the time being, but now it seems that is no longer the case as the actor has dropped out of the role due to "scheduling conflicts" (though I feel it may have to do with the backlash they got for joining the series) and it seems that another actor will be taking that role instead and that is with Jon Snow himself of Kit Harrington, who has already played this character in an audible version of the books themselves. Now you know me I have made my points clear, as does a fair amount of people on the internet and have said that this adaption is unnecessary in the basis that the films have done these first few books well in fully covering them and also the case we don't want to support and give more money and royalties to an author that is causing a lot of harm to a community that grew up and saw themselves in these books as well in some form with the sexual orientation of those she wants to protect (plus her contents in the world she created are also very problematic that have started to be given a focus of address) and more and more aspects of this series just feels like its a mess from the onset and the ones I feel the most sorry for is the child actors who don't deserve this ordeal. This is not the only bit of news in this universe however as some other backlash has been aimed at the epilogue stage play cause it was also announced this week that Rupert Grint himself will re-portray his character for a season of the show on broadway and be the 2nd of the cast following Tom Felton or Malfoy (then again this man will not let that series go and ride those coattails) but I am going to stop right there before I go on too much longer, but in the case of things if I hear anything else about this series and casting I will let you know in a later episode.
But moving from one IP to another IP getting the series treatment, it looks like we are heading to mean streets of Detroit and will be soon time to take the law into his own hands, punk as we have gotten an all new update for the upcoming planned tv series based on the popular 80s film series of Robocop as it was this week the studio of Amazon has found the perfect subject to be part man, part machine and all cop as it was announced this week that live action Beauty and the Beast and Godzilla x Kong star Dan Stevens will be portraying the titular character for the show. Now in this case I am actually fine with that chosen cast as I feel he would have a distinct look to the role and I am sure will bring some weight and gusto to the role overall. Now the main question that I have with this series is if it will be as graphic and bloody as the original film as that one goes all out in the bloodfest or if it will have a bit of a toned down form and whether it will be a retelling of the original films or be its own original story like the recent Rogue City game that came out a few years ago but I am sure we can see as they enter into full development of the series and if there is any updates on the project from other castings or release dates, I will let you know in a later episode.
Now this next story will bridge between the stories of New projects and a possible casting aspect as well as there is a new take on the world of classic cartoons entering into the world of the live action or reviving type of story as while we mentioned a story a few weeks back of Jim Carrey starring in a live action film based on the Jetsons, it looks like this project will be going to the era of the past as it seems we are getting a new film based on the series of the Flintstones with this particular film focusing on a grown up version of Bam Bam, the child and Fred and Wilma Rubble. Now in this instance there is a well known name attached in some form and that is that Project Hail Mary Star Ryan Gosling is involved but only as a producer on the project with him and his company partner currently looking for a writer. Now most case it will focus on the narrative seen from the 70s series of The Pebbles and Bamm Bamm show that saw him as a teen, dating pebbles, going through high school, getting a job and being a member of a band (a trend of a lot of these shows was there was some form of band in them) and likely will be where they will build the inspiration from. Now the ideals of this would be interesting and it will join the likes of those initial live action Flintstone films from the 90s where the first one was great and Viva Rock Vegas was quite a divisive one but I am interested to see what will come of it all. Now at the moment there is no indication as to who will play the titular character or any aspects of a story or when we may see this but if I hear anything new about it all then I will let you know in a later episode.
Moving over now to the side of the release dates, this first one was for a bit of time and with a sudden increase of other roles that have been added to this series that I was thinking this was going to be another little bit of time out before this new mystery unfolded, but it seems that I was overthinking it a bit too much as it will soon be time to pack our bags and head across the pond as earlier this week just as the season wrapped production we finally got the official release date for the premiere of season 6 of Only Murders in the Building with the one off Only Murders in London now set to premiere from the 8th of December. Now I was saying the case that it was likely a 2027 release as given they only confirmed another pair of stars for the season with Olivia Coleman and Peter Capaldi not too long ago that I was considering if that was the case but I guess given they have been filming the new season since about I'll say at least May or June so they have been busy and I am sure they were editing as they were going along so it makes sense they will still have a yearly mystery ready to go and a festive murder mystery is on my list. Now I do wonder if it will be a drop all at once ordeal or be the usual 2 episode premiere and then a weekly episode to keep you guessing but I am sure we can see closer to the release but I a interested to see some footage real soon and I will be soon speculating on the killer when the new season gets underway this December.
For the last of the stories for this week and on the release dates, it will soon be time to rev up the engines and get ready to go to the max speed and prove who is the best as after a bit of speculation and rumours for a fair few months (including this possibly crossing over with another popular film from last year for a follow up) it seems we are heading back once again to the rally tracks as they confirmed on Saturday that a sequel to the 90s classic of Days of Thunder is in development and has a release date for June 2nd 2028. This is not the only news as while we know of Tom Cruise getting behind the wheel of this nascar, we do have one other addition to the film and that is with Anne Hathaway joining the films sequel. Now the ideals of a Days of Thunder follow up doesn't seem that far fetched now, but probably would've been if the other legacy sequel of Cruise with Top Gun was not such a critical and commercial success and I would be interested to see how they'll tackle this in the modern film techniques. Now its not been a good news story for everyone as there is some beef about this and it comes from one of the stars of the original with Dennis Quaid who says that Hathaway should not be in the film and that they should try and get the original Love interest back of Nicole Kidman (and if you knew the relationship of Cruise and Kidman then it may be a difficult one) but I am sure they can sort it all out without causing more issues. I am intrigued to see what will come of this sequel and of anyone else who will be involved in this follow up, but once I hear anything new about it all then I will let you know on this as well in a later episode.
But what do u make of these stories, do you see as the Harry Potter casting choice as being better or unnecessary, will the new Robocop series be as dark as the original film or more toned down, who do you see as an adult Bam Bam, are you excited for only Murders season 6 for December and will you be watching the Days of Thunder sequel when it does release? Let me know what you think down below
And with all of that, that finally ends the 183rd edition of Weird Mind News Room and I hope you enjoyed the very long rambles as per usual. Let me know your thoughts of it all down below and as always I hope you all stay being wonderful people and have a great day everyday and I will see you all in the next episode :)
